Beacon Hill (Branford, Connecticut)

The Shore Line Trolley Museum is a trolley museum located in East Haven, Connecticut. Incorporated in 1945, it is the oldest continuously operating trolley museum in the United States. The museum includes exhibits on trolley history in the visitors' center and offers rides on restored trolleys along its 1.5 mi (2.4 km) track as the Branford Electric Railway. In addition to trolleys, the museum also operates a small number of both trolleybuses and conventional buses. The museum encompasses the Branford Electric Railway Historic District, which was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places in 1983.

The East Haven Green is the town green of the New England town of East Haven, Connecticut. It is bounded by River Street, Hemingway Avenue, Main Street, and Park Place and is the focal point of the East Haven Green Historic District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places. This area is also part of the commercial business district of the town and contains many two- and three-story brick office buildings that have been constructed within the last ten or fifteen years. Farther to the northwest are a shopping center and high-rise apartment buildings.On the other corner of Hemingway Avenue are two older, wood-frame houses. One is a late 17th-century two-story house that has been converted to offices. Other wood-frame houses can also be found along the Main Street and Park Place sides of the green, most of them dating to the late 19th or early 20th centuries. Along Park Place are two houses built in the 18th century with a more modern Episcopal church (Christ and The Epiphany Church, built in 1964) located between the two. The other houses on the block were built around the turn of the century. To the south of the green is River Street, a two-lane street, and the Eastlawn Cemetery and The Old Cemetery. Part of The Old Cemetery is enclosed by an iron fence with a large stone gateway. On the green itself, there are two concrete paths lined with lamp posts that cross diagonally. In the center of the green is a hexagonal bandstand and a Revolutionary War cannon. It and other monuments honor war veterans including World War I, World War II, Korean and Vietnam. Another monument at the northeast corner of the green honors General Lafayette also known as Gilbert du Motier, marquis de Lafayette, and his troops that camped on the Green when they were in East Haven during the Revolutionary War. It is said that the General visited the 18th century colonial house on Main Street during his stay on the Green. At the northwest corner of the green, facing the commercial section, are three stone memorials. One is a monument erected by the American Legion dedicated to war veterans. This monument and the two flagpoles flanking it are spotlighted. Behind and to each side of the American Legion monument are monuments dedicated to soldiers who fought in World War I, and to East Haven men who died in World War II. The town cemetery located south of the Green is also included in the East Haven Green Historic District.

The First Congregational Church of East Haven (also known as Old Stone Church) is a historic church at 251 Main Street in East Haven, Connecticut. It was built in 1772-74 by George Lancraft, a local builder, and is one of Connecticut's few surviving pre-Revolutionary churches. It is also one of New England's oldest stone churches, preceded principally by King's Chapel in Boston, Massachusetts. The church was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982. The congregation is affiliated with the United Church of Christ.

Short Beach is a beach neighborhood situated in Branford, Connecticut. It is the westernmost of Branford's seven neighborhoods, the others being: The Hill, The Center, Pine Orchard, Stony Creek, Indian Neck, and Brushy Hill. Short Beach's population is approximately 2,500. About a half mile long, it is situated in New Haven County and is bordered by East Haven to the west, Branford to the north and east and Long Island Sound to the south. It is home to many small islands, the largest being Kelsey's Island which has a few small cabins used as summer homes. Short Beach was once a thriving shoreline vacation village that became almost a completely year-round neighborhood starting in the late 1950s. There are still million-dollar summer homes on the waterfront as well as the old vacation homes. Nowadays Short Beach is a fast-growing area that still retains a neighborhood feel. It is home to people of every economic background and is a safe and heavily policed area. Most of the old cottages have been fixed up, so much so that the area has a newer look than it did just ten years ago. There has been immigration to Short Beach and the New Haven area in general from the former Yugoslavia as well as from the Caribbean. The central portion of the Short Beach neighborhood was listed on the National Register of Historic Places as the Short Beach Historic District in 2017.

