Brinsley

Brinsley Colliery was a coal mine in west Nottinghamshire, close to the boundary with Derbyshire, in what is now Broxtowe district.

Hall Park Academy (formerly Eastwood Comprehensive School) is a coeducational secondary school and sixth form located in Eastwood in the English county of Nottinghamshire.Previously a community school administered by Nottinghamshire County Council, Eastwood Comprehensive School converted to academy status on 1 July 2014 and was renamed Hall Park Academy. The school is now sponsored by the Redhill Academy Trust, however Hall Park Academy continues to coordinate with Nottinghamshire County Council for admissions. Hall Park Academy offers GCSEs, BTECs and NVQs as programmes of study for pupils, while students in the sixth form have the option to study from a range of A Levels and further BTECs.

Ashfield () is a local government district in Nottinghamshire, England. The population of Ashfield was 127,200 in 2018. The district is mostly urban and forms part of both the Nottingham and Mansfield Urban Areas. There are three towns in the district; Sutton-in-Ashfield, Kirkby-in-Ashfield and Hucknall. The district was formed on 1 April 1974, under the Local Government Act 1972, by the merger of urban districts of Hucknall, Kirkby-in-Ashfield, Sutton-in-Ashfield and parts of Basford Rural District, namely the parishes of Annesley, Felley and Selston. The largest settlement is Sutton-in-Ashfield. Bagthorpe is a village in Nottinghamshire, England. It is in the civil parish of Selston.

The D. H. Lawrence Birthplace Museum is a writer's home museum dedicated to the writer D. H. Lawrence situated in Eastwood, near Nottingham. It is the house in which he was born in 1885, and one of the four houses the family occupied in Eastwood. Now a museum, visitors can visit the building via guided or self-guided tour.

Eastwood and Langley Mill railway station is a former railway station serving the town of Eastwood and the village of Langley Mill in Derbyshire, England. It was opened by the Great Northern Railway on its Derbyshire Extension in 1875–6.It lay on the branch from Awsworth Junction, where it crossed the Giltbrook Viaduct, on the way to Pinxton. At the time it was in Nottinghamshire, but since recent boundary changes it would now be in on the border of Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire. It closed in 1963 and was demolished by 1976, and the trackbed was used for the Eastwood Bypass. Langley Mill and Eastwood was nearby on the Midland Railway Erewash Valley Line.

Eastwood is a former coal mining town in the Broxtowe district of Nottinghamshire, England, 8 miles (13 km) northwest of Nottingham and 10 miles (16 km) northeast of Derby on the border between Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire. Mentioned in Domesday Book, it expanded rapidly during the Industrial Revolution. The Midland Railway was formed here and it is the birthplace of D. H. Lawrence. The distinctive dialect of East Midlands English is extensively spoken, in which the name of the town is pronounced .

The Church of St Michael and All Angels, Underwood is a parish church in the Church of England in Underwood, Nottinghamshire. The church is Grade II listed by the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport as it is a building of special architectural or historic interest.

The Raleigh Bicycle Company is a British bicycle manufacturer based in Nottingham, England and founded by Woodhead and Angois in 1885. Using Raleigh as their brand name, it is one of the oldest bicycle companies in the world. After being acquired by Frank Bowden in December 1888, it became The Raleigh Cycle Company, which was registered as a limited liability company in January 1889. By 1913, it was the largest bicycle manufacturing company in the world. From 1921 to 1935, Raleigh also produced motorcycles and three-wheel cars, leading to the formation of Reliant Motors. Raleigh bicycle is now a division of the Dutch corporation Accell.In 2006, the Raleigh Chopper was named in the list of British design icons in the Great British Design Quest organised by the BBC and the Design Museum.

Langley Mill railway station (formerly known as Langley Mill for Heanor and Langley Mill and Eastwood) on the Erewash Valley Line serves the large village of Langley Mill and the towns of Heanor in Derbyshire and Eastwood in Nottinghamshire, England. The station is 12 miles (19 km) north of Nottingham. The station lies between Nottingham and Sheffield and is managed by East Midlands Railway.

Underwood is a hilltop village within the civil parish of Selston in the English ceremonial county of Nottinghamshire. The village is a ward of Ashfield with a population of 2,953 taken at the 2011 Census. It stands in a former coal mining area in the Hidden Valleys and is in the local government district of Ashfield. The village offers views across the Erewash Valley towards the Southern Pennines. It is situated near to junction 27 of the M1 and is bordered by Bagthorpe and Selston, and Brinsley and Moorgreen to the south. The gardens of Felley Priory are accessible from the village. It is part of Nottinghamshire's 'Hidden Valleys' area. Bagthorpe Primary School and Underwood Church of England Primary School have good reputations, and as a consequence the area is a desirable one for families. This has increased house prices in Underwood and Bagthorpe, especially in Lower Bagthorpe and the area along Main Road, Underwood. The village has a number of pubs including The Hole in the Wall, The Red Lion, The Shepherds Rest, Dixies Arms and The Dog & Quayle (previously The Sandhills). Underwood Miners Welfare Cricket Club was founded in 1894 and is on Church Lane in Underwood. The club has three senior teams, two playing on Saturday in divisions D and L of the South Notts Cricket League and one on a Sunday in Section 1 of the Mansfield and District Cricket League.
