Andries DuBois House

The Dwaar Kill is a 17-mile-long (27 km) tributary of the Wallkill River that drains a 28-square-mile (73 km2) area of Orange and Ulster counties in the U.S. state of New York. It is the Wallkill's second-longest tributary after the Shawangunk Kill, whose course it parallels somewhat to the east. Like the Wallkill and the Shawangunk, which also has a tributary named the Dwaar Kill, it flows in a northeastern direction toward the Hudson River via Rondout Creek. Unlike them it flows entirely through rural areas.

The J. B. Crowell and Son Brick Mould Mill Complex is located on Lippencott Road near the hamlet of Wallkill, New York, United States, part of the Town of Shawangunk in Ulster County. It was established in 1870 by James Burns Crowell, after he changed his mind about a teaching career. The mill originally made not only brick moulds but wooden agricultural implements such as wheelbarrows and oxbows, as well as children's sleds.Two years after it began operations, many of the current structures were erected. The complex was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1983. It has unfortunately closed its operations as of 2020.

Wallkill Senior High School, located in Wallkill, New York, educates students in grades 9 through 12 in the Wallkill Central School District. It is in a residential neighborhood, on Robinson Drive in the northern end of the hamlet, a few blocks west of NY 208. The Shawangunk Ridge can be viewed from the rear. In the 2005–06 school year, New York's Education Department classified Wallkill as a "School in Need of Improvement" under the federal No Child Left Behind Act for failing to meet participation quotas on state standardized tests in math.The school's football team almost won the state championship in 2004. It was leading Binghamton-area Maine-Endwell 36-32 with 19 seconds left in the championship game at Syracuse University's Carrier Dome when an opposing player scored on an 80-yard touchdown run.The school opened in September 1968, making the former high school the Wallkill Middle School, recently rededicated as the John G. Borden Middle School. The building was designed by architects Clark & Warren of the AIA who also designed several other schools and churches in the area. The building has had several additions and modifications over the years, with several in 1992. An auditorium was built, two classrooms in the courtyard area as well as an expansion to the library. An addition was also built to the north side of the building which consisted of eight additional classrooms. The front entrance was also made handicapped accessible. In 2002, four additional classrooms were added adjacent to the earlier addition. At this time the cafeteria was renovated and expanded enclosing the former walls of windows and adding an outdoor entrance to one side. Windows were also cut in above the secondary front entrance of the school near the flagpole at this time. Seven years later, the school was refitted with new lockers, energy efficient windows and new sidewalks. The school remains the newest and largest in the district.

Wallkill is a hamlet (and census-designated place), generally identified as coterminous with ZIP code 12589, telephone exchange 895 in the 845 area code and most of the Wallkill Central School District located mostly in the eastern half of the town of Shawangunk, Ulster County, New York, United States, but partly spilling over into adjacent regions of the Orange County towns of Newburgh and Montgomery. The population was 2,166 at the 2020 census.The Wallkill and Shawangunk correctional facilities are located in Wallkill. The hamlet's attractions include the Walden–Wallkill Rail Trail, the original Borden Farm (namesake for the area's middle school, John G. Borden Middle School), the Wallkill River, the Magnanini Winery, and for its proximity to the Shawangunk Mountains.

Area codes 845 and 329 are telephone area codes in the North American Numbering Plan (NANP) for the U.S. state of New York. The numbering plan area comprises the mid- and lower Hudson Valley, specifically Orange, Putnam, Rockland, and Ulster counties, and parts of Columbia, Delaware, Dutchess, Greene, and Sullivan counties. Area code 845 was created on June 5, 2000, by an area code split from most of the territory of area code 914, which was retained by Westchester County. Prior to October 2021, area code 845 had telephone numbers assigned for the central office code 988. In 2020, 988 was designated nationwide as a dialing code for the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline, which created a conflict for exchanges that permit seven-digit dialing. This area code was therefore scheduled to transition to ten-digit dialing by October 24, 2021.On May 11, 2022, the North American Numbering Plan Administrator (NANPA) authorized the new area code 329 for an overlay of the 845 area, with an effective in-service date of March 24, 2023.

The Wallkill Correctional Facility is a medium security prison in New York state in the United States. The prison is located just north of the hamlet of Wallkill, in the Town of Shawangunk.

The Dubois-Phelps House is a farmhouse located off Wallkill Road outside of the village of Walden in the Town of Montgomery, New York, United States. It is in the center of Riverside Farm, close to the Wallkill River. The original farmhouse was built sometime in the 18th century. In 1851, Nathaniel DuBois bought it and renovated it extensively in the Greek Revival style, creating the building as it exists today. The Phelps family, its current occupant, bought the property from his descendants in 1922.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1997.

The Shawangunk Grasslands National Wildlife Refuge is a wildlife refuge located in Ulster County, New York, United States. Formerly the Galeville Military Airport, it was decommissioned in 1994 and turned over to the United States Fish and Wildlife Service in 1999. It serves as a waypoint for grassland-dependent migratory birds.

Tin Brook is a 9-mile-long (14 km) tributary of the Wallkill River almost entirely located in the town of Montgomery in Orange County, New York, United States, where it drains 19.2 square miles (50 km2). Near its mouth it flows through the village of Walden. It is one of the few named tributaries of the Wallkill that drain into it from the lowlands between it and the Hudson River to the east, rather than the Shawangunk Ridge to the west. Several possible origins have been proposed for the name, which appeared on local maps as early as 1774. The most likely points to an early landowner along the midlands of the stream variously named John Tinne, Thinne or even John Tinbrook. Another theory suggests that it was named by the Dutch settlers who were the first European inhabitants of the Hudson Valley and that it comes from the words meaning "thin breeches" in that language. Supposedly one of them had reconnoitered south from New Paltz and found the soils around the brook to be thin, or insufficiently deep for the kind of farming they preferred.

Shawangunk Correctional Facility is a maximum security prison for males located in the Town of Shawangunk, Ulster County, New York in the United States. The facility lies just outside the Ulster County hamlet of Wallkill, whose post office serves it.

The Walden–Wallkill Rail Trail, also known as the Jesse McHugh Rail Trail, is a 3.22-mile (5.18 km) rail trail between the village of Walden, New York and the neighboring hamlet of Wallkill. The two communities are located in Orange and Ulster counties, respectively, in upstate New York. The trail, like the Wallkill Valley Rail Trail to the north, is part of the former Wallkill Valley Railroad's rail corridor. The land was purchased by the towns of Montgomery and Shawangunk in 1985 and converted to a public trail. The portion of the trail in Shawangunk was formally opened in 1993 and named after former town supervisor Jesse McHugh. Plans to pave the trail between Walden and Wallkill were discussed since 2001, and the route was finally paved between 2008 and 2009. The trail includes an unofficial, unimproved section to the north of Wallkill, and is bounded by NY 52 and NY 208.

The Bodine Farmhouse is located on Wallkill Road just outside the village of Walden in the Town of Montgomery, Orange County, New York, United States. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2006.