Farm River State Park is a privately operated, publicly owned recreation area on the western shore of the Farm River estuary in the town of East Haven, Connecticut. Public access to the 62-acre state park is limited and boating is restricted to those with passes obtained from Quinnipiac University, which manages the park for the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection. Park activities include nature trail hiking, bird watching, and fishing.

Yale Corinthian Yacht Club is a public sailing facility located on Short Beach in Branford, Connecticut (United States), home of the Yale University sailing team. It is generally abbreviated as "YCYC" and is affectionately pronounced "yic-yic." Founded in 1881, it is the oldest collegiate sailing club in the world. YCYC is about six miles from campus. Student officers, such as the commodore, secretary, and fleet captain, run the club. They manage everything from the facilities and fleet to fund-raising and hosting events,

East Haven Academy is a public Magnet school in East Haven, Connecticut that enrolls children in grades 1-8. It opened on September 3, 1997. In 2005 " EHA" was recognized as a Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education. In September 2007 a team of four 8th grade students from EHA won Gold Medals in the Science Olympics held at Academy of Our Lady of Mercy, Lauralton Hall which tested teams of students in the subject areas of Physics, Chemistry, Geology, and Biology. The school maintains an active chapter of the National Junior Honor Society.

The Old East Haven High School is a historic former school building at 200 Tyler Street in East Haven, Connecticut. Built in 1936, it was the town's first public high school, serving until the present-day East Haven High School opened in 1997. Now converted into housing, the school was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2020.

East Haven is a town in New Haven County, Connecticut, in the United States. As of the 2020 census, the town population was 27,923. The town is located 3 miles (5 km) east of New Haven, and is part of the South Central Connecticut Planning Region. East Haven is 35 miles (56 km) from Hartford, 82 miles (132 km) from New York City, 99 miles (159 km) from Providence, Rhode Island, and 140 miles (230 km) from Boston.

Lake Saltonstall (Lonotonoquet in Quinnipiac), is a long narrow lake located in south-central Connecticut. It covers an area of approximately 0.66 square miles (1.7 km2) and is nestled in the center of the trap rock Saltonstall Mountain. The lake is surrounded by forest and serves as part of the local water supply for surrounding towns. The lake and the area around it is owned by the South Central Connecticut Regional Water Authority, a company which also regulates fishing and rents boats. Private boats are not allowed. A Regional Water Authority (RWA) recreation permit Archived 2018-07-02 at the Wayback Machine may be purchased, which provides access to hiking trails, fishing and boat rentals at Lake Saltonstall and other properties owned and maintained by the RWA. There are a variety of fish native to Lake Saltonstall in addition to those that are stocked by the RWA. Fish in Lake Saltonstall include largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, black crappie, walleye, trout, yellow perch and carp.Interstate 95 runs across the southern edge of the lake, connecting the towns of East Haven, Connecticut and Branford, Connecticut. Lake Saltonstall's maximum depth does not exceed 113 feet (34 m) and its mean depth is 41 feet (12 m).

Tweed-New Haven Regional Airport (IATA: HVN, ICAO: KHVN, FAA LID: HVN) is a public airport located three miles southeast of downtown New Haven, in New Haven County, Connecticut, United States. The airport is partly located in the City of New Haven, which owns the airport, and partly in the town of East Haven. Tweed is one of two airports with regularly scheduled commercial service in Connecticut, the other being Bradley International Airport in Windsor Locks. It is included in the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems for 2017–2021, in which it is categorized as a non-hub primary commercial service facility.

The Harrison House, also known as Harrison–Linsley House and incorrectly as the Swain-Harrison House, is a historic house museum at 124 Main Street in Branford, Connecticut. Built in 1724 by a descendant of Branford's founders, it is a good example of a Connecticut saltbox structure. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975, and is a contributing property to the Canoe Brook Historic District. Since 2016 it has been operated as a house museum by the Branford Historical Society.
