Sankt Gotthard im Mühlkreis is a municipality in the district of Urfahr-Umgebung in Upper Austria, Austria. Attractions include Schloss Eschelberg, a stately home built in 1596, and the ruined 13th-century Rottenegg Castle.

The Feldkirchner Badeseen are a group of five lakes in the municipality of Feldkirchen an der Donau, Upper Austria.

Tiergarten Walding (literally, “Walding Zoo”), is a small zoo located on a hill in the village of Walding, in the district of Urfahr-Umgebung in the Austrian state of Upper Austria. Founded in 1967 as a smaller Animal shelter at a farm and Gasthaus in Pasching southwest of Linz, the owners moved the animals to a new location in Walding in 1973, and was granted zoo licence in 1979. Among other species can be seen Gibbon, Leopard, Lion, Ozelot, Zebra, Serval, Tiger.

The Aschach is a river of Upper Austria. It is a left tributary of the Innbach near Alkoven.

Rottenegg is a village in the municipality of Sankt Gotthard im Mühlkreis, in Upper Austria. It is named after the now-ruined Rottenegg Castle, just east of the village. Rottenegg is surrounded by hilly country and is a good area for hiking, with excellent views. It once lay on a Via Regia, a medieval trade route. The ruined castle is on a projecting rock promontory where the Kleinen Rodl enters the Großen Rodl river from the north, looking over the confluence. It guarded the old trade route. The village puts on the Rottenegg Cultural Summer Program each year, which includes cabarets, concerts and plays. The village is home to the Mühlviertler Heimatverein Rottenegg, a club that preserves folk dances and songs, and that puts on a play each year. The hall at the leisure center is also used for other events.

Rottenegg Castle (German: Burgruine Rottenegg) is a ruined castle near the village of Rottenegg in the municipality of Sankt Gotthard im Mühlkreis, Austria. It dates to the 13th century, and was built to protect a medieval trade route. After 1712 the castle was allowed to decay, and much of it has disappeared.

Feldkirchen an der Donau is a municipality in the district of Urfahr-Umgebung in the Austrian state of Upper Austria. A group of five lakes called the Feldkirchner Badeseen (Feldkirchen Bathing Lakes) is located in the municipality. Feldkirchen was the birthplace of the conductor and composer Hans Schläger (1820–1885).

Eschelberg is a town in Upper Austria, Austria. It is part of the municipality of Sankt Gotthard im Mühlkreis. The town was first fortified in 1206 and the castle there was built around 1598.

The Hartheim killing centre (German: NS-Tötungsanstalt Hartheim, sometimes translated as "Hartheim killing facility" or "Hartheim euthanasia centre") was a killing facility involved in the Nazi programme known as Aktion T4, in which German citizens deemed mentally or physically unfit were systematically murdered with poison gas. Often, these patients were transferred from other killing facilities such as the Am Spiegelgrund clinic in Vienna. This was initially a programme of "involuntary euthanasia" permitted under the law ostensibly to enable the lawful and painless killing of incurably ill patients; these murders continued even after the law was rescinded in 1942. Other victims included Jews, Communists and those considered undesirable by the state. Concentration camp inmates who were unfit for work, or otherwise deemed troublesome, were also executed here. The facility was housed in Hartheim Castle in the municipality of Alkoven, near Linz, Austria, which now is a memorial site and documentation centre.

Schloss Hartheim, also known as Hartheim Castle, is a castle at Alkoven in Upper Austria, some 14 kilometres (9 mi) from Linz, Austria. It was built by Jakob von Aspen in 1600, and it is a prominent Renaissance castle in the country. The building became notorious as one of the centers for the Nazi program known as Aktion T4, in which German citizens deemed mentally or physically unfit were systematically murdered with poison gas. After the official end of Aktion T4 in August 1941, the facility was used to murder Jews, communists, and other concentration camp prisoners under a program known as "Action 14f13". In this capacity it was known as the Hartheim killing centre, where the Nazis murdered a total of 30,000 people.
