Abbey Road Studios

The Abbey Christian School was a school set up to teach English as a foreign language to prospective Christian missionaries. It was based in the extensive premises of Abbey Road Baptist Church in London, England and ran for forty years, from 1962 to 2002. The school was set up by Pastor LR Barnard of Abbey Road Baptist Church. From small beginnings it grew until it was taking in 60 to 70 students each term from countries all around the world. It closed on 14 June 2002.

Abercorn School is a 'family' of schools in central London which offers an inspiring and caring academic atmosphere for pupils ages 2-13 years. In September 2021, Abercorn School announced that the school will begin welcoming 13-14 year olds from September 2022 as part of a wider expansion plan to welcome 11-18 year olds over the coming years. As part of this expansion, additional premises have been secured. Abercorn School now has four separate premises, all within walking distance in St John's Wood and Marylebone, London. The school was opened in 1987 by Andrea Greystoke.Abercorn uses the Early Years Foundation Stage and the National Curriculum as a basis for teaching. Pupils typically move on to a wide range of Independent secondary schools or boarding schools, with students now also progressing on to Abercorn's new Senior School. Pupils are prepared for the 11+ and 13+ examinations. Abercorn School is a member of ISA, the Independent Schools Association, and also IAPS, the Independent Association of Preparatory Schools.Around a third of students at Abercorn are international, a significant number of which are from North America.

Abercorn Place is a street in St John's Wood in London. Located in the City of Westminster, it runs west to east from the Edgware Road at Maida Vale until it joins Abbey Road not far from the Abbey Road Studios to the south. It is crossed by Hamilton Terrace. The street is named after the Duke of Abercorn, an Anglo-Irish aristocrat. It was part of an estate originally owned by Harrow School of which Abercorn was a governor with other nearby streets similarly named. The street contains a mixture of housing from the 1820s onwards. Several buildings in the street are listed today. The Anglican St Mark's Church was built in 1847 at the intersection with Hamilton Terrace. It was designed in the Gothic style by the architect Thomas Cundy.In 1908 a proposed extension of the Bakerloo Line would have seen a station called Abercorn Place built at the junction with Edgware Road, but this was rejected. When the line was extended in 1915, on a different route, the station was placed a little to the west on Elgin Avenue and renamed Maida Vale. Residents of the street have included the artist Charles Robert Leslie, the writer Christopher Sclater Millard and the actress Ingeborg von Kusserow.

Marlborough Place is a street in St John's Wood in London, England. Located in the City of Westminster it is a residential road running from Hamilton Terrace in the west to the Finchley Road in the east. Like many British streets, its name derives from the Dukes of Marlborough.The area was developed in the nineteenth century as the capital expanded into new suburbs, and the building designs mostly date from the Victorian era with a number of twentieth century additions. Much of the street was known as Marlborough Road before its renaming in the 1950s. The Metropolitan Line tube station Marlborough Road opened in 1868 was named after it, although its station entrance was on Queen's Grove on the opposite side of the Finchley Road. The biologist Thomas Henry Huxley lived in the street, and is commemorated with a blue plaque dating from 1910.

The school's mission statement is: "The American School in London empowers each student to thrive as a lifelong learner and courageous global citizen by fostering intellect, creativity, inclusivity and character."Many students have at least one parent with a U.S. passport, but the school's admissions policy stresses that the school tries to admit a diverse student body. The school takes children aged four through 18 and provides an education based in American pedagogy with an international perspective. The kindergarten classes are inspired by the Reggio Emilia method. The school has been rated "requires improvement" by Ofsted.

New London Synagogue is a Masorti synagogue and congregation in St John's Wood, London, in the United Kingdom. It was founded in 1964 by followers of Rabbi Dr Louis Jacobs, following the "Jacobs Affair" in which Rabbi Jacobs was refused employment in the United Synagogue due to alleged heresy. It is the founding synagogue of the Masorti movement in the UK, which was established in 1985. Its congregation is made up of approximately 500 households. The current rabbinic leadership are Rabbi Jeremy Gordon and Rabbi Natasha Mann.

St Mark's Church, Hamilton Terrace, is an Anglican church in the St John's Wood neighbourhood of London, located at the intersection of Abercorn Place and Hamilton Terrace. Dating to 1846–1847, it was designed by Thomas Cundy with a spire built by his son in 1864, and is Grade II* listed with Historic England.The church contains an excellent collection of mosaics by Salviati.

The Anglo-French Art Centre (or Anglo-French Art School, previously the St John's Wood Art School, was an art school at 29 Elm Tree Road in St John's Wood, north London, England. The centre was founded in 1946 by Alfred Rozelaar Green, who studied in Paris at the Académie Julian and Atelier Gromaire before the Second World War. He moved to London at the end of the war and aimed to revolutionise British art education. He invited artists from France and other countries to exhibit and teach. Artists included Robert Couturier, Fernand Léger, André Lhote, Jean Lurçat, Agnès Capri and Germaine Richier. He was also supported by English artists who visited to give lectures, including Francis Bacon, Henry Moore, Victor Pasmore and Julian Trevelyan. Other lecturers included art critics and museum directors. Students included Dora Holzhandler, Anne Dunn, Breon O'Casey. Forty-Eight Theatre, a company formed and supported by Velona Pilcher and directed by David Tutaev, rehearsed and performed at the centre in the late 1940s. The centre closed in 1951.

The St John's Wood Art School (a.k.a. The Wood or Calderon's Art School) was an art school in St John's Wood, north London, England. The Art School was established in 1878 and was located on Elm Tree Road. It was founded by two art teachers, Elíseo Abelardo Alvarez Calderón (1847-1911) and Bernard Evans Ward. Lewis Baumer and Byam Shaw were early students. Later students included Mina Loy, John Armstrong, Michael Ayrton, Gladys Baker, Gladys Barron, Eileen Bell, Enid Bell, Frank Beresford, Alice May Cook, Marcia Lane Foster, Meredith Frampton, Kenneth Martin, G. K. Chesterton, John Minton, Olive Mudie-Cooke, Edward Tennyson Reed, Ursula Wood, Ivan Peries, Herbert James Draper, Flora Lion, Gluck, Leonard Walker and Christopher R. W. Nevinson. Aina Onabolu, the first African to study art in England was a student at the School from 1920 to 1922. Teachers at the School included Vanessa Bell, John Piper, Leonard Walker and John Skeaping. The School subsequently became the Anglo-French Art Centre, which was founded in 1946 by Alfred Rozelaar Green, who studied in Paris at the Académie Julian and Atelier Gromaire.

Hamilton Terrace is a wide, tree-lined residential thoroughfare in St John's Wood, London, England. It runs north to south from Carlton Hill to St. John's Wood Road, and is parallel to Maida Vale to the west. The street was named after Charles Hamilton, a Harrow School governor.The street is home to a variety of grand detached and semi-detached houses and mansion blocks.
