Robert M. La Follette House

Maple Bluff is a village in Dane County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 1,313 at the 2010 census. A suburb of Madison, it is part of the Madison Metropolitan Statistical Area. Maple Bluff is the site of the Wisconsin Governor's Mansion, the residence of the governor of Wisconsin and their family. The Robert M. La Follette House is also in Maple Bluff.

The Executive Residence, known better as the Governor's Mansion, is located at 99 Cambridge Road in the Village of Maple Bluff, Wisconsin (a suburb of the state capital of Madison), on the eastern shore of Lake Mendota. It is currently the official residence of Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers. The Wisconsin Governor's Mansion is one of four governor's residences in the United States not within a state capital's municipal limits, though all of them are located within the county containing the state capital. The others are Drumthwacket, located in Princeton, New Jersey, instead of Trenton; the Ohio Governor's Mansion, located in suburban Bexley outside Columbus; and the Tennessee Governor's Mansion, located in Oak Hill, just outside Nashville).

The Maple Bluff Boy Scout Cabin is a log cabin in Fireman's Park in Maple Bluff, Wisconsin. Maple Bluff's Troop 5 of the Boy Scouts of America built the cabin in 1943. At the time, Boy Scout troops often built their own cabins and were encouraged to do so by the BSA, which included instructions on building a cabin in the Boy Scout Handbook, offered a merit badge for building a cabin, and featured completed cabins in its magazine Boys' Life. The cabin cost an estimated $780.24, with labor provided by the Boy Scouts and their fathers; the village of Maple Bluff leased the land to the troop for ten years for a nominal $1 fee, which was extended to twenty years once the building was complete. The cabin has been used by Troop 5 for meetings and activities since its completion.The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on November 6, 2017.

Malcolm Shabazz City High School is a four-year public alternative high school in Madison, Wisconsin. The school was named in honor of activist Malcolm X, also known as Malcolm Shabazz. It was founded as Malcolm Shabazz High School in 1971, changing its name after merging with City High School (founded 1972) in 1979. The school is located at 1601 N Sherman Ave., the same building as Madison's Sherman Middle School. Shabazz is known for its informal atmosphere (students refer to teachers and the principal by their first names) and emphasis on individuality and social and political activism. According to former social studies teacher Gene Delcourt, "Shabazz was designed to be an alternative school for the sake of it being an alternative school, rather than it being a last chance for diploma completion or the last chance for kids who were falling through the cracks. When the school was founded, it was originally founded by students who were motivated to learn something other than what mainstream schools were teaching. Teachers responded to that by teaching their passion."

Burrows Park Effigy Mound and Campsite is an archaeological site in Burrows Park in Madison, Wisconsin. The site includes a bird-shaped effigy mound with an 128-foot (39 m) wingspan; it once included a fox-shaped mound as well, though it has been destroyed. The mound was built by Mound Builders during the Late Woodland period, likely between 700 and 1200 A.D. The Mound Builders used effigy mounds as burial sites, and bird-shaped mounds represented sky spirits in their religion; effigies of other animals were used to represent different elements. A 1934 restoration project repaired vandalism to the mound and cleaned up its surroundings.

Hartmeyer Ice Arena is a 3,500 seat multi-purpose arena in Madison, Wisconsin. It has ice surfaces for hockey, figure skating, and open skating, but can also have the ice removed for other events, such as indoor football. The building was constructed to play host to the Wisconsin Badgers men's ice hockey team, but only served that purpose for four years before the team moved to the Dane County Coliseum, now known as the Veterans Memorial Coliseum on the campus of the Alliant Energy Center. The arena is sometimes called "The Hart."

Rhythm and Booms was an annual summer fireworks show in Madison, Wisconsin.

Warner Park is a community park on the northeast side of Madison, Wisconsin near Lake Mendota. Warner Park is also the home to the Madison Mallards baseball team, a member of the Northwoods League. Its stadium, nicknamed the "Duck Pond", was built in 1982 and has a capacity of 6,750. It also hosts the Madison East High School and Madison La Follette High School baseball teams. The adjacent football field was formerly the home of the Madison Mustangs, a semi-professional football team that played in the Central States Football League in the 1960s and 1970s. Warner Park contains a multi-purpose facility for community activities. It has a gymnasium, a fully equipped exercise room, a game room and dry and wet craft rooms. Meeting rooms and community rooms are available for rent. The park contains a 9-foot-tall metal replica of the Statue of Liberty (Liberty Enlightening the World), built in 1950.

Lake View Sanatorium is a former tuberculosis sanatorium at 1204 Northport Drive in Madison, Wisconsin. Before the introduction of antibiotics, sanatoria were used to isolate tuberculosis patients from the general public and provide them with a supportive environment in which to recover. The state of Wisconsin had a state sanatorium supplemented by a series of county and private sanatoria; as Dane County had a large private sanatorium, it lagged behind other counties in opening a public one, but the financial benefits of operating its own sanatorium convinced the county to build Lake View Sanatorium in 1929–30. The sanatorium was designed by local architects Law, Law, & Potter with the assistance of E.A. Stubenrauch, a Milwaukee architect with experience designing sanatoriums; while the building is mainly functional, it features some Art Deco elements. The building's facilities included 125 beds for patients, an operating room, facilities for outpatient care, and a large porch; as fresh air was considered the best treatment for tuberculosis at the time, patients generally spent their days and even many nights on the porch. As antibiotics made sanatoria increasingly obsolete from the 1940s onward, use of the facility declined until it closed in the 1960s; the building is now used by the Dane County Department of Human Services.The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places on April 15, 1993.

Madison East High School is one of four comprehensive four-year high schools in Madison, Wisconsin. It was established in 1922, making it the oldest public high school still operating in Madison. The school mascot is "Peppy Purgolder", an animal resembling a feline. Madison East athletes compete in the WIAA Big Eight Conference. Its girls' swim team won the WIAA Division 1 state championship in 2007.

The Louis Hirsig House is a historic house located at 1010 Sherman Avenue in Madison, Wisconsin. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on December 2, 1974.

Smart Studios was a recording studio located in Madison, Wisconsin. It was set up in 1983 by Butch Vig and Steve Marker to produce local bands. The studio produced bands such as Killdozer, The Smashing Pumpkins, L7, Tad, and Nirvana. After initial production and remix successes, the building became the focus of operations for Vig and Marker's own band, Garbage, who released their debut album in 1995. The studio survived various mishaps, including flooding, and in 2003, a backhoe crashing through the walls of the downstairs studio. On May 1, 2010, the studio closed its doors because of financial difficulties, although in September 2013, producer and musician Brian Liston re-opened the former Smart Studios facility as Clutch Sound.Madison filmmaker Wendy Schneider made a documentary on Smart Studios, The Smart Studios Story (2016), in which she interviewed artists, record producers, and engineers who worked in the facility. In 2012, the Wisconsin Historical Museum assembled an exhibit on the studio, Smart Sounds, Alt Music, Mad Scenes.
