Van Nuys is an unincorporated community in Henry Township, Henry County, Indiana and the site of the Indiana Village for Epileptics. Van Nuys was named for the first medical doctor to be the director of the Indiana Village for Epileptics circa 1905. The Indiana Village for Epileptics later became New Castle State Hospital and was then renamed the New Castle Developmental Training Center before it was eventually closed.

New Castle Correctional Facility is a privately run (but state-owned) prison located in New Castle, Indiana, United States. It opened in 2002. In September 2005, the state signed a contract with the for-profit GEO Group, Inc. of Boca Raton, Florida, to run the prison. The facility is rated as minimum- to medium-security, but also has a maximum-security psychiatric unit and annex. It is currently the second-largest prison in Indiana, and can hold approximately 3,270 inmates.

The New Castle Commercial Historic District is a national historic district located at New Castle, Henry County, Indiana. It encompasses 64 contributing buildings in the central business district of New Castle. It developed between about the 1849 and 1941, and includes many excellent examples of Italianate, Classical Revival, and Commercial styles of architecture. Notable sites of interest include the separately listed Henry County Courthouse. Other notable buildings include the L.A. Jennings Building (1877), Odd Fellows Hall (1875, c. 1895), Murphey Building (c. 1870), Knights of Pythias Building (1891), Masonic Temple (1892), Bradway Building (1902), former United Brethren Church (1863, 1883), Citizens State Bank Building (1923), S.P. Jennings and Sons Handle Factory complex (c. 1890), and Coca-Cola Bottling Building (1905, 1941).It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1991.

The Henry County Courthouse is a historic courthouse located in New Castle, Henry County, Indiana, US, on the land designated as court house square by the Henry County Commissioners. The Court House was built between 1865 and 1869 at a cost of $120,000. An annex was added in 1905 at a cost of $44,000.When it was built the commissioners wanted a fireproof courthouse. They did not want to see the courthouse burn again as it had in 1865. Architect Isaac Hodgson provided them with what they wanted, but with a mansard roof and a 110-foot clock tower. The mansard roof was unusual for a midwestern public building in the 1860s. It became popular later, but the Henry County Court House was probably the earliest example of the style for public buildings in the midwest.Henry County claims the distinction of being the Raintree County described in Ross Lockridge Jr.'s book Raintree County in part because the Henry County Court House is pictured inside the front cover of the book and the book includes references to places in Henry County. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1981. It is located in the New Castle Commercial Historic District.

The General William Grose House is a historic home located at 614 S. 14th St., New Castle, Henry County, Indiana. It is the home of the Henry County Historical Society. The Italianate mansion was built in 1870 by Civil War Major General William Grose and his wife Rebecca. General Grose commanded the 36th Indiana Regiment and fought in the battles at Vicksburg, Chattanooga, Chickmauga and Atlanta. He resided in the house until his death in 1900. The Henry County Historical Society acquired the 16 room mansion in 1902 and operates it as a museum.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.

New Castle High School is a public high school in New Castle, Indiana whose name is commonly abbreviated to NCHS. It is part of the New Castle Community School Corporation and has an enrollment of approximately 900 students. NCHS is the largest high school in Henry County. The present high school originated from the New Castle Academy in 1870. In 1895, New Castle High School was constructed. Because of its distinctive appearance, the building became known as "The Castle." In response to a significant increase in enrollment, a new senior high school was constructed in 1923–24 at 14th and Walnut Streets. Plans to construct an additional wing and a multi-purpose facility were never developed. Instead, physical education classes were conducted at the National Guard Armory across the street and basketball games were played at the YMCA in the "Church Street Gym." The Walnut Street location served as the senior high school until 1958 when the present high school facility was completed. The 1924 structure then joined the 1895 "Castle" building as a junior high school. In 1973, eighth and ninth grade students began attending the newly constructed Parkview Junior High School. The "Castle" was subsequently demolished, and the Walnut Street school exclusively housed seventh grade students until 1999. The location was home to the Raintree Education Center until 2010; the building was sold to a private owner in 2011.

New Castle is a city in Henry County, Indiana, 44 miles (71 km) east-northeast of Indianapolis, on the Big Blue River. The city is the county seat of Henry County. New Castle is home to New Castle Fieldhouse, the largest high school gymnasium in the world. The city is surrounded by agricultural land. In the past, it was a manufacturing center for the production of sheet iron and steel, automobiles, caskets, clothing, scales, bridges, pianos, furniture, handles, shovels, lathes, bricks, and flour. Starting in the early 20th century, it was known as the Rose City, at one point having 100 florists and numerous growers.According to the 2010 census, the population was 17,396. New Castle Correctional Facility, with a capacity of over 3,500 inmates, is located just north of the city.

The Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame is a sports museum and hall of fame in New Castle, Indiana. While it honors men and women associated with high school, college, and professional basketball in Indiana, an emphasis is placed on the athlete's high school career for induction.
