Working Men's College

Oakley Square is a crescent-shaped garden square in Somers Town in Central London, close to Mornington Crescent and Camden Town. It is located in the London Borough of Camden and runs roughly northeastwards from Eversholt Street meeting with the southern end of Camden Street on its eastern side. It was originally part of the Bedford Estate belonging to the Dukes of Bedford, and takes its name from the village of Oakley in Bedfordshire which belonged to the family from the eighteenth century. It was laid out in the early Victorian era, later than nearby Mornington Crescent and Arlington Road and around the same time as Harrington Square. On the northern side some of the Victorian terraced housing still exists as well as the redbrick Working Men's College established in 1854. On the southern side the original buildings have been replaced by more recent developments. The Godwin Court Council apartment block was built on the east end of the square on a large bomb site, there was also a EWS (Emergency Water Supply) tank on the bomb site, Godwin Court was built after 1946. The white stucco Victorian lodge in the gardens is now Grade II listed as are a number of the houses. From 1854 the square was home to the Anglican St Matthew's Church, designed by John Johnson, but this was later deconsecrated and finally demolished in 1977, although the old vicarage still survives, which is also now Grade II listed.

KOKO (previously called The Music Machine and Camden Palace) is a concert venue and former theatre in Camden Town, London, England. The building was known as Camden Palace from 1982 until its 2004 purchase and extensive restoration, led by Oliver Bengough and Mint Entertainment. Since, the club has been known as KOKO and serves as one of the premier live music venues in London.On the evening of 6 January 2020, a large fire broke out in the building.

Buttoned Down Disco is a large and long-running London nightclub playing indie and electro founded by Christian Laing and Rachel Laing in 2002, with Christian as the resident DJ.The first night was in October 2002. The location of the club was revealed after an electronic invitation was requested. A pioneering concept at the time. In 2006, Buttoned Down Disco became a resident at KOKO. Buttoned Down Disco has also taken place in major festivals including Glastonbury, Lovebox, Reading and Latitude.Buttoned Down Disco took its name from the third track from Cornershop's disco inspired album Disco and the Halfway to Discontent as part of their side-project, Clinton. The club then influenced the song "M.R.S.T." by The Electric Riot where "Buttoned Down Discos" were mentioned in the lyrics.

The Royal Veterinary College (informally the RVC) is a veterinary school located in London and a member institution of the federal University of London. The RVC was founded in 1791 and joined the University of London in 1949. It is the oldest and largest Veterinary school in the United Kingdom, and one of only nine in the country where students can study to become a vet.

Mornington Crescent is a London Underground station in Somers Town in north west London, named after the nearby street. The station is on the Charing Cross branch of the Northern line, between Euston and Camden Town. It is in Travelcard Zone 2. The station was opened as part of the original route of the Charing Cross, Euston & Hampstead Railway (now the Charing Cross branch of the Northern line) on 22 June 1907. The surface building was designed by the Underground Electric Railways Company of London's (UERL's) architect Leslie Green in the Modern Style (British Art Nouveau style). Prior to the station's opening, the name of "Seymour Street" had been proposed. After opening, it was little used. For many years it was open only on weekdays, and before 1966 Edgware-bound trains passed through without stopping.

The Burma Railway Memorial is a memorial near Mornington Crescent tube station, in Camden High Street, London, to the thousands of British civilian and military prisoners of war in the Far East who died of disease, starvation or maltreatment while building the Burma Railway during the Second World War . The memorial was designed by Chris Roche of 11.04 Architects, following a campaign in the Camden New Journal, and features a granite slab supported by short crossed sections of wooden railway sleepers and metal rails, mounted on a white circular plinth. The slab bears an inscription, and is also inscribed with an image of an emaciated Far East prisoner of war (FEPOW) drawn by the artist Ronald Searle, who was himself forced to work on the Burma Railway.The memorial was unveiled on 21 September 2012 by John Slim, 2nd Viscount Slim, whose father, Field Marshal William Slim, 1st Viscount Slim, commanded the 14th Army in the Burma Campaign during the Second World War.

Unity Theatre was a theatre club formed in 1936, and initially based in St Judes Hall, Britannia Street, Somers Town, London NW1. In 1937, it moved to a former chapel in Goldington Street, also in Somers Town, an area which is part of the present day London Borough of Camden. Although the theatre was destroyed by fire in 1975, productions continued sporadically until 1994, when the site was sold for social housing. Unity Mews is today on the site and a bronze plaque commemorates the theatre. It had links to the Left Book Club Theatre Guild and the Communist Party of Great Britain. By the end of the theatre's first decade, it had spawned 250 branches throughout Britain.

Regent High School (RHS), formerly South Camden Community School (SCCS; 1993 to 2012) and Sir William Collins Secondary School (1951 to 1993), is a co-educational comprehensive secondary school in Somers Town, in the London Borough of Camden, England. The name was last changed in an attempt to shed what staff feared was a "negative perception" of the school rooted in its past. The school enjoyed an extensive rebuilding and refurbishment programme from 2011 to 2013. The school's accreditations include Healthy Schools, Sportmark, Leading Parent Partnership award and International Schools status.

The London Borough of Islington ( (listen) IZ-ling-tən) is a London borough in Inner London. The borough includes a significant area to the south which forms part of central London. Islington has an estimated population of 215,667. It was formed in 1965 under the London Government Act 1963, which simultaneously abolished the metropolitan boroughs of Islington and Finsbury.The new entity remains the second smallest borough in London and the third-smallest district in England. The borough contains two Westminster parliamentary constituencies, both formerly represented by Labour Members of Parliament: Jeremy Corbyn, the party's leader from 2015 to 2020, represents Islington North and currently sits as an independent after the whip was withdrawn in October 2020, and Emily Thornberry represents Islington South & Finsbury. The local authority is Islington Council. The borough is home to football club Arsenal, one of the premier league clubs in England and its home Emirates Stadium. The southern part of the borough, south of the A501 Pentonville Road and City Road, forms part of central London, central London congestion charging zone and the Ultra Low Emission Zone. A significant part of the southern section of the borough borders the City of London, with the area to the west bordering the London Borough of Camden. The central London area includes Farringdon and Old Street stations both in Zone 1.
