Grand Plaza is a residential apartment building in Chicago, Illinois, United States. The 57 story building was completed in 2003 at a height of 641 feet (195 m) when measured from its decorative spires. Grand Plaza I is one of the tallest all-residential buildings in Chicago and contains 481 luxury apartment units. Until July 1st, 2008, it was the tallest building in the Chicago ZIP Code 60610, the ZIP Code with the most high-rises in the city. On July 1st, 2008, the building ended up being in a new ZIP Code: 60654. That ZIP Code encompasses a small area, so the building is still the tallest in its ZIP Code. Phase two of the Grand Plaza complex was The Residences at Grand Plaza, completed in the same year. At 39 floors, it is the shorter of the two twin towers and is now a condominium building. Both buildings were designed by Loewenberg + Associates and OWP&P Architects. They also share a common base full of retail such as a Jewel-Osco supermarket.

The Former Chicago Historical Society Building is a historic landmark located at 632 N. Dearborn Street on the northwest corner of Dearborn and Ontario streets near downtown Chicago. Built in 1892, the granite-clad building is a prime example of Henry Ives Cobb's Richardsonian Romanesque architecture.[1] Henry Cobb designed this home for Walter Loomis Newberry, founder of the Newberry Library in Chicago. The building was designated a Chicago Landmark in 1997. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978, under the name, Old Chicago Historical Society Building. The building was the home of the Chicago Historical Society after its original headquarters burned down in the Great Chicago Fire, and prior to its relocation to Lincoln Park in 1931. Afterwards, the building housed a magazine publisher, the Works Progress Administration, the Loyal Order of Moose, the Chicago Institute of Design (1946–1956), and recording studios (1950s and 1960s). Since 1985 it has been the location of a series of nightclubs.

Grand Avenue is a major east-west street in the city of Chicago and nearby DuPage County, although it deviates somewhat from Chicago's grid system, as it is diagonal west of Western Avenue. The street runs from the Kingery Highway (also known as U.S. Route 20 and Illinois Route 83) in Addison, east through the western suburbs, and then east-southeast into Chicago, through the Magnificent Mile shopping area, and continuing out to Navy Pier, where it ends. This is a distance of about 19 miles (31 km).

The Tree Studio Building and Annexes was an artist colony established in Chicago, Illinois in 1894 by Judge Lambert Tree and his wife, Anne Tree.

Grand (Grand/State in station announcements) is an "L" station on the CTA's Red Line. It serves Navy Pier, which is accessible via bus on Illinois Street one block south.

Jazz Showcase is one of the oldest jazz clubs in Chicago, Illinois, founded in 1947 by NEA Jazz Master Joe Segal, whose son Wayne now owns and operates the venue. Segal's various showcases have served as a launch pad for a number of career jazz musicians.

The Boyce Building is an historic building in Chicago, Illinois, associated with William D. Boyce and his publishing house, which catered to small towns. The building was also the headquarters of his Lone Scouts of America.

The Tokyo Hotel, located at 19 E. Ohio Street, was a hotel in the Near North Side of Chicago. Designed by architect Ralph C. Harris, it is 15 stories tall, and has 150 rooms. It opened in 1927 as the Devonshire Hotel. Before it closed in 2013, the Tokyo was not aimed at tourists, but rather longer-term residents, and earned a reputation for being home to "prostitution and criminal activity." In October 2013 the hotel was sold for $13.5 Million to a real estate development firm. Following extensive renovation, the building reopened in June 2015 as the Freehand Chicago Hostel.

The Medinah Temple is a large Moorish Revival building in Chicago built by Shriners architects Huehl and Schmidt in 1912. It is located on the Near North Side of Chicago, Illinois at 600 N. Wabash Avenue, extending from Ohio Street to Ontario Street. In 2022, it was announced that the site will temporarily house a casino while the $1.7B Bally's Casino is under construction nearby.

O'Banion's was a nightclub located at 661 N. Clark St. in Chicago's River North neighborhood. Named for Chicago Irish gangster Dion O'Banion, it was established in June 1978, inside what had formerly been McGovern’s Saloon (itself an infamous Chicago gangster bar where a young O'Banion had performed as a singing waiter) as well as a series of strip clubs and gay bars. Chicago's first Punk club Le Mer Viper had burned down two months prior, and O'Banion's began to form the epicenter of the city's early Punk scene in what was then a notorious skid row area as well as hire many of the former employees of Le Mer Viper. The club promoted shows by national-touring acts including Toxic Reasons, Hüsker Dü, The Replacements, and Dead Kennedys. Additionally, numerous bands from Chicago's own music scene began playing shows there before achieving wider success, including Naked Raygun, Strike Under, Ministry, and Skafish. In 1979, the club began hosting newly popular new wave bands after a series of difficulties with their earlier clientele, but owner Rus Cramsie closed the venue in 1982 after encountering financial difficulties. The building was eventually renovated into The Kerryman bar and restaurant as River North began to gentrify in the 1990s.

The Cable House is a Richardsonian Romanesque-style house near Michigan Avenue at 25 E. Erie St. in Chicago, Illinois, United States. The house was built in 1886 by Cobb and Frost for socialite Ransom R. Cable. It was designated a Chicago Landmark on October 2, 1991.In 1902, the house was purchased by Robert Hall McCormick for his son, Robert Hall McCormick III who was head of the McCormick Estate. He lived there with his family until 1926 when it was sold and became a funeral home. This was where Marconi stayed in Chicago in 1917. The house is located in a part of the Near North Side neighborhood west of Michigan Avenue that was once dubbed "McCormicksville," due to the concentration of McCormick family members living there within a few blocks of each other. The Cable House is currently occupied by the offices of Driehaus Capital Management, which is operated by Chicago financier, preservationist and philanthropist Richard H. Driehaus. His Richard H. Driehaus Museum is located across the intersection in the historic Edward J. Burling-designed Samuel M. Nickerson House at 40 E. Erie St.

Gold Coast was a gay leather bar in Chicago that operated from 1958 to 1988. It was one of the first bars created by and for the gay leather community in the United States.
