Olszany [ɔlˈʂanɨ] is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Strzegom, within Świdnica County, Lower Silesian Voivodeship, in south-western Poland. It lies approximately 5 kilometres (3 mi) south of Strzegom, 10 km (6 mi) north-west of Świdnica, and 54 km (34 mi) south-west of the regional capital Wrocław.

Stanowice [stanɔˈvit͡sɛ] is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Strzegom, within Świdnica County, Lower Silesian Voivodeship, in south-western Poland. It lies approximately 4 kilometres (2 mi) south-east of Strzegom, 11 km (7 mi) north of Świdnica, and 52 km (32 mi) south-west of the regional capital Wrocław. In the final stages of World War II, on 28 January 1945, a German-organized death march of Allied prisoners of war from the Stalag Luft 7 POW camp stopped in the village.

Świebodzice (Polish: [ɕfjɛbɔˈd͡ʑit͡sɛ]; Silesian: Frybork; German: Freiburg) is a town in south-western Poland with 22,793 inhabitants (as of 2019). It is situated in Świdnica County, Lower Silesian Voivodeship (from 1975–1998 it was in the former Wałbrzych Voivodeship). The town is situated close to Książ Castle, which during World War II, together with the cave complex, was expanded to create private quarters for Adolf Hitler. The town dates back to the medieval Kingdom of Poland. It was granted town rights by 1279. During World War II, the Germans established a subcamp of the Gross-Rosen concentration camp in the town. In 1957 Pełcznica, and in 1973 Ciernie, were included within the town limits as its new districts.

The gmina covers an area of 144.71 square kilometres (55.9 sq mi), and as of 2019 its total population is 25,775.

The Battle of Hohenfriedberg or Hohenfriedeberg, now Dobromierz, also known as the Battle of Striegau, now Strzegom, was one of Frederick the Great's most admired victories. Frederick's Prussian army decisively defeated an Austrian army under Prince Charles Alexander of Lorraine on 4 June 1745 during the Second Silesian War (part of the War of the Austrian Succession).
