Mostyn Colliery

Mostyn is a village and community in Flintshire, Wales, and electoral ward lying on the estuary of the River Dee, located near the town of Holywell. It has a privately owned port that has in the past had a colliery and ironworks and was involved in the export of commodities, and in present times services the offshore wind industry and ships the wings for the Airbus A380 which are manufactured at Broughton.

Mostyn Hall is a large house standing in 25 acres (10 hectares) of garden near the village of Mostyn, Flintshire, Wales. It is designated by Cadw as a Grade I listed building.

Downing Hall was built in 1627 by the Pennant family near Whitford, Flintshire. It was later the home of Thomas Pennant, the naturalist, traveller and writer. It was partially destroyed in a fire in the early 20th century and afterwards left derelict until it was demolished in 1953.

TSS Duke of Lancaster is a former railway steamer passenger ship that operated in Europe from 1956 to 1979, and is beached near Mostyn Docks, on the River Dee, in north Wales. She replaced an earlier 3,600-ton ship of the same name operated by the London Midland and Scottish Railway company between Heysham and Belfast.

The Church of St Beuno and St Mary is a Grade I listed church in Whitford, overlooking the estuary of the river Dee. The church has a well preserved late medieval interior and includes a series of notable monuments dating from the 17th to 19th centuries. The Church is part of the Diocese of St Asaph and is one of the ancient parishes of Flintshire, with its earliest definite mention being in the Doomsday book, written in 1086. It is believed, however, to have been founded in the 7th century by St Beuno, to whom it was solely dedicated before the Norman conquests of north Wales. In more recent times the church has been heavily patronised by the Mostyn family, who funded the rebuilding of the church in 1842-3, and whose descendants were buried there until 1651.

Whitford (Welsh: Chwitffordd) is a village, community and an electoral ward near Holywell in Flintshire, northeast Wales. The population of both the community and the ward taken at the 2011 census was 2,332. The community includes the villages of Carmel, Lloc, Gorsedd and Pantasaph. It is best known as the former home of traveller and writer Thomas Pennant. The parish church of St Mary and St Beuno is thought to have been founded by St Beuno in the 7th century and later re-dedicated to St Mary after the Norman conquest. It was restored in the 19th century and is a grade I listed building.The Whitford electoral ward is coterminous with the community and elects one county councillor to Flintshire County Council.
