Prairie View station

Prairie View is an unincorporated community located in northeastern Illinois, in southern Lake County. It is a part of Vernon Township (the Vernon Township building was previously located in Prairie View for many years). Prairie View has not been annexed entirely by either Lincolnshire or Buffalo Grove, although tiny portions of it have been.

WAES (88.1 FM) was a high school radio station licensed to Lincolnshire, Illinois, United States. It was branded "Stevenson Patriot Radio," a name reflective of both the school's name and mascot. It was owned and operated by Adlai E. Stevenson High School and was run by students of the high school. Its license expired December 1, 2020.

Aptakisic is an unincorporated community in Lake County, Illinois, United States. Aptakisic is located along Aptakisic Road and the Canadian National Railway; it borders Buffalo Grove to the west and Lincolnshire to the east. The name Aptakisic is derived from Chief Aptakisic of the Potawatomie tribe; it is one of two unincorporated communities named in his honor, the other being Half Day.

Vernon Area Public Library is a public library in Lake County, Illinois, United States, serving the communities of Lincolnshire and unincorporated Prairie View, most of Long Grove, and smaller portions of Buffalo Grove, Riverwoods and Vernon Hills. It operates a single library in Lincolnshire. The Vernon Area Public Library offers access to nearly 200,000 physical items, along with programming and instruction for all ages. The library also delivers materials to senior centers in the area.The Vernon Area Public Library was counted among America's Star Libraries for 2010, 2011, and 2013 as named by Library Journal.

In Metra's zone-based fare system, Vernon Hills is in zone G. As of 2018, Vernon Hills is the 118th busiest of Metra's 236 non-downtown stations, with an average of 409 weekday boardings. Vernon Hills station is an A-Framed structure with an analog clock tower emerging from the right slope. The canopy on the platform is also an A-Framed structure. As of December 12, 2022, Vernon Hills is served by all 14 trains (seven in each direction) on weekdays.

The Marriott Theatre in Lincolnshire, Illinois is a respected Chicago area regional theatre. Attached to the Marriott Lincolnshire Resort, the theatre produces an average of five musicals each year, presented in the round, as well as productions aimed at younger audiences. A small, live orchestra provides accompaniment.

Vernon Hills High School, or VHHS, is a public four-year high school located in Vernon Hills, Illinois, a northern suburb of Chicago, Illinois, in the United States. It is part of Community High School District 128, which also includes Libertyville High School. The school is a blue ribbon of excellence school.

The Lincolnshire Commons is an upscale lifestyle center located in Lincolnshire, Illinois. The center opened in 2006 and hosts numerous high-end restaurants, and promeninent retailers such as Cheesecake Factory, Jos. A. Bank, DSW and LensCrafters. The 140,000-square-foot (13,000 m2) center is a popular shopping area in Chicago's affluent north suburbs. Regal Cinemas across the street opened November 20, 1998 as City Park 20 by Regal Entertainment. It has stadium seating and an IMAX theater. This theater is known for showing independent films.

Buffalo Grove is a village in Lake and Cook Counties in the U.S. state of Illinois. A suburb of Chicago, it lies about 30 miles (50 km) northwest of Downtown Chicago. As of the 2020 Census, Buffalo Grove has a population of 43,212. It totals 9.6 square miles (25 km2) of land, with the top three-quarters in Lake County and the bottom quarter in Cook County. Roads in the village such as Lake Cook Road and Illinois Route 83 converge on I-294, which take drivers to O'Hare International Airport 20 miles (32 km) south of Buffalo Grove. A part of the Chicago Metropolitan Area, Buffalo Grove is consistently ranked as one of the best places to live in Illinois and the Midwest, as well as one with the highest school district rankings in the country. Before westward expansion, Native American Potawatomi tribes inhabited the present area. The name "Buffalo Grove" comes from the English translation of the Potawatomi name for Buffalo Creek, which flows through some of the village. Initial Homesteaders sold their land to agricultural Catholic German immigrants, who established St. Mary's Church and a school. The rural area changed minimally until post-Korean War developers bought and suburbanized the region for veterans. After being incorporated in 1958, Buffalo Grove experienced a population boom for the next three decades and hosted a 50th Anniversary Celebration in 2008. Nearly all schools in Buffalo Grove have achieved commendable status or received awards from the state in the 21st century. The village features dozens of recreational facilities, parks, and festivals, including a months-long Farmers' market, two golf courses, and popular Buffalo Grove Days. Although its schools and low crime are attractive to moving families, the village's population has plateaued since 2000. Buffalo Grove has an elected council-manager government with home rule status. Because of Buffalo Grove's location in two counties, different state and national districts represent each portion. The local government's public works department is nationally accredited. Economically, residents work in health care, education, and professional services, while businesses in the village employ 20,000 daytime workers in 10 million square feet of commercial and industrial space.

This makes it the most-trafficked station on the North Central Service.As of December 12, 2022, Buffalo Grove is served by all 14 trains (seven in each direction) on weekdays. The station contains a large parking lot off of Commerce Drive, which itself is a cul-de-sac off of Deerfield Parkway. The station is a part of the Sidney Mathias Transportation Center.
