River Ward

Riverside Park is a neighbourhood in the south end of Ottawa, Canada. It is bounded on the north by Brookfield Road, on the east by the Airport Parkway, on the south by the CN rail tracks and on the west by the Rideau River. The neighbourhood includes one of Ottawa's most well known beaches at Mooney's Bay and the Terry Fox Athletic Facility, along with both Vincent Massey Park, Hog's Back Park. Confederation Heights sits at the northern tip of the neighbourhood. It also includes the Ottawa Hunt and Golf Club, which has hosted professional and amateur golf tournaments. The area is served by Brookfield High School and the General Vanier, Bayview Public Schools, Georges Étienne Cartier as well as the Holy Cross Catholic School. In addition to Mooney's Bay, the area is served by four other parks; Paget Park, Marble Park, Flannery Park and Pauline Vanier Park, adjacent to General Vanier Public School. In August 2007, Bayview Public School was closed at its site on Riverside drive. Its French immersion program moved to the R. Byrns Curry Public School building (renamed Bayview Public School). R. Byrns Curry students were reassigned to General Vanier Public School (J-K to grade 3) and Fielding Drive Public School (grades 4 to 8).The neighbourhood is bifurcated by OCRR Railway. The area west of it is known as Riverside Park West and the area east of it is called Riverside Park East. The area to the south of Walkley Road is known as Riverside Park South. According to the Canada 2011 Census, the population of the neighbourhood north of Walkley (Census Tract 5050003.00) was 4564 and south of Walkley (Census Tract 5050002.01) was 2893 for a total of 7457.

St. Elias Antiochian Orthodox Cathedral is an Antiochian Eastern-Orthodox cathedral in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. It is located at 2975 Riverside Drive just east of Mooney's Bay, south of the Hog's Back Falls. The pastor of the cathedral is Fr. Nektarios Najjar.

Brookfield High School is an Ottawa-Carleton District School Board high school in the Riverside Park neighbourhood of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. It officially opened in 1962. Like most schools in Ottawa, Brookfield is composite and semestered. The school is well known for its successful language classes, athletic teams, music program, and special education department.

The Ottawa Science Fiction Society, Inc., or OSFS (pron:"Oss-Fuss") is a membership fan club in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. It is the oldest continuously operating science fiction club in Ontario.

Pauline Vanier Park is a public park in Ottawa's Riverside Park area, located on Harkness Avenue. It is named after Pauline Vanier. The park was built in the early 1960s on what had been the Munro farm, next to neighbouring General Vanier Public School. The Riverside Park Community and Recreation Association organized fireworks displays for over twenty years until changes in safety legislation required its removal to a larger area. Sheldon Ridgeway, then an Ottawa firefighter, started the public activity. After a six-year gap, the fireworks display was moved to Mooney's Bay in 2015.

Opened for the 1963-64 school year, General Vanier Public School serves Ottawa's Riverside Park East and South communities. The school was completed in 1963 on what had been the Munro farm. The school accommodated students from kindergarten through grade 6. Grades 7 and 8 were transported by bus from the school to Hopewell Avenue School.At the time of the opening in the fall of 1963, Bayview Public School on Riverside Drive was undergoing renovations. Students temporarily attended General Vanier PS.The school adjoins Pauline Vanier Park, named after the Governor-General's wife.

Mooney's Bay Park is a public park in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, on the Rideau River. Its main entrance is on Riverside Drive, opposite Ridgewood Avenue, but can also be accessed from Hog's Back Road. Mooney's Bay Park has a beach, picnic areas, a children's playground, the Sue Holloway Fitness Park, and is the site of the Terry Fox Stadium. Located at 2960 Riverside Drive, year-round activities are available such as swimming in the waters of the Rideau River, biking along paths that can take riders as far as the downtown core, and cross country skiing. A ski school is available, as are indoor change rooms. Since 2012, like all city parks and beaches, Mooney's Bay Park is regulated by a bylaw which prohibits smoking on the entire beach and park property.In the summer, Mooney's Bay Beach is one of the City of Ottawa's four supervised beaches. The city's Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services Department set up a swimming area, which is supervised by trained lifeguards from 12pm-7pm each day, from the third week in June until the third week in August. From mid-May until early September, volleyball nets can be rented per hour or for the day and stand-up paddleboards (SUPs) can be rented by the hour. This can be done from beach and lifeguard staff. After rainfalls, swimming is often prohibited due to excessive bacteria. The City of Ottawa posts water quality results on its websites and signs are posted when swimming is unsafe. Many wedding parties have their photos taken by the arched wooden bridges with weeping willows as a backdrop in the spring and summer months. Mooney's Bay is also home to Pirate Adventures, an interactive pirate-theatre cruise. Baja Burger Shack is a licensed bar and grill at Mooney's Bay. Mooney's Bay Park has been adopted by the Omicron-Pi Chapter of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity.

