WRNS (960 kHz) is an AM radio station broadcasting a sports gambling format featuring programming from VSiN Radio, as well as an affiliate for Carolina Panthers NFL football. Licensed to Kinston, North Carolina, United States, the station is owned by Dick Broadcasting, through licensee Dick Broadcasting Company, Inc. of Tennessee.

WRNS-FM is an FM radio station located in Kinston, North Carolina in the United States. Its format is contemporary country. Broadcasting at 95.1 MHz, the station has a non-directional signal of 100,000 watts, that reaches "from the capital to the coast". The station has served Kinston and eastern North Carolina since the 1960s, when it was WFTC-FM. At one time, it was the only country station in the area and had one of the highest market shares of any station. Known for its generosity, the station has held a radiothon for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital annually for the past 5 years. The station is constantly ranked as the #1 station in its market by Arbitron. The WRNS-FM transmitter antenna is located on WCTI-TV's tower north of Trenton, North Carolina. Studios are located in New Bern. In September 2017, Dick Broadcasting announced the purchase of Alpha Media stations in three markets — 18 stations and two translators in total, at a purchase price of $19.5 million. The acquisition of WRNS-FM by Dick Broadcasting was consummated on December 20, 2017. Jim Mantel, who spent 18 years on WGAR-FM in Cleveland and was named to the Country Radio Hall of Fame in 2017, retired in 2018 after hosting the morning show since 2010, joined by Crystal Legends in 2012. Bobby Bones moved from co-owned WQSL/WQZL to replace Mantel, and Legends, also program director, moved to middays.

Cedar Dell, also known as Kennedy Memorial Home, is a historic plantation house located near Falling Creek, Lenoir County, North Carolina. It was originally constructed about 1820 as a two-story, three bay, Federal style brick dwelling with a side-hall plan. It was enlarged to five bays wide and converted to a Victorian Gothic central hall plan mansion. The front facade features a one-story Eastlake-style porch with a low roof topped by a wrought iron balustrade and the rear facade has a two-tier porch. Also on the front facade is a large bay window with a roof identical to that on the porch. The house and property were deeded for use as an orphanage in 1912.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1971. It is located in the Kennedy Memorial Home Historic District.

Kennedy Memorial Home Historic District, also known as Cedar Dell, is a historic farm and national historic district located near Kinston, Lenoir County, North Carolina. It encompasses 29 contributing buildings, 7 contributing sites and 5 contributing structures. The district includes an orphanage owned by the Baptist Children's Homes of North Carolina and constructed from 1914 to 1959. Located in the district is the separately listed Federal style Cedar Dell plantation home. Other contributing resources are the Jar Room/Shop (1920s), potato curing barn (1920s), Pollock Cottage (1936), Kennedy Memorial Home Baptist Church (1956), Jones Swimming Pool (1957), Cedar Dell Cemetery (1830s-1929), and Brogden Food Locker (1950s).It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2009.

Richard Caswell (August 3, 1729 – November 10, 1789) was an American politician and lawyer who served as the first and fifth governor of the state of North Carolina from 1776 to 1780 and from 1785 to 1787. He also served as a senior officer of militia in the Southern Theater of the American Revolutionary War. He was a signatory of the Continental Association and thus considered one of the Founding Fathers of the United States.

Caswell Developmental Center is a center for adults with intellectual disabilities and other developmental disabilities in Kinston, North Carolina, United States. The Center started in 1911 and is still operating today.

Lenoir County is a county in the U.S. state of North Carolina. As of the 2020 Census, its population was 55,122. Its county seat is Kinston, located on the Neuse River, across which the county has its territory. Lenoir County comprises the Kinston Micropolitan statistical area.

North Lenoir High School is a public high school in La Grange, North Carolina serving grades 9–12. It was created as part of school consolidation of Contentnea, Wheat Swamp and La Grange schools in 1964. The school reports 100 percent of its students are economically challenged. In 2024, 40.6 percent of the student body was white, 39.3% was black and 15.9 percent Hispanic. It won back to back state championships in basketball. The school's mascot was originally a buccaneer and then a hawk. The school colors are black and white. The school is part of the North Carolina High School Athletic Association and its teams compete in the 2A Conference. The school won state baseball championships in 2005 and 2006. The football coach resigned in 2022 after a rough season. Alumni include Daniel Leon Morgan who played basketball professionally in Finland. A tenth grader won a national essay contest in 2020. She was the first ever winner from North Carolina.

Jesse Jackson House is a historic home located near Kinston, Lenoir County, North Carolina. It was built about 1840, and is a two-story, five bay, Greek Revival style frame dwelling. It has a gable roof, sits on a brick foundation, and has flanking concave shouldered chimneys. The front facade features a one-story porch featuring a diminutive entablature supported by wooden pillars.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1971.

The North Carolina Global TransPark (GTP) is a 2,500 acre, multi-modal industrial/airport site in Eastern North Carolina. As an agency of the State of North Carolina, the GTP is considered a key engine for driving the economy of Eastern North Carolina. The park offers access to multi-modal transportation options: air, rail, highways, and North Carolina's two international ports. The GTP is part of an economic development initiative in eastern North Carolina intended to spur transition in the region from an agricultural base to one of skilled labor and industrial manufacturing. Industries targeted by the GTP are aerospace, defense and logistics sectors.

Arendell Parrott Academy is a non-sectarian private school located in Kinston, North Carolina, for grades K–12. The school was the vision of Marion Parrot, a local attorney and state representative. After struggling for a few years to gain support, the untimely death of their son, Arendall, provided the inspiration to Parrott family to open the school. However, their efforts did not come to fruition for several years, when Federally forced desegregation of the public schools created an interest among White Parents to flee to private schools. While there were no Black students, some people linked to the school deny that it was founded as a segregation academy in response to the court ordered integration of public schools, while one founder stated that it was not a choice for Black students.
