Barron River is an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of Queensland.Created at the 1971 redistribution, it currently covers the northern suburbs of Cairns, as well as Kuranda. The Barron River from which the electorate derives its name runs through its centre. It is bordered by the districts of Cook to the north and west, Cairns to the southeast and Mulgrave to the south.

The William Walter Mason Memorial Bridge (also known as Barron River Bridge) is a road bridge that carries the Captain Cook Highway across the Barron River at the boundary of four suburbs in Cairns (Stratford, Aeroglen, Barron, and Machans Beach) in the Cairns Region, Queensland, Australia. The first Barron River Bridge was built by John Holland Constructions in 1977. On 12 August 1978 it was named after William Walter Mason, the first settler who bought land on the north side of the Barron River in 1882.The first bridge was converted to southbound traffic after the second northbound bridge was built in 1988 as part of the highway duplication project. Both bridges are known as the William Walter Mason Bridges.

It was designed by Department of Public Works (Queensland) and built from 1920 to 1930s. It is also known as the former Innisfail Police Station. It was added to the Queensland Heritage Register on 6 December 2004.

It is the largest collection of military vehicles in Australia, and the only major collection of vehicles in Australia apart from the Royal Australian Armoured Corps Memorial and Army Tank Museum at Puckapunyal. It is one of the largest private collections of artillery and AFVs in the world. The museum houses vehicles from a number of overseas manufacturers, including vehicles from Russia, Germany, Japan, the UK, the US and Czechoslovakia.
