Ash is a village in Devon, England and is situated approximately 2.5 miles (4 km) south-west of Dartmouth.

Slapton is a village and civil parish in the South Hams district of Devon, England. It is located near the A379 road between Kingsbridge and Dartmouth, and lies within the South Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). The nearby beach is Slapton Sands; despite its name, it is not a sandy beach but a shingle one. In 1901 the population of the civil parish was 527, decreasing to 473 in 2001, and decreasing further to 434 at the 2011 census. The parish is surrounded clockwise from the north by the parishes of Blackawton, Strete, Stokenham and East Allington.

Woodbury is an Iron Age hillfort situated in the parish of Stoke Fleming, close to Dartmouth in Devon, England. The fort is situated on a promontory on the southern side of Norton Down at approximately 145 metres (476 ft) above sea level.

Abbotsleigh is a hamlet in the county of Devon, England. Abbotsleigh is in the civil parish of Blackawton, within the district council of South Hams in Devon. It is about 5 miles (8.0 km) south-west of Dartmouth.

Slapton Ley is a lake on the south coast of Devon, England, separated from Start Bay by a shingle beach, known as Slapton Sands. Slapton Ley is the largest natural freshwater lake in south-west England being 1.5 miles (2.4 km) long and has two sections; the Lower Ley and the Higher Ley. The ley is fed by streams and a small river, The Gara, that flows into the Higher Ley. The site is a National Nature Reserve, a Site of Special Scientific Interest and a Geological Conservation Review site. The nature reserve covers over 200 hectares (490 acres).The A379 between the Ley and the sea runs along the shingle ridge and was rebuilt after damage by coastal erosion in the early 2000s.

Exercise Tiger, or Operation Tiger, was one of a series of large-scale rehearsals for the D-Day invasion of Normandy, which took place in April 1944 on Slapton Sands in Devon. Coordination and communication problems resulted in friendly fire injuries during the exercise, and an Allied convoy positioning itself for the landing was attacked by E-boats of Nazi Germany's Kriegsmarine, resulting in the deaths of at least 749 American servicemen.Because of the impending invasion of Normandy, the incident was under the strictest secrecy at the time and was only minimally reported afterwards.

Blackawton is a village and civil parish in the South Hams district of Devon, England. According to the 2001 census, it had a population of 647. Blackawton is a major part of the West Dart electoral ward. The ward's population at the 2011 census was 1,946. The village is about six miles west of Dartmouth. The church is 15th-century, with a Norman baptismal font and a well-preserved rood screen. Blackawton has hosted an annual worm charming competition since 1980. There is one pub in Blackawton, The George Inn. A second pub, The Normandy Arms, has since closed.The village runs its own village shop and post office, all run by volunteers. In 2010 a study of bumblebee behaviour by pupils from Blackawton Primary School was accepted for publication in the Royal Society's Biology Letters journal.

Slapton Castle is an Iron Age hill fort situated close to Slapton in Devon, England. The fort is on a promontory on the eastern side of a hilltop at approximately 65 metres (213 ft) above sea level, overlooking Slapton Ley.

Stoke Fleming is a village and civil parish in the South Hams district of Devon, England. It lies on the A379 road about one and a half miles south of the town of Dartmouth, at the north end of Start Bay and within the South Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. In 2001 the parish had a population of 1,012, compared to 708 in 1901, reducing again to 803 at the 2011 census The parish is a major part of the Skerries electoral ward. The ward's total population at the same census was 1,927. Stoke Fleming has a pub called The Green Dragon, a primary school, library and a football club.
