Florida's 27th congressional district is an electoral district for the U.S. Congress and was first created in South Florida during 2012, effective January 2013, as a result of the 2010 census. The first candidates ran in the 2012 House elections, and the winner was seated for the 113th Congress on January 3, 2013. The 27th district is located entirely within Miami-Dade County. The district includes parts of Miami south of the Dolphin Expressway, including Downtown and Little Havana, Coral Gables, and Kendall. In the 2020 redistricting cycle, Miami Beach was drawn out of the district and into the 24th district, while several places in unincorporated Miami-Dade County, such as Palmetto Estates and parts of Fontainebleau and Westchester were drawn into the 27th district. The district is currently represented by Republican Maria Elvira Salazar, serving since January 12, 2021. She was first elected in 2020 after defeating Representative Donna Shalala in a rematch of the 2018 race.

East Perrine was a census-designated place in Miami-Dade County, Florida at the time of the 2000 census. In the 1990 census it was part of Perrine census-designated place. It has since been incorporated into the Village of Palmetto Bay. The population was 7,079 at the 2000 census.

West Perrine is a census-designated place (CDP) in Miami-Dade County, Florida, United States. It is part of the Miami metropolitan area of South Florida. The population was 10,602 at the 2020 census, up from 9,460 in 2010.

Palmetto Bay Academy is the premier, independent, non-traditional secondary school located in Miami, Florida. It was founded in the year 2000 by Lois Dimos M.Ed who was joined by her husband James, Dimos B.A. a few years later. It has hosted hundreds of students over the years who benefitted from a small school environment. In 2015 Mrs. Dimos and Mr. Dimos transitioned to an off-campus leadership role and a new director and associate director were hired. Margaret Eubanks, M.E.d, M.L.S., B.C.S.E., was hired as Director and John Eubanks, M.E.d. was hired as Associate Director. In 2020 Margaret Eubanks and John Eubanks became owners of the school. The school offers college preparatory academic programming in a socially and emotionally supportive setting. Electives, clubs and events make up a large part of the overall curriculum. In the latter part of 2019 and into 2020 Palmetto Bay Academy transitioned seemelessly to distance learning, due to its history of supporting on-campuys as well as homebound students. The student body returned to fully on-campus as of August 2021, however the school still serves homebound students as well. Palmetto Bay Academy is fully accredited by AdvancEd/SACS/Congia The school enrolls up to 42 students per year on campus and works with students through distance education as well.

Cutler Bay is an incorporated town in Miami-Dade County, Florida, United States, established in 2005. With a population of 45,425 as of the 2020 US census, it is part of the Miami metropolitan area of South Florida. Cutler Bay is the 9th most populous of the 34 municipalities that make up Miami's urban core, and the 33rd most populous of the 163 municipalities.

Palmetto Estates is an unincorporated area and census-designated place (CDP) in Miami-Dade County, Florida, United States. It is part of the Miami metropolitan area of South Florida. The population was 13,498 at the 2020 census.

Miami Southridge Senior High School is a secondary school located in South Miami Heights, Florida (Miami postal address). Its current principal is Humberto J. Miret. The school serves ninth through twelfth grade students in a mostly unincorporated suburban and rural area in the southern stretches of Miami-Dade County between South Miami and Homestead.

Palmer Trinity School is an independent, college-preparatory, coeducational Episcopal day school located on 55 acres (220,000 m2) in Palmetto Bay, Florida (a Miami suburb). The school currently enrolls more than 770 students in grades 6–12.Palmer Trinity is the only Episcopal middle school and secondary school in Miami-Dade County, and along with Saint Andrew's School in Boca Raton, is one of two secondary schools in the Episcopal Diocese of Southeast Florida. Coral Reef Senior High School is a secondary school located at 10101 S.W. 152nd Street in Richmond Heights, Florida, United States. The principal is Nicole Bergé-MacInnes. Coral Reef is locally known as "Miami's Mega Magnet School" since it offers six different magnet programs. According to Newsweek's list of the 1,000 Top U.S. Schools in 2008, the school was ranked at 19th in the nation, making it 4th in the state of Florida at the time. In 2007, 2006 and 2005, it had ranked 22nd, 29th and 13th, respectively. This ranking is based on a ratio devised by Jay Mathews, which takes the number of Advanced Placement or International Baccalaureate tests taken by all students at a school in that school year and divides it by the number of graduating seniors. Coral Reef is currently ranked No.134 of the top high schools in the nation.

Southland Mall, originally known as Cutler Ridge Mall, is a shopping mall in Cutler Bay (formerly Cutler Ridge), Florida. It opened in 1978 as an extension of the Cutler Ridge Shopping Center, which itself was opened in 1960 (shortly after its "grand reopening", Cutler Ridge Mall moniker was subsequently applied to the entire shopping center complex). Subsequent additions extended the mall in the early to mid-1980s.

Lakes by the Bay is a neighborhood and former census-designated place (CDP) in Miami-Dade County, Florida, United States. The population was 9,055 at the 2000 census. In 2005, the area of the CDP was included in the town of Cutler Bay.
