Mehlville High School

The South County Opportunity for the Purpose of Education (SCOPE) program is an alternative High School program, housed at the Witzel Learning Center in Mehlville, St. Louis County, Missouri. It is part of the Mehlville School District.

The Mehlville School District, officially the Mehlville R-9 School District or Mehlville R-IX School District, is a public school district based in south St. Louis County, Missouri. It serves the unincorporated, census-designated communities of Mehlville, Oakville, Concord, and Lemay. It's offices are presently located on Mehlville High School's campus, with plans to eventually move into a vacant office building just north of the campus. The district formally began with the first graduating class of Mehlville Senior High School in 1930. The district as we know it today first consisted of smaller, independent educational entities working under a feeder school system.In the 1950s and 60s, the state government of Missouri began to combine the thousands of small, rural schools into larger districts. So, in October 1951, the Mehlville, Oakville, Point and Washington districts consolidated their schools into a single, reorganized school district, which became the modern Mehlville R-9 School District. Years later, the district dropped the R-9 title from its name, becoming the Mehlville School District. The state Department of Education, however, continues to refer to the district as "Mehlville R-9." or "Mehlville R-IX."After a rapid increase in enrollment of elementary and secondary students as a result of the increase of the area's population, bus transportation was introduced in 1951, and the district was forced to construct more educational facilities to meet the growing enrollment. Schools like Bierbaum and the old Bernard Elementary were built for this exact purpose. In 1956, the district received the official title to 45 acres formerly part of the Veterans Administration Hospital Reservation at Jefferson Barracks; the land is now home to Beasley Elementary. On May 11, 1964, the district voted to annex the Jefferson Barracks School District, acquiring what is now know as the Jefferson Barracks Building and numerous smaller facilities. In the mid-to-late 1960s, the district continued to expand, constructing Trautwein and Wohlwend Elementary in 1964 and 1969, respectively. Oakville Senior High School was established in 1970 due to overcrowding at Mehlville High School.

South County Center is a shopping mall located in Mehlville, Missouri, at the intersection between Interstate 55, Interstate 255, and U.S. Route 50. It opened on October 17, 1963 and was designed by Victor Gruen. it included a dome-roofed Famous-Barr, which became Macy's in 2006, a National Supermarket occupying the basement floor, which closed in 1973, and later JCPenney as anchors. Stix, Baer & Fuller, (which became Dillard's in 1984), was added in 1973 along with a new wing of stores. A Sears, a food court, and additional mall stores were added in 2001. In 2004, Several stores and restaurants were added that could be accessed from outside the mall including Qdoba, Applebee's (closed in 2015; replaced by DXL in 2016), Noodle's and Company, and Border's ( closed in 2011; replaced by Vintage Stock in 2012). The anchor stores are Macy's, Dillard's, JCPenney, DXL Men's Apparel, and Vintage Stock. In 1990, the mall was purchased by The Westfield Group, which retained ownership until 2007. CBL & Associates Properties, Inc. bought South County Center and three other Westfield malls as part of their expansion into the St. Louis area.

It is owned and operated by Gray Television alongside CBS affiliate KMOV (channel 4). The St. Louis Islamic Center (STLIC) is a Bosnian Islamic organization and mosque in St. Louis, Missouri, founded in early 2010. STLIC is part of the Islamic Community of North America Bosniaks (ICNAB) and it was founded due to the growing need for organization of the already matured community of Bosniaks in St. Louis. Members of STLIC established an institution that will work, together with other Bosniak institutions, to protect Bosniaks from complete alienation from religion and their tradition, with a specific emphasis on programs that will preserve the youth from complete negative assimilation. It is also focused on the religious and moral regeneration of Bosniaks in St. Louis and further.

St. George or Saint George is an unincorporated community and former incorporated city in St. Louis County, Missouri, United States. The population was 1,337 at the 2010 census.On November 8, 2011, St. George residents voted 345–128 to disincorporate. The city became part of unincorporated St. Louis County.

Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery is an American military cemetery located in St. Louis County, Missouri, just on the banks of the Mississippi River. The cemetery was established after the American Civil War in an attempt to put together a formal network of military cemeteries. It started as the Jefferson Barracks Military Post Cemetery in 1826 and became a United States National Cemetery in 1866. The first known burial was Elizabeth Ann Lash, the infant child of an officer stationed at Jefferson Barracks. The cemetery is administered by the Department of Veterans Affairs on the former site of Jefferson Barracks. It covers 331 acres (134 ha) and the number of interments as of 2021 is approximately 237,000. The cemetery is listed in the National Register of Historic Places.
