Quarterbridge Crossing

Quarterbridge (The Quarters or Quarter Dub: quarterlands of Ballabrooie and Ballaquayle) is situated soon after the 1 mile-marker measured from the TT Grandstand, part of the Snaefell Mountain Course used for the Isle of Man TT races, at the junction of the primary A1 Douglas to Peel road, A2 Douglas to Ramsey road and the A5 Douglas to Port Erin road which forms the boundary between the parishes of Braddan and Onchan in the Isle of Man.

The National Sports Centre (also known as NSC) in Douglas Isle of Man is a large multi-sports centre and athletics stadium. The NSC is owned by the Department of Education, Sport and Culture of the Isle of Man Government and operated by the Manx Sport & Recreation.

St Marys A.F.C. is a football club from Douglas on the Isle of Man. It competes in the Isle of Man Football League wearing a yellow and green kit. It plays its home games at The Bowl in Douglas.

The King George V Bowl (commonly known as The Bowl) is a multi-use stadium in Douglas, Isle of Man, and the home of F.C. Isle of Man. With a capacity of 3,350, a third of which are under cover, and a viewing platform for disabled users, it is the largest stadium on the Island. The Bowl also serves as the home of the Isle of Man Football Association, Isle of Man official football team and Ellan Vannin football team. The highest attendance (3,327 spectators) was registered in the F.A. Inter League Cup Final on 28.04.12 against Jersey. Nicknamed "The Bernabowl" by local supporters in reference to the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium, The Bowl has been the home ground of F.C. Isle of Man since July 2020, the club shares the ground with nine local clubs for their winter training schedule and St Marys A.F.C. have taken up permanent residence, training and playing their league matches at the stadium. The Bowl was redeveloped at a cost of around £3.3 million, with then-Minister of Infrastructure David Cretney saying: "This is an exceptional facility at the heart of our Island of Sport. The previous, out of date Bowl has been transformed into a flagship sporting venue that will enable upcoming sports men and women to challenge the best visiting and local players." The pitch is a 65 mm (2.6 in) rubber infill 3G carpet system, the same as currently used at Manchester United's Trafford Training Centre. It is approved by the RFU and FIFA for rugby and football. There are also four 500 lux floodlights on 18-metre (59 ft) columns in each corner of the stadium. The Bowl is owned by Douglas Borough Council.

The River Dhoo (Manx: Awin Doo) is a river on the Isle of Man. The river rises in Marown and flows east towards Douglas through the central valley of the island, passing Crosby and Union Mills before meeting with the River Glass on the outskirts of Douglas where it flows out to sea through Douglas Harbour. The Dhoo (meaning black or dark in Manx) and the Glass (meaning clear or green) converge to form the River Douglas. It has a length of approx. 6.5 mi (10.5 km). More recent research suggests that the name is one of the oldest place-names in the island and comes from the early Celtic term 'duboglassio’ meaning 'black/dark stream'. This is a common name throughout the British Isles and is Dulas in Wales and Dawlish in England.

The River Glass is a river on the Isle of Man. The river begins in the area of Injebreck about 10km north of Douglas, the Island's capital. Flowing down through the West Baldwin Valley, the river joins the River Dhoo to form the River Douglas on the outskirts of Douglas before flowing out to sea. The river has a length of approximately 8.5km. The name Glass originates from the word for green in Manx. The western edge of the parish of Onchan is formed by the path of the Glass.

Quarterbridge Road (Manx: The Quarters or Quarter Dub – quarterlands of Ballabrooie and Ballaquayle) is a section of roadway notable for its inclusion in the Isle of Man TT races. It is adjacent to the 1st Milestone road-side marker measured from the startline at TT Grandstand used for the Snaefell Mountain Course on the primary A2 Ramsey to Douglas road in the town of Douglas, Isle of Man. The Quarterbridge Road runs from the bottom of Bray Hill to the major road junction at the Quarterbridge, where it meets the primary A1 Douglas to Peel road and the A5 Douglas to Port Erin road. The A2 Quarterbridge Road also has minor side-road junctions in the residential outskirts of Douglas town. The start of Quarterbridge Road is the site of the area which famously became known as Ago's Leap, after motorsport photographer, the late B.R. 'Nick' Nicholls, took a photograph of motorcycle racer Giacomo Agostini wheelying during the 1970 TT Senior race riding his MV Agusta.

Braddan Bridge (Irish: Naomh Breandán, Saint Brendan of Clonfert, the Navigator or the Voyager) is a bridge over the river Dhoo on the Douglas to Peel road, from which a halt on the Isle of Man Railway's first line to Peel took its name. It is a landmark on the Isle of Man TT road-race course, situated in the countryside close to the outskirts of Douglas town where motorcycles slow to negotiate a left-right 'S' bend over the river. A traditional viewing spot with seating, in common with other vantage points around the local Douglas area, it is within walking distance of the Ferry Terminal where sea ferries from England, Scotland and Ireland traditionally disembarked day-trip or longer-stay passengers.

Ballakermeen High School is a coeducational comprehensive secondary school based on a single site in Douglas, on the Isle of Man. It is the second largest Isle of Man Government building after Noble's Hospital in Strang. On the start of the 2022/2023 academic year, a new head teacher was appointed, Mr Graeme Corrin, replacing Mrs Adrienne Burnnet, who was Head Teacher for 21 years.

The Isle of Man International Business School (Manx: Scoill Dellal Eddyrashoonagh Vannin) is an institution of higher education on the Isle of Man. The Business School is located in the Nunnery mansion estate, close to the island's capital Douglas. It provides various academic degrees and professional qualifications in many different areas of business and finance, to students from all around the world. The building changed its use in 2012. From a standalone institution, it has become a campus of the Isle of Man College dedicated to higher education. In 2016, the college changed its name to University College Isle of Man (UCM).

Douglas South is a House of Keys constituency in Douglas, Isle of Man. Although the constituency is named Douglas South, its current (2020) boundaries place it in the west rather than the south of Douglas. Like all the Keys constituencies, the constituency returns two members to the House of Keys. Following a general election in October 2021, the incumbents are Mrs Claire Christian and Sarah Maltby.

The former Priory of Douglas was a Cistercian monastery of nuns on the Isle of Man, apparently founded in the reign of Rǫgnvaldr Guðrøðarson, King of the Isles.
