The Protestant church of Burgum or Cross Church or Saint Martin's church is a religious building in Burgum, Netherlands, one of the medieval churches in Friesland. The tuffstone edifice was built c. 1100 and was enlarged about a century later. It was again enlarged about a century after that and possesses a monumental Pipe organ that was built from 1783 to 1788 by L. van Dam & Zn. from Leeuwarden.The church is located on the Nieuwstad 5 and was once a Roman Catholic church dedicated to Saint Martin but became a Protestant church after the protestant reformation. It is listed as a Rijksmonument, number 35634 and is rated with a very high historical value.

Tytsjerksteradiel () is a municipality in the province of Friesland in the Netherlands. It is named after the town of Tytsjerk, whose name is derived from a person named Tiete. Tiete was a daughter of Tryn, after whom the region (Trynwâlden) is named. The other villages in Trynwâlden are also named after Tryn's children: Oentsjerk (Oene), Gytsjerk (Giete), Readtsjerk (Reade), Aldtsjerk (Âlde), Ryptsjerk (Rype). A statue of Tryn and her children is placed in Oentsjerk next to the mainroad (Rengerswei). Tsjerk is the West Frisian word for Church. In ancient and medieval times, habitation in Friesland occurred only in those areas which were elevated above sea level (for example in Burgum) or on artificially built mounds known as terp, weird or ward. These mounds were areas of refuge in times of flooding. The artificial mounds became redundant after the building of the dykes on the border of the Wadden Sea. Habitation of this area goes back to the Stone Age. Main things to see in Burgum are the Town Hall and the Krústsjerke (Cross Church) which is the remainder of a convent burned in the Eighty Years' War. Friesland is renowned for its many lakes and canals. One of these lakes is found nearby the village of Burgum and it is called the Burgumer Mar. Another object of interest is the so-called Poppestien. A large stone deposited in this area during the last ice age (11,000 BC). In ancient times this stone was used in fertility rituals.

The Burgumer Mar (Dutch: Bergumermeer) is a lake near the town of Burgum in the Dutch province of Friesland. The lake was formed during the last ice age. It is a popular water sports area with multiple yacht harbours. The Princess Margriet Canal splits the lake into a northern and southern part. Since March 15, 2007, the West Frisian name Burgumer Mar is the official name; before that date the Dutch name was the official one). Sumarreheide (Dutch: Suameerderheide) is a hamlet in Tytsjerksteradiel in the province of Friesland, the Netherlands. Sumarreheide is not a statistical entity, and the postal authorities have placed it under Sumar. The hamlet has place name signs.The hamlet was first mentioned around 1700 as Heyd Huysen, and become Suameerderheide in the 20th century. The inhabitants of the hamlet used to live in sod houses. In 1916, ten stone houses were built.

Noardburgum (Dutch: Noordbergum) is a village in Tytsjerksteradiel municipality in the Friesland province of the Netherlands. It had a population of around 2,250 in January 2017.

Quatrebras is a hamlet in Tytsjerksteradiel in the province of Friesland, the Netherlands. Quatrebras (four arms) is the French word for crossroads. In this case, it is the intersection of the roads N355 and N356. The hamlet was best known for its disco, Club Quatrebras (later renamed Club Q), however the COVID-19 pandemic caused the permanent closure in 2021. In December 2021, the building was demolished.Quatrebras is not a statistical entity, and the postal authorities have placed it under Noardburgum. It has place name signs, and consists of about 35 houses.

Eastermar (Dutch: Oostermeer) is a village in Tytsjerksteradiel municipality in the province Friesland (Fryslân in West Frisian) of the Netherlands. It had around 1,575 citizens in January 2017.

Feanwâlden is a railway station located in Feanwâlden, Netherlands. The station was opened on 1 June 1866 and is located on the Harlingen–Nieuweschans railway between Leeuwarden and Groningen. Train services are operated by Arriva. The station was called Veenwouden (the Dutch name for the village) until 12 December 2015 when it was renamed Feanwâlden. This is to reflect the Frisian name of the town, which was changed in 2009.
