Schio

Schio (Italian: Stazione di Schio) is a railway station in the Italian town of Schio, in the Veneto region. The station lies on the Vicenza–Schio railway and the train services are operated by Trenitalia.

The Schio massacre was a mass prisoner killing carried out by former Italian partisans of the Garibaldi Brigade and officers of the Auxiliary Partisan Police in the city jail of Schio on the night of 6–7 July 1945. Of the 54 people who were killed, only 27 of them were fascist supporters or had collaborated with the Germans. The massacre was investigated by the Allies and two trials with convictions followed.

The Battle of La Motta, also known as the Battle of Schio, Battle of Vicenza or Battle of Creazzo, took place at Schio, in the Italian region of Veneto, Republic of Venice, on 7 October 1513, between the forces of the Republic of Venice and a combined force of Spain and the Holy Roman Empire, and was a significant battle of the War of the League of Cambrai. A Venetian army under Bartolomeo d'Alviano was decisively defeated by the Spanish/Imperial army commanded by Ramón de Cardona and Fernando d'Ávalos.

The Vicentine Alps (Italian: Prealpi Vicentine; German: Vizentiner Alpen, Vicentiner Alpen or Vizentiner Voralpen) are a mountain range of the Eastern Alps in Trentino and the provinces of Verona and Vicenza. The mountains were named after the city of Vicenza which lies at their eastern edge. The highest point in the range is the Cima Dodici (2,336 m s.l.m.) on the northern perimeter of the Vicentine Alps.
