Pear Tree Point School was a co-educational private day school, grades Pre-Kindergarten-Grade 6 in Darien, Connecticut. It was the only school in the state of Connecticut which officially used the "Core Knowledge" program. The school kept its class sizes at a maximum of 15 students. When class size exceeded 10 students a second teaching professional was added. The group sizes for reading and mathematics classes were smaller.It was founded in 1996. In October 2017, it was announced the school would close. After town officials announced the Town of Darien would not be buying the property, the five-acre plot was sold to a private trust.

Hay Island is a small peninsula located off the Darien, Connecticut, shore of Long Island Sound. Its north shore is located on Ziegler's Cove. A small road connects the island with Long Neck Point Road. There are two structures on Hay Island. One was the home of the late William Ziegler III, a founder of the Maritime Aquarium at Norwalk.

Its coordinates are 41.05112°N 73.47128°W / 41.05112; -73.47128 The cove is protected to the south by Hay Island (a small peninsula), to the west by Coon Point and Long Neck Point and Great Island to the north. There are also two islands within the cove, Neds Island and smaller, rockier Pine Island. The shoreline of the cove is a mixture of steep granite bluffs, marsh, and coarse sand beaches. The shoreline is privately owned. There is no public access to the shore.

A part of Darien Public Schools, Hindley sits at 10 Nearwater Lane (at the intersection of Nearwater Lane and the Boston Post Road) in the Noroton section of Darien. Every year, Hindley hosts a town fair called the Hindley Happening.

It occupies the southwest part of Darien, from the Metro-North Railroad in the north to Long Island Sound in the south. The southern half of the community occupies Noroton Neck, between Holly Pond to the west and the Goodwives River to the east. It is bordered to the west by the city of Stamford and to the east by the Tokeneke neighborhood of Darien. To the north is Noroton Heights. It was first listed as a CDP prior to the 2020 census.

Tokeneke is a census-designated place (CDP) in the town of Darien, Fairfield County, Connecticut, United States. It comprises the southeast part of the town, occupying several peninsulas and islands that extend into Long Island Sound, between the Goodwives River to the west and the Fivemile River to the east. It is bordered to the north by Darien Downtown and to the east by the city of Norwalk. Tokeneke was first listed as a CDP prior to the 2020 census. As of the 2020 Census, Tokeneke has a population of 2,794.

The Cove Island Houses, although plural in name, is a single house in Cove Island Park, in Stamford, Connecticut. The house was expanded from a first section that dates from 1791, and is now predominantly a Georgian style house with an older wing. It is the only building that is a legacy of the large Stamford Mills complex at the Cove. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979. It presently houses administrative offices of Cove Island Park.

Cove Island Park is an 83-acre park, beach and recreation area in the Cove section of Stamford, Connecticut, located on Long Island Sound. Access to the park requires a parking pass. The city's Park Commission charges Stamford residents with valid Stamford car registrations can buy a season pass for $25 at Government Center, the non-resident fee is $225.

The Smith House is a work of contemporary architecture designed by Richard Meier, a well-known architect born in 1934 who led the avant-garde modern architecture movement of the 1960s. The Smith House was planned starting in 1965 and completed in 1967 in Darien, Connecticut, and overlooks the Long Island Sound from the Connecticut coast. The 2,800 square-foot home has been featured in numerous books and has won various prestigious awards.The back of the Smith House, which faces the water, has an open façade with three levels of glass enclosure, providing sweeping, waterfront views. "There is a formal layering, giving a sense of progression, as one moves across the site from the entrance road down to the shore, and the 'line of progression' determines the major site axis," Meier has written. "Perpendicular to this axis, the intersecting planes in the house respond to the rhythms of the slope, trees, rock outcroppings, and the shoreline." Shortly after the house was built, Fred and Carole Smith divorced. When Carole remarried, Meier was hired to expand the house. A 300 square-foot expansion was added to the master suite. The house was owned by the Smith’s sons, Chuck Smith & Hobie Smith. In 2022, the sons sold the house privately to Thomas Majewski, a longstanding resident of the neighborhood. To give some context to the architect, Richard Meier was born in 1934, and was one of the five leading avant-garde architects in the 1960s, along with Charles Gwathmey, Peter Eisenman, Michael Graves, and John Hejduk. The Fred I. Smith House was one of Meier’s first largely-recognized works and was part of a series of single-family homes that mark a first-step in Meier’s work. It won numerous prizes shortly following its construction. In 1968, one year after it was constructed, it won the AIA National Honor Award, the AIA New England Award, the AIANY Award, and the AIA National Award. Later, in 2000, it received yet another award, the Twenty-five Year Award from the American Institute of Architects.

Contentment Island is a small island in the Long Island Sound, off the coast of Tokeneke, Connecticut, United States. It is primarily residential, and is also home of the private Tokeneke Club. It contains some of the country's most expensive real estate; many homes sell for over $10M. The community serves as a weekend getaway for some of New York City's most elite businessmen. The island is accessible via either car or boat. It is off-limits to anyone not a resident of Tokeneke.John Frederick Kensett, a famous painter and engraver, focused much of his artwork on his time spent living on the island in the late 1800s.

The Pond-Weed House is a historic house at corner of the old Boston Post Road and Hollow Tree Ridge Road in the Noroton section of Darien, Connecticut. It has also been known as The House Under the Hill and Half-Way House. Built in 1696 by Nathaniel Weed, the house is a classic wood frame saltbox, 2+1⁄2 stories in height, five bays wide, with a central chimney. It is considered to be the oldest building extant in Darien.The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.
