Moor Park tube station

Moor Park is a private residential estate in the Three Rivers District of Hertfordshire, England. Located approximately 15.5 miles (24.9 km) northwest of central London and adjacent to the Greater London boundary, it is a suburban residential development.

The More (also known as the Manor of the More) was a 16th-century palace in the parish of Rickmansworth, Hertfordshire, England, where Catherine of Aragon lived after the annulment of her marriage to Henry VIII. It had been owned by Cardinal Wolsey. It lay at the northeast corner of the later More Park estate on the edge of the Colne flood plain. The Treaty of the More was celebrated here by Henry VIII and the French ambassadors. In 1527, the French ambassador, Jean du Bellay, thought the house more splendid than Hampton Court. Nothing now remains above ground. The site is a scheduled ancient monument. In the grounds of the school exist parts of at least two large stone pillars approximately one metre in length which are said to be part of the original manor.

Merchant Taylors' School is a selective British independent public school for boys founded in 1561 in London. The school has occupied various campuses since its founding; from 1933, it has been located at Sandy Lodge, a 285 acres (115 ha) site close to Northwood in the Three Rivers district of Hertfordshire.Founded in 1561 by Sir Thomas White, Sir Richard Hilles, Emanuel Lucar and Stephen Hales, it was one of the nine English public schools investigated by the Clarendon Commission set up in 1861, but successfully argued that it should be omitted from the Public Schools Act 1868, as did St Paul's School, London, the other day school investigated by the Clarendon Commission.The school caters for 1100 students between the ages of 11 and 18. The school is now an all-through school from age 3 to 18 after merger with Northwood Prep School in 2015.The school's old boys, called Old Merchant Taylors (OMTs), include naturalists, poets, actors, academics, politicians, authors, sportsmen, and military figures, including three winners of the Victoria Cross award. OMTs include, Lancelot Andrewes, the translator of the King James’ Bible; John Walter, founding editor of The Times; John Sulston, Nobel laureate in Physiology and Medicine; General Sir Richard Barrons, former Commander Joint forces command: E. H. Carr, the historian, Boris Karloff, the actor, Sir James Jeans the Astronomer Royal; Lord Coggan, Archbishop of Canterbury, Major-General Lord Robert Clive, and more. There is also a strong OMT presence in both Houses of Parliament.

Heart Hertfordshire (previously known as Hertfordshire's Mercury 96.6) is a local radio station owned by Communicorp UK and operated by Global as part of the Heart network. It broadcasts across Hertfordshire from studios in Watford. In 2005, it was sold by GCap Media to the Adventure Radio Company although it still carries programming from GCap's successors Global as well as having its website maintained by Global. The station was rebranded on Monday 26 July 2010, but as it is not owned outright by Global, it operates as a franchise. In 2019, the station merged with BOB fm in north Hertfordshire and began broadcasting to the entire county.

Moor Park and Eastbury is a ward in Three Rivers, in England. It is located in south-west Hertfordshire, in the East of England region. The ward includes the eponymous twin settlements of Moor Park and Eastbury, lying between Rickmansworth to the west, Croxley Green to the north, South Oxhey to the east, and Northwood to the south. As one of the more populous wards in the district, with an electorate of 4,611, rising to 5,532 at the 2011 Census, the ward elects three members to Three Rivers District Council. It is represented by three Conservative councillors: Debbie Morris, Reena Ranger and Joanna Clemens. For elections to Hertfordshire County Council, part of Moor Park and Eastbury is in the Rickmansworth East and Oxhey Park division, represented by Reena Ranger, a Conservative; the remainder is in the South Oxhey and Eastbury division, represented by Christopher Alley, also a Conservative. For elections to the House of Commons, it is in the South West Hertfordshire constituency, represented by Gagan Mohindra, also of the Conservatives.Along with Rickmansworth Town, Moor Park and Eastbury is in the Batchworth civil parish, and elects four councillors to Batchworth Community Council.

The Ebury Way is a 3.5-mile (5.6 km) rail trail in Hertfordshire between Watford and Rickmansworth. The route crosses the Grand Union Canal and three rivers; the River Colne, the River Chess and the River Gade. Passing lakes and fields in Rickmansworth, the path is shared by walkers and cyclists. Its origin as the Watford and Rickmansworth Railway means that it is wide and largely flat. It forms part of National Cycle Route 61 which runs between Windsor to the southwest and Ware to the northeast. The Watford section of the Ebury Way up to its crossing of the Colne also forms part of NCR 6 so this section is jointly routed 6/61.

The Watford and Rickmansworth Railway (W&RR) ran services between Watford and Rickmansworth in Hertfordshire, England. The company was incorporated in 1860; the line opened in 1862. The Rickmansworth branch was closed in 1952, and the remaining line was gradually run down and eventually closed in 1996.

The Withey Beds is a 7.5 hectare Local Nature Reserve (LNR) in Rickmansworth in Hertfordshire. It was declared an LNR in 2004 by Three Rivers District Council, and the council owns and manages the site.A withey (willow) bed is an area where willow is grown for coppicing. The site borders the River Colne, and it has a variety of habitats including dry grassland, wet woodland, marsh and ditches. A World War II pillbox has been turned into a bat roost. Rare invertebrates found on the site are the oak jewel beetle, soldier fly, and Roesel's bush cricket.There is access from Moor Lane near the junction with Sandy Lodge Road.

Batchworth Heath is 4 hectares (10 acres) of designated common land in Rickmansworth, Hertfordshire, around the junction of Batchworth Heath Hill, Batchworth Lane and White Hill, owned and managed by Three Rivers District Council. The habitat is heathland with an ancient pond and rich wildlife. Since July 2015 the site has been listed by Natural England as a Local Nature Reserve, but according to Three Rivers Council this is an error and they have asked Natural England to remove it from the list.

Croxley Common Moor is a 39.5-hectare (98-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and Local Nature Reserve in Croxley Green, Hertfordshire. It is owned by Three Rivers District Council and managed by the council together with the Countryside Management Service and the Friends of Croxley Common Moor. Most of it is a registered common.The site is mainly grass heathland with some ancient woodland and hazel coppice. It has been designated an SSSI for its botanical interest, and over 250 species of plants have been recorded. Principal species include sheep sorrel, common bent and sheep's fescue. There is also abundant sweet vernal grass and harebell. There are many ant hills made by yellow meadow ants.The moor can be accessed from the Ebury Way, a foot/cycle route which borders it to the south, and by a footbridge across the River Gade, which borders it to the north, from Mill Lane, close to Croxley tube station.

Eastbury is a settlement in the Three Rivers district of Hertfordshire, adjacent to the Greater London suburb of Northwood in Hillingdon. Other settlements nearby include Moor Park and South Oxhey, and Eastbury is about equal distance between the Northwood and Moor Park tube stations (Metropolitan line). Northwood Headquarters is in Eastbury. The post town is Northwood. It is in the Three Rivers Ward of Moor Park and Eastbury Eastbury is served by Eastbury Farm JMI School. This was rated in 2007 as Outstanding by Ofsted and is one of the top 1% primary schools in England.

Hamper Mill House is a grade II listed house in Hampermill Lane, near Watford in Hertfordshire, England. It was built in the late 18th-century and extended in the late 19th or early 20th-century.It was once the home of the interior designer Dennis Lennon.
