Franklin, Tennessee

Fort Granger was a Union fort built in 1862 in Franklin, Tennessee, south of Nashville, after their forces occupied the state during the American Civil War. One of several fortifications constructed in the Franklin Battlefield, the fort was used by Union troops to defend their positions in Middle Tennessee against Confederate attackers. The Second Battle of Franklin in 1864, part of the Franklin-Nashville Campaign in the Western Theater, was the most notable engagement of this area during the Civil War. Today, Fort Granger's remaining earthworks are preserved within a city park that is located near the center of Franklin. Fort Granger is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The site is accessible to the public via a trail from Pinkerton Park. Its grounds include a boardwalk offering a view of the Harpeth River and extending through part of the fort's site.

The Apheus Truett House is a frame house located at 228 Franklin Road in Franklin, Tennessee, that was listed on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) in 1988. Built in 1846, it is a notable example of a two-story vernacular I-house structure in Williamson County (along with the William King House, the Old Town (aka Thomas Brown House), the Claiborne Kinnard House, the Beverly Toon House, and the Stokely Davis House).: 42  It includes Central passage plan architecture. The NRHP listing is for an area of 5.2 acres (2.1 ha), with one contributing building and two non-contributing structures.It is one of about thirty significant brick and frame residences surviving in Williamson County that were built during 1830 to 1860. It faces on the Franklin and Columbia Pike that runs south from Brentwood to Franklin to Columbia.

Pilgrimage Music & Cultural Festival is an annual arts festival in Franklin, Tennessee. Since 2015 the two-day festival takes place annually in September.

Harlinsdale Farm is a 198-acre (80 ha) historic district in Franklin, Tennessee that was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2006. It dates from c.1900 and had other significant dates in 1935 and 1945.Its main horse stable, the centerpiece of the property, was completed in 1935. Instead of traditional placement to the rear of the main house on the property, this stable is prominent in the property, set at the end of the drive in from the road, with its long axis parallel to the road. Several buildings on the property were modified in 1945.It includes Colonial Revival styling for four laborers' houses on the property. When listed, the district included 14 contributing buildings, four contributing structures, and one contributing site, as well as four non-contributing buildings and one non-contributing site.The NRHP eligibility of the property (and 342 other farm properties in Tennessee) was covered in a 1974 study of "Historic Family Farms in Middle Tennessee".It was opened as a park of the City of Franklin, Tennessee in 2007. It was formerly used as a breeding farm for Tennessee Walking Horses.

Cox House is a building in Franklin, Tennessee that was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980. It is also known as the Harpeth Academy building.It was built in 1891 for Congressman Nicholas Nichol Cox. It was extended in 1972 and again in 1975. It was designed by architects Woods & Crabb. It includes Late Victorian architecture. The listing was for an area of 5.8 acres (2.3 ha) with just one contributing building.It was purchased in 1969 by the Harpeth Academy, a private elementary school that itself is a historic institution, to be used as an administration building. It is now part of Battle Ground Academy.

The Rainey House is a one-and-a-half-story brick home in Franklin, Tennessee that dates from 1839. It was built in the original 15 blocks of the city of Franklin and was standing during the American Civil War Battle of Franklin. Like many structures standing at the time, it was used as a field hospital during and after the battle. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1970. The house is listed as being one of the least-altered historic properties in Franklin. It was originally built by Robert Rainey who operated a store across the street from the City of Franklin Railroad Depot. While the depot is no longer in service, the train line across the street from the house is still active. It has also been known as The Bob Rainey House.A bridge across the Harpeth River located on the other side of the railroad tracks from the house leads to Pinkerton Park where there is a short hike up to Fort Granger, a Union Fort used during the Civil War. When listed the property included two contributing buildings on an area of 9.9 acres (4.0 ha).The house has Greek Revival details.

Pinkerton Park is a 34-acre municipal park located in Franklin, Tennessee, United States at 405 Murfreesboro Road, east of the Harpeth River, near downtown Franklin. The park includes a mile-long paved pedestrian track, with exercise equipment located at various points on the trail. A total of fourteen picnic tables are available, as well as grills, located in various parts of the park. Pinkerton Park has restrooms, as well as a pedestrian bridge across the Harpeth River. Two playgrounds are available for children; one of them, Tinkerbell playground, is self-contained. Pinkerton Park is the most used park in the Franklin Park system. Fort Granger is located to the north of the park, and may be reached by a trail.In 2018, the Park debuted "Storybook Trail," a series of 20 panels along the park's walking trail, an open-air book about forest animals for parents to read aloud to children. The story will be changed annually.

The Maney-Sidway House, also known as Jasmine Grove and as Myles Manor, is a building in Franklin, Tennessee originally built c.1836, that was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988. The building served as a hospital for Union wounded following the Battle of Franklin.It was extensively remodelled in 1916 in Neo-Classical style, including adding an elliptical, two-story portico to the main facade of the building. For the 1916 renovations of the property, it is included in a survey of historic resources of Williamson County as one of only a few notable residential structures in the county that were built during 1900–1935. Henry H. Mayberry House was another, as was a remodelling of the Randal McGavock House, both reflecting Neo-Classical style.The National Register listing includes 11.9 acres (4.8 ha) with two contributing buildings, one contributing structure, and two non-contributing structures.

The Henry H. Mayberry House, also known as "Riverview", is a private home in Franklin, Tennessee located on Franklin Pike (US 31) just north of the Harpeth River Bridge. Built in 1902 in Neo-Classical or Classical Revival architecture, it is one of the notable residences of the 1900-1935 period in Williamson County. At the time it was built it had the most technologically advanced utilities in the county, including electric lights and its own water works. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988. When listed, the property included an area of 26 acres (11 ha).

The Masonic Hall of Hiram Masonic Lodge No. 7 is a historic Gothic revival building on South 2nd Avenue in Franklin, Tennessee. Constructed in 1823, it is the oldest public building in Franklin. It is nationally significant as the site of negotiations leading to the Treaty of Franklin, the first Indian removal treaty agreed after passage of the 1830 Indian Removal Act. It was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1973. It continues to serve the local Masonic lodge.

The Andrew C. Vaughn House, also known as the McCall House, is a circa 1873 Italianate style house in Franklin, Tennessee. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988. When listed the property included two contributing buildings on 5 acres (2.0 ha).According to a 1988 study of Williamson County historical resources, it is one of a handful of notable, historic Italianate style residences in the county, others being the James Wilhoite House, the John Hunter House, the Owen-Cox House, the Y.M. Rizer House (ca. 1875, a combination of Italianate and Second Empire design), the Henry Pointer House, the Jordan-Williams House, and the Thomas Critz House.

Wyatt Hall is a property in Franklin, Tennessee that was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980. It was built or has other significance in c.1805 and 1847. It includes Federal architecture. When listed the property included one contributing building and two non-contributing buildings on an area of 8.4 acres (3.4 ha).The building is one of the oldest houses in Middle Tennessee, and its walls were plastered with a mix of hogs' hair, lime, and sand. A smokehouse and a storage shed stand on the property, both "original" log structures.
