Monk's Walk School is a secondary school with academy status located on the outskirts of Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire, England. It opened in 1964 and became an Academy in 2012. The school's motto is: "Excellence for All". The school's annual student intake is approximately 220 eleven- and twelve-year-olds of both sexes, with 1,324 students throughout the school. It also has approximately 185 teachers and staff.

Sherrardspark Wood (grid reference TL230139) is a 74.9 hectare (185.1 acre) biological site of Special Scientific Interest in Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire. The site was notified in 1986 under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981.It is located to the north west of Welwyn Garden City and is an ancient woodland consisting mainly of Sessile oak and Hornbeam. It is used by dog walkers, joggers, cyclists, and horse riders. The area was designated by English Nature a Site of Special Scientific Interest in 1986 as well as a Local Nature Reserve in 1998. The Sherrardspark Wood Wardens' Society assists with the maintenance of the wood. There are a number of walks through the wood, one of which follows the disused Luton/Dunstable branch line from Welwyn Garden City railway station. This line closed in the 1970s and runs from the White Bridge on Digswell Road west and then north to the Great North Road next to the A1(M) motorway, close to the Red Lion pub. The trail continues from Ayot St Peter on the other side of the motorway along Ayot Greenway.

Stanborough Reedmarsh is a 3.3 hectare Local Nature Reserve in Welwyn Garden City in Hertfordshire. It is owned by Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council and managed by the Herts and Middlesex Wildlife Trust.The site is wet willow woodland on the bank of the River Lea. It is important for water voles and birds such as reed and sedge warblers. Water figwort, common meadow rue and water chickweed grow along the river bank.There is access to the site from Stanborough Road through Stanborough Park.

Station IX (formerly known as the Inter-Services Research Bureau) was a secret British Special Operations Executive factory making special weapons and equipment during World War II. The small Welbike paratrooper's motorcycle and the Welrod assassination weapon were both products of the station.

The Frythe is a country house set in its own grounds in rural Hertfordshire, just south of the village of Welwyn, about 30 miles north of London.

Digswell Park is a cricket ground in Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire. The first recorded match on the ground was in 1866 between The Node and Southgate. In 2000, the ground hosted its only Minor Counties Championship match to date, which was between Hertfordshire and Cambridgeshire. In 2003, the ground hosted 2 MCCA Knockout Trophy matches. Hertfordshire resumed their usage of Digswell Park and have to date played 4 further MCCA Knockout Trophy matches on the ground.The ground has played host to 3 List-A matches, the first of which came in the 2000 NatWest Trophy between Hertfordshire and Cambridgeshire, with the second List-A match coming in the 2001 Cheltenham & Gloucester Trophy between Hertfordshire and the Durham Cricket Board. The third and final List-A match played on the ground was between Hertfordshire and Staffordshire in the 2002 Cheltenham & Gloucester Trophy.In local domestic cricket, Digswell Park is the home ground of Welwyn Garden City Cricket Club who play in the Home Counties Premier Cricket League.

Templewood Primary School is a primary school in Pentley Park, Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire, England. It is one of a number of modernist schools commissioned by the Hertfordshire County Council in the 20th century and is a Grade II* listed building.

Digswell House is a Grade II listed Mansion in Hertfordshire, erected c. 1805–07 by Samuel Wyatt for the Honourable Edward Spencer Cowper, who lived there for some years. It was built in the parish of Digswell from which it takes its name, but was transferred to Welwyn Garden City in 1921. The house is now in the Knightsfield area of Welwyn Garden City. The current house was erected a little eastward of the site on which its predecessor had stood and was built as a commodious country gentleman's home, in an architectural style that can best be described as neoclassical. A portico, with four massive Ionic columns, on the south front is its most impressive external feature.

Monkswood is a small residential area in Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire, England.The area contains around 300 houses and flats and the population is about 500. The Monks Walk School, Shoplands shopping parade and Welwyn Garden City Cricket Club are nearby. The area is served by a number of local bus services to Welwyn Garden City town centre, Welwyn Village, and Stevenage.

Ayot was a railway station serving Ayot St Peter near Welwyn Garden City in Hertfordshire, England. It was on the branch line to Dunstable.

Welwyn Rural District was a rural district in Hertfordshire, England from 1894 to 1974, covering an area in the centre of the county.

The Welwyn Roman Baths are a Roman ruin preserved under the A1(M) just north of modern-day Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire, England. The baths were a small part of the Dicket Mead villa, which was originally built in the 3rd century AD. The village of Welwyn has been described as being the site of a Romano-British settlement, where a Roman road crossed the river Mimram. There was another Roman villa near Welwyn on the Lockleys estate. The full extent of the Dicket Mead villa was never fully excavated prior to the construction of the motorway, but the baths were only one of at least four buildings in total. The complex was probably part of a farm. It has been speculated that it might have been at least in part the equivalent of a hotel, lying as it does near Roman roads. The ruins were uncovered in 1960 by local archaeologist Tony Rook, and the baths were gradually uncovered over the following 10 years by excavation. Shortly after the excavation was completed, the Ministry of Transport announced the route of a new motorway, straight over the top of the excavation.
