Ebersberg

Ebersberg station is a railway station in the municipality of Ebersberg, located in the Ebersberg district in Upper Bavaria, Germany. The station is called "Ebersberg (Oberbay) Bf" for regional trains except S-train. The name within the S-train system is "Ebersberg".

There is also the S-Bahn station of Grafing Stadt ("Grafing town") in central Grafing. The station has six platform tracks and is classified by Deutsche Bahn as a category 3 station. It is served daily by about 160 trains, 110 of which are S-Bahn trains. Grafing station is on the Munich–Rosenheim railway and is the beginning of the Grafing–Wasserburg railway to Wasserburg.

The city of Lynden, Washington is named after it, as is Linden, Alabama. Hohenlinden is also the subject of an eponymous poem by Thomas Campbell.

Kirchseeon is a market town in the Upper Bavarian district of Ebersberg and lies 15 km east of Munich city limits. The nearest communities are Grafing and Ebersberg. The Bavarian capital, Munich, can be reached by S-Bahn (line S4), which runs over the Munich–Salzburg line. Rosenheim and Wasserburg am Inn are each about 25 km away.

The Battle of Hohenlinden was fought on 3 December 1800 during the French Revolutionary Wars. A French army under Jean Victor Marie Moreau won a decisive victory over an Austrian and Bavarian force led by 18-year-old Archduke John of Austria. The allies were forced into a disastrous retreat that compelled them to request an armistice, effectively ending the War of the Second Coalition. Hohenlinden is 33 km east of Munich in modern Germany. General of Division Moreau's 56,000-strong army engaged some 64,000 Austrians and Bavarians. The Austrians, believing they were pursuing a beaten enemy, moved through heavily wooded terrain in four disconnected columns. Moreau ambushed the Austrians as they emerged from the Ebersberg forest while launching Antoine Richepanse's division in a surprise envelopment of the Austrian left flank. Displaying superb individual initiative, Moreau's generals managed to encircle and smash the largest Austrian column. This crushing victory, coupled with the narrow French victory at the Battle of Marengo on 14 June 1800, ended the War of the Second Coalition. In February 1801, the Austrians signed the Treaty of Lunéville, accepting French control up to the Rhine and the French puppet republics in Italy and the Netherlands. The subsequent Treaty of Amiens between France and Britain began the longest break in the wars of the Napoleonic period.

Aßling (spelled with the German ß) is a municipality in the district of Ebersberg, Upper Bavaria, Germany. It is, along with the communities of Emmering and Frauenneuharting, a member of the administrative community (Verwaltungsgemeinschaft) of the same name.

The Alpine Foreland, less commonly called the Bavarian Foreland, Bavarian Plateau or Bavarian Alpine Foreland (German: Bayerisches Alpenvorland), refers to a triangular region of plateau and rolling foothills in Southern Germany, stretching from Lake Constance in the west to beyond Linz on the Danube in the east, with the Bavarian Alps forming its south boundary and the Danube its northern extent.
