It is in the southern part of the county, bordered to the west by San Benito, to the northeast by Brownsville, to the east by Rice Tracts, to the south by Encantada-Ranchito-El Calaboz, and to the southwest by La Paloma. It is 5 miles (8 km) south of the center of San Benito and 18 miles (29 km) northwest of downtown Brownsville. The Resaca del Rancho Viejo, a southeast-flowing tributary of the Rio Grande, flows through the northern part of the community.

It is in the southern part of the county, bordered to the north and northeast by Brownsville, to the southeast, south, and southwest by Encantada-Ranchito-El Calaboz, and to the northwest by Palmer. It is 6 miles (10 km) south of San Benito and 15 miles (24 km) northwest of downtown Brownsville. The Resaca del Rancho Viejo, a southeastward-flowing tributary of the Rio Grande, winds through the northern half of the community.

The Free Trade International Bridge is an international bridge which crosses the Rio Grande connecting the United States-Mexico border cities of Los Indios, Texas and Matamoros, Tamaulipas. The bridge is also known as "Los Indios-Lucio Blanco Bridge", "Puente Lucio Blanco-Los Indios", "Puente Internacional Libre Comercio" and "Los Indios Free Trade Bridge".

The Los Indios Port of Entry opened in 1992 with the completion of the Free Trade International Bridge in 1992. The crossing handles both passenger vehicles and commercial trucks. Because of the length of the bridge and the rural location, there are very few pedestrians. The Bridge is owned jointly by Cameron County and the cities of Harlingen and San Benito. For many years, Los Indios was the sole port of entry for transmigrantes transporting goods from the United States to Latin America.
