WCHV-FM is a news/talk formatted broadcast radio station licensed to Charlottesville, Virginia, serving Charlottesville and Albemarle County, Virginia. WCHV-FM is owned and operated by Monticello Media.

Tandem Friends School is a coeducational secondary school founded in 1970 in Albemarle County, Virginia, just outside Charlottesville, by educators John Howard and Duncan Alling. In 1995, it joined the Friends Council on Education, adopting the educational beliefs and practices of the Quakers. The current head of school is Whitney Thompson. The Upper School, grades 9-12, has approximately 130 students, while the Middle School, grades 5-8, has approximately 105 students. The head of the Upper School is Russell Combs, and the head of the Middle School is Paul Cronin. The mascot is a badger and the original mascot was a tree.

Monticello High School (MHS) is a suburban public high school located in Albemarle County, Virginia, United States outside Charlottesville. Opened in 1998, it is one of three traditional comprehensive high schools in the Albemarle County Public Schools System. The school is named after Monticello, the nearby estate of President Thomas Jefferson. With an enrollment of 1,185 students in grades 9 through 12, Monticello receives students from Walton and Burley Middle Schools, which cover the southern and eastern portions of Albemarle county. The school colors are black and gold, and the mascot is a Mustang. The school's fight song uses the tune of The Victors. Effective in the 2019–20 school year, Monticello, along with all the other Albemarle County high schools, operates on a Four-by-Four yearlong schedule, with two sets of classes alternating days and Fridays switching between the two. Dr. Beth Costa became Monticello High School's seventh principal in July 2022.

Morven is a historic home located near Simeon, Albemarle County, Virginia. It was built about 1821, and consists of a two-story, five bay by two bay, brick main block with a two-story, three bay brick wing. The front facade features a one-bay porch with a pedimented gable roof and Tuscan order entablature, supported by four Tuscan columns. Also on the property are the contributing office and frame smokehouse.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1973.

Piedmont Virginia Community College (PVCC) is a public community college in Charlottesville, Virginia. It offers associate degrees, one-year certificates, continuing education, and workforce training. The campus is located in Albemarle County, Virginia, south of Charlottesville. As part of the statewide Virginia Community College System, PVCC serves the City of Charlottesville and the counties of Albemarle, Buckingham, Fluvanna, Greene, Louisa and Nelson. PVCC was chartered in 1972. PVCC has been accredited since 1974 by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award associate degrees.

Highland, formerly Ash Lawn–Highland, located near Charlottesville, Virginia, United States, and adjacent to Thomas Jefferson's Monticello, was the estate of James Monroe, a Founding Father and fifth president of the United States. Purchased in 1793, Monroe and his family permanently settled on the property in 1799 and lived at Highland for twenty-five years. Personal debt forced Monroe to sell the plantation in 1825. Before and after selling Highland, Monroe spent much of his time living at the plantation house at his large Oak Hill estate near Leesburg, Virginia. Monroe named his Charlottesville home "Highland". For many years after Monroe's death until 2016, the house was known as Ash Lawn-Highland or merely Ash Lawn. The estate is now owned, operated and maintained by Monroe's alma mater, the College of William & Mary.

Blue Ridge Sanatorium was a sanatorium for the treatment of tuberculosis located outside of Charlottesville, Virginia, United States. The site was originally known as Moore's Brook and was operated as a private mental institution. One of its central buildings, Lyman Mansion, dates to 1875. Dr. D. M. Trice served as the director of Moore's Brook and used the grounds as a farm to breed prizewinning Berkshire pigs. As of 1908, August Mencken, younger brother of H. L. Mencken, was doing civil engineering work at the institution.

Michie Tavern (Pron: /ˈmɪki/), located in Albemarle County, Virginia, is a Virginia Historic Landmark that was established in 1784 by Scotsman William Michie, though in Earlysville. The Tavern served as the social center of its community and provided travelers with food, drink and lodging. It remained in operation, in the Michie family, until 1910, when it came to be owned by the Commonwealth of Virginia. In 1927, the Tavern was purchased by Josephine Henderson, who had it moved seventeen miles from Earlysville to its present location, close to Monticello.

Sunnyfields is a historic home located between Monticello and Ash Lawn-Highland near Simeon, Albemarle County, Virginia. It was built in 1833, and is a two-story, nearly square brick structure painted white. It has a two-story corner tower, dating to either from just before or just after the American Civil War, and two-story, frame wing. Also on the property is a contributing servants' cottage. It was designed and built by William B. Phillips, who was employed by Thomas Jefferson as principal builder at the University of Virginia.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1993.

Biscuit Run State Park is a planned state park located in Albemarle County, Virginia. The park property was originally planned for a large residential development. In January 2010, as real estate values reeled from the burst housing bubble and ensuing recession, the state negotiated the purchase of the property from developer Forest Lodge, LLC for $21.48 million in cash and tax credits.A master plan for the development of the park was approved in 2013. It consisted of three phases: Phase 1: Provides for the construction of trails, playgrounds and park buildings. Cost: $15.5 million. Phase 2: Additions include campgrounds and trailheads for bicycle and hiking trails. Cost $13.4 million Phase 3: Includes rental cabins, road connections across the parks and equestrian trails and parking facilities. Cost: $13.6 millionIn January 2018, Terry McAuliffe announced a 99-year lease of the property to Albemarle County.The construction of Phase 1A Entrance, Parking and Trailhead by the County of Albemarle is scheduled to begin in October 2023. Substantial completion of Phase 1A - and the official park opening and beginning of authorized public access - is scheduled for Spring 2024.
