Henry Miller House is a historic home located near Mossy Creek, Augusta County, Virginia. The original section was built about 1785, and expanded in the mid-19th century. It is a two-story, stone and brick dwelling with a combined gable and hipped roof. It consists of a square, four-bay, double-pile section with a three-bay, single-pile attached wing to form unbroken seven-bay facade. It features a full-width, one-story porch. Also on the property are a contributing two-story, one-cell rubble stone kitchen and two-story, three-bay, single-cell spring house. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.

Hannah Miller House, also known as the William Joseph House, is a historic home located near Mossy Creek, Augusta County, Virginia. It was built about 1814, and is a two-story, banked stone "Continental bank" house style dwelling. It sits on a full, but not fully excavated, basement and has an exterior stone chimney. As of 1978, the interior of the house was absolutely plain and little-altered, with a single room on each floor. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.

Bridgewater Historic District is a national historic district located at Bridgewater, Rockingham County, Virginia. The district encompasses 127 contributing buildings and 1 contributing site in the central business district and surrounding residential areas of the town of Bridgewater. It includes a variety of residential, commercial, and institutional buildings most of which date from the 19th century and early-20th century. Notable buildings include the Jacob Dinkle House, the St. Claire Kyle House, the J. G. Brown House, Dr. T. H. B. Brown House, the Hite House, Childress House, Whitmore House, the O. W. Miller House, Dr. Strickler House, Masonic Lodge, Methodist Church (1841), Baptist Church (1855, 1883), Farmer's Bank (c. 1883), Berlin Building (1883), Geary Building (1887), and the Lutheran Church (1881). Also included is the oldest portion of the Bridgewater College campus, consisting of five fine brick collegiate buildings constructed before 1911. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.

The Dry River is a 22.6-mile-long (36.4 km) tributary of the North River in the U.S. state of Virginia. It flows entirely within Rockingham County, rising within the George Washington National Forest east of the West Virginia border and flowing south to the North River at Bridgewater. Via the North River, it is part of the Shenandoah River system, flowing to the Potomac River.

The North River is a 55.3-mile-long (89.0 km) river in the mountains and Shenandoah Valley of northern Virginia, the United States. It joins the South River at Port Republic to form the South Fork Shenandoah River. The river rises at 4,000 feet (1,200 m) above sea level in western Augusta County, below Dyers Knob on Shenandoah Mountain along the Virginia-West Virginia border. From the man-made Elkhorn Lake it flows south and then east through the George Washington National Forest. The river breaks out of the Allegheny Mountains at North River Gap and flows into the broad Valley of Virginia. The river passes through the town of Bridgewater and flows southeast, joining the South River at Port Republic. The Middle River, a major tributary, joins the North River just west of the town of Grottoes, four miles above the juncture with the South River. Other towns along the river include Mount Solon, Stokesville, Sangersville, Natural Chimneys, Mount Crawford, and the village of North River. The river is popular among canoeists, rafters and inner tubers. At one point during the 19th century barges shipped goods upstream via a canal/lock system. Typical wildlife of the North River includes the great blue heron, wood duck, Canada goose, belted kingfisher, Baltimore oriole, painted turtle, common snapping turtle, largemouth bass, sun perch, catfish, eastern cottontail rabbit, white-tailed deer, raccoon, opossum, brown bats, freshwater clams, mink, tiger swallowtail and ebony jewelwing. Typical plant life of the North River includes the cardinal flower, joe-pye weed, purple monkeyflower, great blue lobelia, bulrush, yellow iris, American sycamore, cottonwood, box-elder, silver maple, Virginia bluebells, and spring beauty.

Mount Crawford is a town in Rockingham County, Virginia, United States. It is included in the Harrisonburg Metropolitan Statistical Area, and the town's population was 433 at the 2010 census.

Contentment, also known as the Grattan House, is a historic home located near Mount Crawford, Rockingham County, Virginia. It was built in 1823, and is a two-story, five-bay, brick Federal style dwelling. It has a pair of slightly projecting interior end chimneys placed at each end of the standing-seam metal gable roof with a brick parapet between each pair. During the American Civil War, on June 2–3, 1864, the house served as the headquarters of Confederate General John D. Imboden before the Battle of Piedmont. It was also the site of one of the major skirmishes before the Confederate defeat at Cedar Creek, near Winchester. That skirmish was initiated by General Jubal Early and began at Contentment on October 4, 1864. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2006.

Montezuma is an unincorporated community located in Rockingham County, in the U.S. state of Virginia.

Natural Chimneys, known as the Cyclopean Towers in the 19th century, is a natural rock structure located near Mt. Solon in Augusta County, Virginia in the United States, in the Shenandoah Valley. The formation is a central feature of a regional park owned and operated by Augusta County. The formation includes seven rock "chimneys" that range in height from 65 to 120 feet (20 to 37 m) above ground level. The chimneys are formed from limestone that began to accumulate and harden into stone about 500 million years ago in the Paleozoic Era, when the region was underwater. Over time, enormous upward pressures of magma and widespread geologic upheaval, which created the Appalachian Mountains, combined with erosive forces of water and destroyed weaker layers of stone. Eventually, this created the rock chimneys which can be seen today.The park, located along the North River, has a 145-site campground with a pool, playground, and hiking trails. The park also hosts one of the largest jousting tournaments in the eastern United States. The tournament is held on the third Saturday of August, and has taken place annually since 1821. The tournament includes the historical sport of "running at the ring". Augusta County owns the property and maintains the facility.
