The Institut National des Sciences Appliquées de Lyon or INSA Lyon is a French grande école and engineering school. The university is located on the La Doua – LyonTech campus, in a cluster of science and technological universities and Grandes Écoles. La Doua is located in Villeurbanne, a suburb of Lyon. The school was founded in 1957 to train highly qualified engineers, support continuing education, and conduct research. The five-year curriculum aims at training engineers who possess human qualities and are well versed in the primary areas of science and engineering. Students may pursue a PhD upon completion of the 5-year curriculum. Graduates from INSA Lyon are called Insaliens.

Claude Bernard University Lyon 1 (French: Université Claude-Bernard Lyon 1, UCBL) is one of the three public universities of Lyon, France. It is named after the French physiologist Claude Bernard and specialises in science and technology, medicine, and sports science. It was established in 1971 by the merger of the 'faculté des sciences de Lyon' with the 'faculté de médecine'. The main administrative, teaching and research facilities are located in Villeurbanne, with other campuses located in Gerland, Rockefeller, and Laennec in the 8th arrondissement of Lyon. Attached to the university are the Hospices Civils de Lyon, including the 'Centre Hospitalier Lyon-Sud', which is the largest teaching hospital in the Rhône-Alpes region and the second-largest in France. The École nationale supérieure des sciences de l'information et des bibliothèques (ENSSIB; French for National Superior School of Information Science and Libraries) is a French grande école based in Villeurbanne, near Lyon. It is administered by the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation.Enssib's predecessor, the École nationale supérieure de bibliothécaires, was established by decree in 1963 as an Établissement public à caractère administratif. The contemporary Enssib was formed by later decree in 1992, with elevated status as a grand établissement.It provides education and training for library curators and librarians in the French civil service after a competitive examination. The school is also a member of the University of Lyon and grants a variety of master's degrees, open to those not in the civil service. Since 2009, the school publishes the Bulletin des bibliothèques de France (ISSN 1292-8399), a journal established in 1956 by the merging of the Bulletin de documentation bibliographique and Bulletin d’information de la Direction des Bibliothèques de France. The school belongs to the Couperin consortium.

Parc Saint-Clair is a public greenspace in the quarter of Saint-Clair in the commune Caluire-et-Cuire near Lyon. The park has an area of 4 hectares (9.9 acres), is bordered by the Rhône to the south and the Boulevard périphérique de Lyon to the north and east.It was designed by landscape architect Alain Provost.

Uthman Mosque (also known as 'Othman' Mosque or 'Mosquée de Othmane') is a mosque for Muslims of all traditions and ethnic groups inaugurated on 1 April 2006 in Villeurbanne, France, near Lyon. It is a three-storey building paid for by contributions from French Muslims, covering 1200 square metres and including a large library and an Arabic school catering for 250 students.

The Passerelle de la Paix ("skyway of peace") is a pedestrian and bicycle bridge over the Rhône river in Lyon, France. It connects the 6th arrondissement of Lyon and the commune of Caluire-et-Cuire.Grand Lyon commissioned the construction of a bridge between Cité Internationale and Place Basse Demonchy in Parc Saint-Clair in Caluire-et-Cuire. The project was first conceived in 1994, but construction was held up by a legal dispute over who would be the primary contractor. The project was revived in 2009 with Austrian architect Dietmar Feichtinger creating the design for the bridge. The construction of the bridge began in March 2012. The bridge was named "Passerelle de la Paix" on 22 October 2012 to represent intercultural harmony, because the neighbourhood of Saint-Clair has a large immigrant population. Construction concluded on 13 December 2013 and opened to the public on 17 March 2014. The bridge has two sections: a 217-metre (712-foot) long upper section for pedestrians and bicycles, and a 156-metre (512-foot) long lower section uniquely for pedestrians.
