It lies approximately 13 kilometres (8 mi) north-west of Jemielno, 12 km (7 mi) south-west of Góra, and 69 km (43 mi) north-west of the regional capital Wrocław.

Chobienia is the site of a Renaissance castle, where Frederick II of Prussia stayed after the Battle of Kunersdorf in 1759.
