Halifax Area High School

The Halifax Area School District is a small, suburban, public school district located in Halifax, Pennsylvania in Dauphin County. The district served 1,143 students in preschool to grade 12 in 2012. Halifax Area School District encompasses approximately 83 square miles (210 km2). The district serves residents of: Halifax Borough, Halifax Township, Jackson Township and Wayne Township. According to 2000 federal census data, Halifax Area School District served a resident population of 7,366 people. By 2010, the district's population increased to 7,606 people.According to the Pennsylvania Budget and Policy Center, 30.8% of the district's pupils lived at 185% or below the Federal Poverty Level [1] as shown by their eligibility for the federal free or reduced price school meal programs in 2012. In 2009, the district residents’ per capita income was $19,609, while the median family income was $50,256. In Dauphin County, the median household income was $54,066. In the Commonwealth, the median family income was $49,501 and the United States median family income was $49,445, in 2010. By 2013, the median household income in the United States rose to $52,100. In 2014, the median household income in the USA was $53,700.

Legislative Route 1 Sycamore Allee is a historic roadway landscape in Halifax Township and Reed Township, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania. It consists of 314 sycamore trees planted along Legislative Route 1. They are located along both sides of the road south of Halifax and on the east side of the road north of Halifax. Approximately 536 trees were originally planted in 1922.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2007.

Halifax is a borough in Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, United States. Halifax was incorporated as a borough on May 29, 1785. It is situated at the confluence of Armstrong Creek and the Susquehanna River. The population was 795 at the 2020 census. It is part of the Harrisburg–Carlisle Metropolitan Statistical Area. Fort Halifax was located along the Susquehanna River near the present borough. It was a temporary stronghold for the Pennsylvania colonial militia from 1756 to 1757, during the French and Indian War. Prior to settlement by Europeans the area was inhabited by North American Indians, presumably Susquehannocks, evidenced by frequent unearthing of tools and arrowheads by local residents and farmers. Just outside the borough of Halifax lies the Clemson Island Prehistoric District, on Clemson Island which falls under the jurisdiction of Halifax Township.

Fort Halifax was located along the Susquehanna River near the present day borough of Halifax, Pennsylvania, United States. It was a temporary stronghold in northern Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, from 1756 to 1757, during the time of the French and Indian War.

Clemson Island Prehistoric District is a historic archaeological site and national historic district located at Halifax Township, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania. It is a series of three spatially discrete loci. They constitute a transitional Middle Woodland - Late Woodland (c. 900-1100 A.D.) earthwork mound and associated village. There is evidence of occupation from the Early Archaic period (c. 6,900 B.C.) to the 18th century. The mound was excavated in May and June 1929.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1981. The 123-acre island is accessible only by boat. It has been owned by the state of Pennsylvania since 1965 and managed as a wildlife preserve and improvement area.

Armstrong Creek is a 16.5-mile-long (26.6 km) tributary of the Susquehanna River in Pennsylvania in the United States.The creek rises on Berry Mountain east of Elizabethville and flows generally southwest. Armstrong Creek joins the Susquehanna River on the north side of Halifax.Armstong Creek was named for John Armstrong, Sr., who led the Kittanning Expedition in the French and Indian War.

Powells Valley (variants include Powell Valley, Powl Valley and Powls Valley) is an unincorporated community in Halifax Township, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, United States, situated in the Harrisburg–Carlisle metropolitan statistical area.Powells Valley is located on Pennsylvania Route 225 just below Matamoras. The area began as a Post Office and is named for a Quaker family from York County who settled near the mouth of Powells Creek around 1760.
