Wentwood (Welsh: Coed Gwent), in Monmouthshire, South Wales, is a forested area of hills, rising to 1,014 feet (309 m) above sea level. It is located to the northeast of, and partly within the boundaries of, the city of Newport.

Llanvaches or Llanfaches is a village and community parish within the boundaries of the city of Newport, Wales. It lies to the east of the urban area, in the historic county of Monmouthshire and the preserved county of Gwent. The population rose to 402 by the 2011 census.

The community includes the estate of Parc Seymour.

Penhow Castle, Penhow, Newport dates from the early 12th century. Extended and reconstructed in almost every century since, it has been claimed to be the oldest continuously-inhabited castle in Wales. The castle is a Grade II* listed building.

Earlswood (Welsh: Coed-yr-iarll) is a rural area of scattered settlement in Monmouthshire, south east Wales, United Kingdom. It is located five miles northwest of Chepstow, within the parish of Shirenewton and immediately east of the forested area of Wentwood.

Penhow Woodlands National Nature Reserve is a national nature reserve and Site of Special Scientific Interest located in south east Wales near the village of Penhow, to the east of Newport. The reserve covers an area of 24 hectares (59 acres).Penhow Woodlands National Nature Reserve covers three areas of ancient semi-natural woodland. Only one of them, at Coed Wen, is open to the public. The woods are dominated by ash, small-leaved lime, wych elm and gean, with an understorey of hazel. The site is coppiced In order to keep a reasonably open canopy allowing plenty of light onto the woodland floor, to benefit plants which grow beneath the trees. The woods grow on the tops and slopes of the limestone hills in the vicinity of Newport. This type of habitat is increasingly rare in the UK, as are the plants which grow within it.

Pen-y-cae-mawr is a small hamlet above the Wentwood Forest in Monmouthshire, Wales. It lies about 2 miles (3.2 km) east of Llantrisant. There are two farms, Cas-Troggy and Penyrheo, and a Methodist chapel on the main road. The chapel recently celebrated its 121st anniversary. Services are held on the second and fourth Sunday of the month at 3.00pm. There are also the remnants of a Baptist Chapel, known as "Pen Y Well". Gravestones in the churchyard date from the 18th century.

St. Brides Netherwent (Welsh: Sant-y-brid) is a parish and largely deserted village in Monmouthshire, south-east Wales. It is centred 2 miles north of Magor, and 3 miles west of Caerwent. The A48 Newport to Chepstow road passes close by to the north.

Parc-Seymour is a suburban hamlet on the northern edge of Penhow just off the A48 road.

Newchurch (Welsh: Yr Eglwys Newydd ar y Cefn, meaning "new church on the ridge") is an extensive rural parish and small hamlet in Monmouthshire, south east Wales. It is located 6 miles south east of Usk and 6 miles north west of Chepstow, between the B4235 and B4293 roads.
