Faaborg

Until 1 January 2007, Faaborg municipality or Fåborg municipality was a municipality (Danish, kommune) in Funen County on the southwestern coast of the island of Funen in central Denmark. The municipality included the islands of Lyø, Bjørnø, Avernakø, and Svelmø, and covered an area of 227 km2. It had a total population of 17,325 (2005). Its last mayor was Britta Duelund, a member of the Social Democrats (Socialdemokraterne) political party. The main town and the site of its municipal council was the town of Faaborg. Faaborg municipality ceased to exist as the result of Kommunalreformen ("The Municipality Reform" of 2007). It was merged with existing Broby, Ringe, Ryslinge, and Årslev municipalities to form the new Faaborg-Midtfyn municipality. This created a municipality with an area of 638 km2 and a total population of 51,144 (2005). The new municipality belongs to Region of Southern Denmark.

Bjørnø is a Danish island south of Funen. The island covers an area of 1.5 km2 and has 32 inhabitants. The island can be reached by ferry from Faaborg.

Arreskov Lake (Danish: Arreskov Sø) is a lake in Funen, Denmark.

Arreskov is an ancient Danish manor with roots stretching back to the 13th century. It was first mentioned in historical records in 1210. The current structure represents the third incarnation of Arreskov, a testament to its pivotal role in Danish nobility and history. Situated in Øster Hæsinge Parish, Sallinge District, within Faaborg Municipality, Arreskov lies adjacent to Arreskov Lake. The manor has been the center of considerable historical interest, including being part of the County of Muckadell, established in 1784. Arreskov's main building, primarily dating from the mid-16th century, stands on land that has seen two prior manor locations. The estate's historical significance is also marked by King Valdemar the Victorious, who bequeathed Arreskov to his son Abel in 1241. However, it was destroyed during the subsequent civil war among Valdemar's sons and again in the unrest under King Erik Klipping. Later, the Crown took over the estate, likely building a fortified farmstead on the premises. The manor has also served various utilitarian roles throughout history, including being repurposed as a hospital during the Three Years' War from 1848 to 1850. Its cultural significance extends into the modern era, having been used as a filming location for the Danish film "Far til Fire - i stor stil" (Father of Four - In High Style), wherein the manor appears as a castle inherited by a character named Uncle Anders. Today, Arreskov remains owned by the Schaffalitzky de Muckadell family and is a part of the larger Muckadell estate, which includes other significant properties like Brobygård and Gelskov. It stands as a well-preserved example of a Danish noble estate, showcasing architecture from across centuries and reflecting an evolving history that continues to captivate visitors and historians alike.

Store Svelmø is a small uninhabited Danish island in the South Funen Archipelago, lying southwest of Funen. Store Svelmø covers an area of 0.27 km2.

The municipality covered an area of 100 km2, and had a total population of 6,353 (2005). Its last mayor was Erling Bonnesen, a member of the Venstre (Liberal Party) political party. The main town and the site of its municipal council was the city of Nørre Broby. Broby municipality ceased to exist as the result of Kommunalreformen ("The Municipality Reform" of 2007). It was merged with Faaborg, Ringe, Ryslinge, and Årslev municipalities to form the new Faaborg-Midtfyn municipality. This created a municipality with an area of 638 km2 and a total population of 51,144 (2005). The new municipality belongs to the Region of Southern Denmark.

Manheim is a heathen hof in Korinth in Faaborg-Midtfyn Municipality, Denmark. The building opened in 2016 and is dedicated to the Norse gods. It is owned by the designer Jim Lyngvild, a practitioner of Heathenry.

Vester Åby is a town located on the island of Funen in south Denmark, in Faaborg-Midtfyn Municipality. It is located 16 km west of Svendborg, 9 km south of Korinth, 10 km east of Faaborg and 24 km southwest of the municipality of Ringe.

Brahetrolleborg (lit. 'Brahetrolle Castle') is a castle about 10 kilometres north-west of Fåborg on the Danish island of Fyn. Before the Reformation, the structure was a Cistercian monastery known as Holme Abbey (Danish: Holme Kloster; Latin: Insula Dei). After the reformation, the property was renamed Rantzausholm in 1568 before receiving its current name in 1667. The church dates to the 13th century, while the main structure was originally constructed in the 15th century. Significant extensions and refurbishments have changed the building since, altering its original romanesque style. The estate has been owned by the Reventlow family since 1722. It is currently owned by Catharina Reventlow-Mourier, the 9th generation of the family. Together with the neighboring Brændegård property, the estate covers a total of 2607 hectares, much of which is forest.

Nørre Broby, or simply Broby, is a small town in southwest-central Funen, Denmark, to the northeast of Haarby. It was the seat of Broby Municipality between 1970 and 2006 until the municipality was dissolved and merged with Faaborg-Midtfyn Municipality. 1 January 2024 it had a population of 1,485. Nørre Broby Church (kirke), dated to around 1100, is located in the town. It also contains the Broby Library. It has a history of clover production, and farmers in the Nørre Broby area were already cultivating it in 1785.

Nybøllegård is a manor house in Funen, Denmark. It has been in the possession of a number of Danish noble families, including the Rosenkrantz and Bille families.
