Cape Perpetua

Devils Churn is a narrow inlet of the Pacific Ocean in Lincoln County, Oregon, United States, south of Yachats. It is located in the Siuslaw National Forest and is accessible via the Restless Waters trail from the Cape Perpetua Scenic Area visitor's center or the U.S. Route 101 overlook. Access to the trail requires a United States Forest Service pass. The inlet developed over many thousands of years as wave action carved into the basalt shoreline, first forming a deep sea cave whose roof eventually collapsed. As the tide comes in it can throw spray several hundred feet into the air when the waves reach the end of the churn. Visitors are urged to be cautious when visiting the churn, as it can be dangerous. In 2021, a man visiting the churn died from drowning after attempting to jump across the water.

Cleft of the Rock Light is a privately owned lighthouse located on the Pacific coast of the U.S. state of Oregon, 1.8 miles (2.9 km) south of Yachats on Cape Perpetua.It was built, in 1976, by former Tillamook Rock Light attendant and lighthouse historian James A. Gibbs who was active in preserving the lantern room of Smith Island Light. Cleft of the Rock Light is designed after Fiddle Reef Light, which operated from 1898 to 1958 in Oak Bay, British Columbia, a suburb of Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. The Cleft's tower contains a stair railing from the original keeper's dwelling at Yaquina Head Light. Other historic items include a stopwatch from Desdemona Sands Light, two brass oil cans from Tillamook Rock Light and Heceta Head Light, and a crank handle which wound the weights at Point Sur Light. It also has two fourth order Fresnel lenses. The Coast Guard made it an official navigational marker in 1979.The lighthouse is part of Gibbs' home, which also houses a private museum. The grounds and tower are closed to the public, however they are visible from U.S. Route 101 near mile marker 166. It is just outside the northwest corner of the Cape Perpetua National Scenic Area. Gibbs died at home on 30 April 2010. His daughter and son-in-law—who lived at the property for 27 years with Gibbs—intended to maintain the lighthouse as an official aid to navigation. The facility is still closed to the public. Cleft of the Rock is named after Fanny Crosby's hymn He Hideth My Soul in the Cleft of the Rock, which is based on Exodus 33:22.

The Yachats Ocean Road State Natural Site is a state park in southern Lincoln County, Oregon, in the town of Yachats. It is administered by the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department. It is located on the Pacific Ocean coast, adjacent to the Oregon Coast Highway and the mouth of the Yachats River. The park is open for day use only, and offers scenic driving on a 1-mile (1.6 km) loop, and wildlife and surf viewing, but is backed on its landward side by low-intensity urban development.

The Yachats River ( YAH-hahts) is a short river on the central Oregon coast, about 60 miles (100 km) west-north-west of Eugene. The name is the native name meaning at the foot of the mountain.The river begins about 12 miles (19 km) east-south-east of Yachats, Oregon, in steep, thick forest, a half mile north of Klickitat Mountain and flows northward about three miles (5 km), joins Grass Creek then about 0.4 miles (640 m) later joins with School Fork and turns westward. Keller Creek and Stump Creek join after about a mile (1.6 km) of meandering, followed after a half mile (800 m) by Neiglick Creek at river mile 10 (river kilometer 16). The river bed widens significantly and levels out to become very slow moving and turns northward about a half mile, then westward at river mile 8 (river kilometer 13). It meanders westward the rest of the way to the ocean. The sand and stone beach at the river bar is normally very shallow, which allows the tide to change the length of the river as much as a mile. Named tributaries from source to mouth are Grass Creek, School Fork, then Keller, Stump, and Neiglick creeks followed by the North Fork Yachats River. Below that come Axtell, Helms, Werner, Bend, Clear, Carlson, Dawson, Beamer, South Beamer, Marks, Reedy, and Salmon creeks.

Yachats ( YAH-hahts) is a small coastal city in the southernmost area of Lincoln County, Oregon, United States. According to Oregon Geographic Names, the name comes from the Siletz language and means "dark water at the foot of the mountain". There is a range of differing etymologies. William Bright says the name comes from the Alsea placename yáx̣ayky (IPA: /ˈjaχajkʲ/). At the 2020 census, the city's population was 994.

Tenmile Creek is a stream in Lane County, in the U.S. state of Oregon. It flows west from the Siuslaw National Forest in the Oregon Coast Range into the Pacific Ocean at Stonefield Beach State Recreation Site, about 6 miles (10 km) south of Yachats.Tenmile Creek was named for its length, approximately 10 miles (16 km). Tenmile Ridge, which runs parallel to and north of the stream, is named for the creek.Tenmile Creek Bridge carries U.S. Highway 101 over the creek. Bridge engineer Conde B. McCullough designed the 180-foot (55 m)-long structure in 1931.Ten Mile County Park, operated by Lane County, is along the stream. Amenities include toilets and four tent sites, with access to fishing and hunting. The park is about 4 miles (6 km) upstream of Highway 101 along Forest Service Road 56.Named tributaries from source to mouth are Wildcat Creek, which enters from the right; South Fork from the left; McKinney Creek from the right, and Mill Creek from the left.

Stonefield Beach State Recreation Site is a state park in the U.S. state of Oregon, administered by the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department. Tenmile Creek flows through the park and into the Pacific Ocean.

Ten Mile Creek Bridge (No. 01181) is a Conde McCullough-designed bridge near Yachats in Lane County in the U.S. state of Oregon. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2005.The bridge carries U.S. Route 101 over Tenmile Creek. McCullough designed the structure in 1931. Built of reinforced concrete through a tied arch, the total length of the bridge is 180 feet (55 m) with a main span of 120 feet (37 m). Ornate precast concrete railings run along the sides.
