Northcrest was a city in north central McLennan County, Texas (USA). The city's name came from its location (six miles) north of Waco and its elevation, which is the highest in the Waco area. Northcrest was incorporated as a city in February 1958 with a mayor–council form of government. The city's population was 625 in 1960. By 1970, that figure had risen to 1,669 as it developed into a primarily residential community with an economy heavily dependent on nearby cities. In the late 1980s, Northcrest was home to approximately 2,200 residents. That number fell to 1,725 by 1990. Northcrest merged with the neighboring city of Lacy Lakeview in 1998.

La Vega High School is a public high school located in the city of Bellmead, Texas, United States and classified as a 4A school by the University Interscholastic League (UIL). It is a part of the La Vega Independent School District located in central McLennan County and also includes students from Waco. When the school opened, only white students were allowed to attend. In 1970, federally mandated integration caused African-American students from Carver High School to be rezoned to La Vega. In 2015, the school was rated "Met Standard" by the Texas Education Agency.

Texas State Technical College of Waco is a public technical college in Waco, Texas. It was founded in 1965 as the James Connally Technical Institute of Texas A&M University.Texas State Technical College is the only state-supported technical college system in Texas, and is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. Its campus offers student housing, cafeteria, activities center, and a gymnasium.

Bellmead is a city in McLennan County, Texas, United States. The population was 10,494 at the 2020 census. It is part of the Waco Metropolitan Statistical Area. The word Bellmead means "Beautiful Autumn Valley" and was the name given to the region by its native inhabitants.

Before 1968, it was known as James Connally Air Force Base. The airport is owned by Texas State Technical College. It is included in the National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems for 2021–2025, which categorized it as a general aviation facility.The facility is currently used as an industrial airpark operated by Texas State Technical College System for their aviation programs, and is noted for being the largest airport in the United States owned by an educational institution.

George Washington Carver High School was a public secondary school in the La Vega Independent School District in Waco, Texas. It served as the high school for black students from 1956 until the public schools were integrated in 1970.

Elm Mott is an unincorporated community in McLennan County, Texas, United States. It is located near the intersection of Interstate 35 and Farm to Market Road 308, eight miles north of Waco. Elm Mott is part of the Waco Metropolitan Statistical Area.

The Bosque River ( BOS-kee) is a 115-mile (185.1 km) long river in Central Texas fed by four primary branches. The longest branch, the North Bosque, forms near Stephenville, and flows toward Waco through Hamilton, Bosque and McLennan counties. It is subsequently joined by the East Bosque in Bosque County and the Middle and South Bosque Rivers near Waco. The river terminates into the Brazos River, and is dammed nearby to form Lake Waco. The Middle Bosque River adjoins the Prairie Chapel Ranch home of President George W. Bush northwest of Crawford, Texas.

Cameron Park is a 416-acre (168 ha) urban park located in Waco, Texas. The park was dedicated on May 27, 1910, and named in memory of Waco philanthropist and lumber baron William Cameron. The park also contains Waco's 52-acre (21 ha) zoo, the Cameron Park Zoo.
