Southwest Schuylkill is a neighborhood in Southwest Philadelphia, along the Schuylkill River north of Elmwood, in the vicinity of the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority's R3 railroad tracks.The Regent-Rennoc Court and Anna Howard Shaw Junior High School are listed to the National Register of Historic Places in 1988.

Philadelphia School of Occupational Therapy, also known as the Medical Services Building, is a historic school building located in the Rittenhouse Square West neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It is a three-story, five-bay, "U"-shaped brown brick building in the Art Deco style. It was built in 1930 as a two-story building; a third story was added in 1939. The front facade features sculptural iron panels, sandstone carvings, and two-story brick pilasters with decorative caps. The Philadelphia School of Occupational Therapy occupied the building into the late-1950s, after which it housed medical offices associated with the University of Pennsylvania. It has been converted to apartments. Notable alumni of the school included Kamala Nimbkar and Muriel Zimmerman. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2003.

Ringgold Place is a set of 26 historic rowhouses located in the Rittenhouse Square West neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. They were built about 1862, and their scale reflects the material shortages during the American Civil War. The three-story brick residences measure 14 feet by 20 feet, with spartan facades and interiors, over a raised basement. The properties were acquired in 1925, by noted Philadelphia architect George Howe (1886–1955). His office was located at 1900 Ringgold Place and he owned the houses until 1934. He or Tilden, Register & Pepper, a firm he employed, modernized the dwellings and introduced some decorative elements to the 19th Street facades.The houses were added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.

The Civil War Museum of Philadelphia (formerly the Civil War and Underground Railroad Museum of Philadelphia and previously the Civil War Library and Museum) in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, claims to be the oldest chartered American Civil War institution in the United States. The museum was founded in 1888 by veteran officers of the Union Army, Navy and Marine Corps. In 2008, the museum closed to the public in anticipation of a move to other quarters. In June 2016 the museum announced that ownership of its collection of about 3,000 artifacts will be transferred to the Gettysburg Foundation, "the non-profit partner of the National Park Service at Gettysburg." Artifacts from the collection will continue to be displayed in Philadelphia at the National Constitution Center. Books, archives and other two-dimensional material will continue to be owned by the Civil War Museum and are available to researchers at the Heritage Center of the Union League of Philadelphia.While closed, the collection were stored at the Gettysburg Museum and Visitor Center, where material from the collection was displayed 2013–2015.

The Marian Anderson House is a historic home located in the Southwest Center City neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Built circa 1870 in the same neighborhood where opera singer and civil rights advocate Marian Anderson was born 27 years later, this two-story, brick rowhouse dwelling was designed in the Italianate style. Purchased by Anderson in 1924, the same year she became the first African-American concert artist to record spirituals for a major American recording company, she continued to reside here until 1943. The house is currently home to the Marian Anderson Museum and Historical Society.

Southwest Center City (SWCC), also known as Graduate Hospital, is a neighborhood in South Philadelphia bordering Center City Philadelphia. The neighborhood is bordered on the north by South Street, on the south by Washington Avenue, on the west by the Schuylkill River, and on the east by Broad Street. It is an area adjacent to the Fitler Square and Rittenhouse Square neighborhoods to the north and Point Breeze to the south. It is home to several community service organizations, restaurants, many churches, a few retail establishments, and some light industry.

Horace Jayne House (1895) is an architecturally significant building designed by architect Frank Furness in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It is located at the southwest corner of 19th and Delancey Streets, about a block south of Rittenhouse Square. The Horace Jayne House was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.

The Academy of Vocal Arts (AVA) is a school dedicated to providing higher education to aspiring opera singers. It is the only tuition-free institution in the world devoted solely to operatic training and performance. The school was founded in 1934 by Helen Corning Warden and is located at 1920 Spruce Street in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Notable alumni include Lando Bartolini, Harry Dworchak, and Ruth Ann Swenson. The institution maintains a Hall of Fame for Great American Opera Singers which The Opera Quarterly described as equivalent to the kammersänger title in Europe. Some of the artists in the AVA's Hall of Fame include John Alexander, Rose Bampton, Lili Chookasian, Phyllis Curtin, Frank Guarrera, John Macurdy, Rosa Ponselle, Eleanor Steber, Jess Thomas, Jon Vickers, and Beverly Wolff.

The Rosenbach is a Philadelphia museum and library located within two 19th-century townhouses. The historic houses contain the collections and treasures of Philip Rosenbach and his younger brother Dr. A. S. W. Rosenbach. The brothers owned the Rosenbach Company, which became the preeminent dealer of rare books, manuscripts and decorative arts during the first half of the 20th century. Dr. Rosenbach in particular was seminal in the rare book world, helping to build libraries such as the Widener Library at Harvard, The Huntington Library and the Folger Shakespeare Library. In 2013, the Rosenbach became a subsidiary of the Free Library of Philadelphia Foundation, but maintains its own board and operates independently of the public library system.

Plays and Players Theatre, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, is one of the oldest professional theater companies in the United States, founded in 1911. The theater building was designed and constructed in 1912 by Philadelphia architect Amos W. Barnes as a dramatic school, but soon was used as a theater for Broadway try-outs, known as the Playhouse. The theater company Plays and Players bought the building in 1922 and has performed there ever since. Murals were added in 1923 by the American artist Edith Emerson.

Temple Beth Zion-Beth Israel is a Conservative synagogue that is located in Center City, Philadelphia. Its congregation represents the 1964 merger of Beth Zion, which was formed in 1946, and Beth Israel, which was established in 1840. Temple Beth Zion-Beth Israel had 400 member households as of December 2022. The synagogue offers religious services, pre-school, Hebrew school, adult education, and community programming.

Rafsnyder-Welsh House is a historic home located in the Rittenhouse Square East neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The original house was built about 1855, as a typical brick Philadelphia rowhouse consisting of a front building, piazza, and back building. It was extensively remodeled and enlarged to its present form in 1893–1894. As presently formed, it consists of a four-story front building, approximately 34 feet wide and 36 feet deep, connected to a four-story back building, by a four-story section. Attached to the back building is a three-story, brick wing and two-story wing. A four-story fire tower was added in 1922. It has an eclectic front facade of Pompeiian brick with sandstone and terra cotta trim.The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.
