Finch Foundry is a 19th-century water-powered forge situated in Sticklepath, a small village at the foot of a steep hill on the road from Exeter to Okehampton, Devon, England. Its original name was Manor Mills, and it was originally used to produce agricultural and mining hand tools. At its peak, the foundry produced around 400 edge-tools a day. The founder was William Finch, who was born in 1779. Several generations of the family ran the foundry, most notably Rebecca Finch, who managed the business at its peak. It remained an active foundry until 1960 when the roof collapsed and has been a National Trust property since 1994. It contains examples of a tilt hammer, drop hammer, and shear hammer all powered by water wheels. The Trust maintains the forge in working order and demonstrations of the tools are given. The Finch Foundry (originally Manor Mills) was operated by John Browning and John Stanbury in 1805. The foundry was formed by William Finch in 1814 in the cloth mill, and the deeds show that at this time William Finch was John Stanbury's tennant. The Finch family operated the foundry continuously from 1814 to the end of the First World War, when the Finch brothers, Albany, James and Thomas, finally formed a partnership and bought the property so that they could expand. This expansion survived the depression of the 1930s until the death of Albany Finch in 1945. After this, the family business became a limited company under the directors Ralph Finch, Charles Bowden and Richard Barron. The company survived until the collapse of the south wall of the foundry in 1960.

South Zeal is a village on Dartmoor, in Devon, United Kingdom. It has a Church of England chapel and a Methodist chapel. The church is situated in the smaller South Tawton village, down the road, for which the parish is named. The differences have their basis in history when South Tawton was a manor and South Zeal was a village in that manor, where the manor hall was situated. The manor house, constructed around a former monastery which itself was built around a Neolithic standing stone called the South Zeal Menhir, is now the Oxenham Arms, an inn and hotel in the centre of the village. Since 1981 it has been the site of the annual Dartmoor Folk Festival founded by local musician Bob Cann.

Cosdon Hill, also called Cosdon Beacon, or Cawsand Beacon, is one of the highest hills on Dartmoor, in Devon, England. It has numerous traces of prehistoric occupation.

Belstone Corner is a village in West Devon in the English county of Devon, part of the civil parish of Sampford Courtenay. The Sampford Courtenay railway station, on the Exeter to Okehampton line, is at Belstone Corner and originally bore this name.

South Tawton is a village, parish and former manor on the north edge of Dartmoor, Devon, England. An electoral ward bearing the same name exists. At the 2011 census the population was 1,683. In front of the church is a "Crosstree", a feature dating from the Tudor period. Inscription: Cross Tree. a tree has stood here since the days of Queen Elizabeth I, the wall and seat were rebuilt to commemorate the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II in 1953

The Nine Maidens, also known as the Seventeen Brothers, is a Bronze Age stone circle located near the village of Belstone on Dartmoor in Devon, England. The stone circle functioned as a burial chamber, although the cairn has since been robbed and the cist, known locally as a kistvaen, destroyed.

Stockley is a hamlet on the eastern outskirts of Okehampton, in Devon, England. It lies just north of the A30.

Sampford Courtenay railway station was a railway station at Belstone Corner, which used to serve the nearby (1.6 miles) village of Sampford Courtenay in Devon. The village lies 3 minutes away by car or around 30 minutes by foot via the B3215. In 2018–19 it was the least used station in Devon and in the South West and the tenth least used station in Great Britain. In 2020-21 it was no longer served, and was the joint least used station in Great Britain with zero passengers.

Halstock Wood is a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) within Dartmoor National Park in Devon, England. It is located in the valley of the East Okement River 1.5km southeast of Okehampton Railway Station. This woodland site is protected because of the upland habitat dominated by sessile oak.

Okehampton Interchange (formerly known as Okehampton Parkway) is a railway station in Okehampton, Devon on the Dartmoor Line. The station is sited off Exeter Road, by the Business Park and close to the junction with the A30, in the Stockley Hamlet area of Okehampton. Its location will allow it to serve 900 new homes that are to be built nearby. Following the Government announcing the reopening of some of the rail lines that were closed in the 1960s and 1970s, the line through the site was proposed for a new intermediate station between Okehampton and Crediton. Devon County Council purchased a site for a new station.

Okehampton Hamlets is a civil parish in the Borough of West Devon and the English county of Devon, it runs independently from the Okehampton Town Council, meetings are held at the Meldon Village Hall. The Parish of Okehampton Hamlets is a rural parish situated in West Devon. It is made up of the hamlets of Brightley, Southcott, Meldon and Stockley. The parish occupies 15.48 square miles and it has an estimated population of 1,765. The hamlet of Southcott, which is predominantly agricultural with a number of small agricultural enterprises, having merged into one larger agricultural unit to secure the fragile agricultural community which has struggled in the past. The hamlet of Brightley lies north of Okehampton. The River Okement runs through the hamlet dividing Abbeyford Woods from the flat farmland. Farming is the main commercial activity due to the decline of forestry activity in Abbeyford Woods. The leat which once powered Brightley Mill can still be seen and just inside the hamlet at Brightley Farm stands a wall, dating back to the 12th century, on the site of an ancient Abbey, hence the name Abbeyford Woods. The hamlet of Meldon, which is rich in industrial archaeological remains, is home to Meldon Dam which across the ravine towards Meldon Viaduct which is now part of the National Cycle Route and a network of paths around Meldon Quarries, now a geological Site of Special Scientific Interest. The Meldon Woods belong to Okehampton Hamlets Parish Council and the Council is working with the Dartmoor National Park Authority to reintroduce traditional coppicing techniques to increase biodiversity and as a result the woodland now supports a variety of wildlife including roe deer, foxes, wrens and tree creepers and much more.