Terry Fox Stadium, also known as the Terry Fox Athletic Facility is an athletic field in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, named after cancer research activist Terry Fox. It has a regulation-size natural grass soccer field, surrounded by a 400-metre track. Surrounding the track are bleachers with a capacity of approximately 2,000. It is located in Mooney's Bay Park, on the west side of Riverside Drive, south of Heron Road, which is south of downtown Ottawa. The stadium hosted the track and field events at the 2001 Francophone Games. It has hosted the Pan American Combined Events Cup since 2012.

Mooney's Bay is an O-Train station along the Trillium Line located near Heron Road and Bronson Avenue in Ottawa, Ontario, which primarily serves the Government of Canada offices in the Confederation Heights area, and students from Brookfield High School. In 2011, a pedestrian and cyclist path was built to provide a direct link between Mooney's Bay Station and Brookfield Road. The station was originally named Confederation after the area in which the station is located, Confederation Heights. On December 24, 2017, the station was renamed to Mooney's Bay (after nearby Mooney's Bay Park) to avoid confusion with the O-Train's new Confederation Line, which opened in 2019.

Confederation Heights is an area in south Ottawa, Canada, made up of mostly government buildings. It is bounded on the east by Data Centre Road, on the north and west by the Rideau River and on the south by Brookfield Road. Confederation Heights includes the Clarke Memorial Centre (RA Centre), the Taxation Data Centre (Canada Revenue Agency), the Edward Drake Building (formerly Canadian Broadcasting Corporation and Communications Security Establishment), the Sir Leonard Tilley Building (formerly Communications Security Establishment), Canada Post Place (Canada Post headquarters), the Sir Charles Tupper Building (Public Works Canada), Hog's Back Park, Vincent Massey Park and Mooney's Bay station.

The Edward Drake Building (French: Édifice Edward-Drake), formerly the CBC Building, was the name of a modernist office building in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada designed by CBC's chief architect David Gordon McKinstry and constructed between 1961 and 1964.It originally served as the headquarters of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, but significant CBC budget cutbacks in the 1990s led to the relocation of the head office staff in 1997. The building was later occupied by the Communications Security Establishment (CSE) and was renamed in honour of the first director of its predecessor organisation, the Communications Branch of the National Research Council. The building occupies a large site bordered by Riverside Drive, Heron Road and Bronson Avenue. For more than four decades, it has been a landmark in south Ottawa as it is set apart from any other buildings, and it was particularly known for the large CBC/Radio Canada logo on one wing of the building (since removed). It has been designated as a "classified federal heritage building," which means that it is a federal government building that has been assigned the highest level of heritage protection.On February 26, 2015, CSE's new facility in Ottawa's east end was officially named the Edward Drake Building.

The Sir Leonard Tilley Building and Annex (French: Édifice Sir-Leonard-Tilley), is a Government of Canada office building property consisting of two buildings and operated by the Public Works and Government Services Canada and located at 719 Heron Road in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. It was designed by Bemi & Associates Architects. The floor space covers 23,832 square metres and the land area covers 4.527 hectares. Until 2015, the building housed the headquarters of the Communications Security Establishment (CSE). This building was named in honour of Samuel Leonard Tilley, federal Finance Minister in 1873–1878. The completion of a new headquarters building on Ogilvie Road led the CSE to vacate the building by 2016. Public Works Canada is preparing the buildings to allow other government departments to take their place. The Department of National Defence determined the facilities did not meet their needs but Corrections Canada, the Canada Revenue Agency and the Canada Border Services Agency were indicated as possible future tenants. The entry of new tenants is planned to be phased in over 2018–9. The cost of refurbishing the buildings to meet new standards, or Workplace 2.0, will cost about $400 million.
