Edmondsley

Sacriston is a village and civil parish in County Durham, England, situated 3 miles (4.8 km) north of the city of Durham. Although the area has been populated since the Bronze Age, the first recorded settlement dated back to the 13th century to Sacristan's Heugh. According to old maps it was once known as "Segerston Heugh" and is now known to local people as "Segga". This farm and manor house was once the residence of the Sacristan, a monk who held the Office of the Sacristan of the monastery at Durham Cathedral. The Sacristan was responsible for providing everything necessary for the services of the Cathedral: bread and wine, the vestments etc. He was also responsible for repairs to Durham Cathedral. The funds for carrying out the official duties were generated from the estate of Sacristan's Heugh which was finally demolished shortly after World War II.

Waldridge Fell is a Site of Special Scientific Interest located immediately south-west of Chester-le-Street in the northern part of County Durham, England. It is one of the largest areas of lowland heath in County Durham and contains the only lowland valley-mire in the county. The fell is home to a number of plants and insects that are scarce to rare elsewhere in the county.

Fyndoune Community College was a co-educational secondary school located in Sacriston, County Durham, England. Previous names have included Sacriston Secondary Modern School and Fyndoune Comprehensive School. The school closed in April 2021.

Waldridge is a village in County Durham, in England. The population at the 2001 Census was 215. Prior to the 2011 Census the parish boundaries changed and the population shown at this census was 4,215. It is situated to the south west of Chester-le-Street. It is known as either Waldridge Fell or Waldridge Village, the 'Fell' referring to the surrounding area of moorland. The village used to be known as Waldridge Colliery. The current village dates back to the 1890s, the original village having been located on the fell which overlooks the present location. Rainwater runs into the Cong Burn to the north and the South Burn to the south, both of which flow into the River Wear which is a few miles to the east.

Fox & Parrot Wood is a broadleaf woodland in County Durham, England, about 4 miles (6 km) west of Chester-le-Street. It is situated just north of the B6313, near the village of Craghead. The wood forms part of the Great North Forest, which is one of England's community forests, and is adjacent to Twizell Wood, which lies to the north. Fox & Parrot Wood was originally planted in 1998 as part of a joint project between the Woodland Trust and the Forestry Commission. Further planting took place in 2004. It now covers a total area of 13.4 hectares (33.1 acres) and is owned and managed by the Woodland Trust. As with other Woodland Trust woods, it is freely open to the public, with five access points.The forest was named after Dr Fox, a local GP in the 1950s, who was known for his pet parrot.

Nettlesworth is a small village in County Durham, in England. It is situated to the south of Chester-le-Street, near Sacriston. Nettlesworth is adjoined with an old mining village called Kimblesworth. Nettlesworth has a school, Nettlesworth Primary School, and was home to a recently closed pub, the Black Bull.

Holmside is a village in County Durham, in England. It is situated to the north-west of Sacriston. The village has a 5.5 MW wind farm, Holmside Hall Wind Farm, which became operational in May 2004 and consists of two 60 m (200 ft) high wind turbines.

Tan Hills is a village in County Durham, in England. It is situated close to Sacriston, Kimblesworth and Nettlesworth, between Durham and Chester-le-Street.

Roseberry College and Sixth Form was a state-funded secondary school and sixth form in County Durham, England, founded in 1963 and closed in 2014. The final college Principal was Ann Bowen, who is also a geography textbook author for the examination board AQA. The school was housed on a very large single site with capacity for almost 1000 pupils in the Pelton, County Durham / Newfield, Chester-le-Street / Ouston, County Durham areas.
