Middlesex, Vermont

Tangletown (also Tangle Town) is an Unincorporated community in Middlesex in Washington County, Vermont, United States, in the central part of the state. The area is loosely defined, located off Bolduc Road to the east, Alice Dobey Road and Dolan Road along the north, and Molly Supple Hill Road on the west. The place name originates from a time in the 19th century when the area was undeveloped and hunters would become confused by the tight vegetation and repeated similar topography of rock outcrops, hills, and similar vegetation, causing them to become "tangled up" (lost) in the landscape. The area, though still sparsely settled, has a named east-to-west road called Tangle Town Road.

Washington County is a county located in the U.S. state of Vermont. Named after George Washington, its shire town (county seat) is the city of Montpelier (the least populous state capital in the United States) and the most populous municipality is the city of Barre. As of the 2020 census, the population was 59,807, making it the third-most populous county in Vermont, but the third-least populous capital county in the United States after Hughes County, South Dakota and Franklin County, Kentucky. Washington County comprises the Barre, Vermont micropolitan statistical area. In 2010, the center of population of Vermont was located in Washington County, in the town of Warren.

The Middlesex–Winooski River Bridge is a steel girder bridge carrying U.S. Route 2 (US 2) across the Winooski River in a rural area on the town line between Moretown and Middlesex, Vermont. The two-span bridge was built in 2010, replacing a 1928 three-span Pratt through truss, which was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1991.

Wrightsville Reservoir is a reservoir located in Washington County, Vermont, United States, as a result of the construction of the Wrightsville Dam built from 1933 to 1935 after the Great Flood of 1927. It is located at the intersection of the municipal borders of three towns, Montpelier, Middlesex, and East Montpelier. It is a popular recreational spot in the summer, for swimming, boating, and fishing in the Montpelier area. During the July 2023 Northeastern United States floods, floodwaters reached the second highest recorded Winooski River level and threatened to spill the dam, but receded on the third day.

Montpelier station, also known as Montpelier–Berlin station and Montpelier Junction, is a railroad station in Berlin, Vermont, United States. It is served by Amtrak's Vermonter line and provides service to the nearby cities of Montpelier and Barre.A railroad station has stood at this site since the mid-19th century. Originally a freight stop for wood, the Vermont Central Railroad (VCR) established a junction station for passengers known as Montpelier Junction in 1849. That year, VCR built a branch line to downtown Montpelier, providing service to Vermont's capital. The current station was built in 1934 by the Central Vermont Railway, VCR's successor. It is likely the third station building on the site. Regular service on the Montpelier branch was discontinued in 1938 and replaced with a bus line. Service to Montpelier Junction ended altogether in 1966. In 1972, Amtrak restored service to the station on the Montrealer line, which was later replaced by the Vermonter when service to Montreal ended.

Green Mount Cemetery is a burial ground in Montpelier, Vermont. Located at 250 State Street, the 35-acre facility was established in 1854. It is operated by the City of Montpelier, and managed by the city's part time cemetery commission and a small full-time staff.

Hubbard Park is a 194-acre park (79 ha) located to the north of the Vermont State House in Montpelier, Vermont. The park features approximately 7 miles of hiking and skiing trails, a soccer and ball field, picnic areas, a sledding hill, seven fireplaces, two sheltered pavilions, and a historic 54-foot high observation tower that was built between 1915-1930. The tower was listed on the Vermont State Historic Register on March 15, 1990, and along with its original parcel area, was added to the National Register of Historic Places as part of a Boundary Increase of the Montpelier Historic District (listed as property #562) on February 20, 2018.

Montpelier High School (MHS) is a public secondary school, comprising grades 9–12, located in Montpelier, Vermont. MHS serves the Montpelier Roxbury Public Schools District. Schools in the district also include Union Elementary School, Roxbury Village School, and Main Street Middle School. Montpelier is located near the center of Vermont in Washington County. The school's sports teams are called the Solons and the school's colors are green and white. Enrollment in 2006 was 420; in 2012 it was 317.

Montpelier Roxbury Public Schools is a K-12 school district in Montpelier, Vermont, USA which serves as the governing body of Union Elementary School, Roxbury Village School, Main Street Middle School, and Montpelier High School. Its business office is located in Montpelier High School. Its serves students in some towns such as Calais, Adamant, Berlin, and East Montpelier, offering Main Street Middle School and Montpelier High School as an alternative to U-32 Junior/Senior High School.

The Washington-7 Representative District is a one-member state Representative district in the U.S. state of Vermont. It is one of the 108 one or two member districts into which the state was divided by the redistricting and reapportionment plan developed by the Vermont General Assembly following the 2000 U.S. Census. The plan applies to legislatures elected in 2002, 2004, 2006, 2008, and 2010. A new plan will be developed in 2012 following the 2010 U.S. Census. The Washington-7 District includes all of the Washington County towns of East Montpelier and Middlesex. As of the 2000 census, the state as a whole had a population of 608,827. As there are a total of 150 representatives, there were 4,059 residents per representative (or 8,118 residents per two representatives). The one member Washington-7 District had a population of 4,307 in that same census, 6.11% above the state average.

Montpelier Recreation Field is a baseball venue located in Montpelier, Vermont, United States and is the home field of the Vermont Mountaineers of the New England Collegiate Baseball League. The field has served as home of the Mountaineers since 2003.

The Vermont Senate is the upper house of the Vermont General Assembly, the state legislature of the U.S. state of Vermont. The senate consists of 30 members elected from multi-member districts. Each senator represents at least 20,300 citizens. Senators are elected to two-year terms and there is no limit to the number of terms that a senator may serve. As in other upper houses of state and territorial legislatures and the U.S. Senate, the state senate of Vermont has special functions, such as confirming or rejecting gubernatorial appointments to executive departments, the state cabinet, commissions, and boards, as well as electing members to the Vermont Supreme Court. The Vermont Senate meets at the Vermont State House in the state capital of Montpelier.
