The Barrett Juvenile Correctional Center, also known as the Barrett Learning Center and originally as the Virginia Industrial Home School for Wayward Colored Girls and then the Virginia Industrial Home School for Colored Girls, was a residential industrial school and later a juvenile correctional facility operated by the state of Virginia near Mechanicsville, Virginia.The facility was founded in 1915 as a facility for African-American girls who otherwise faced prison.

Slash Church, also known as the Upper Church-St. Paul's Parish is a historic Disciples of Christ Church, formerly an Anglican/Episcopal church located at 11353 Mt. Hermon Road, Ashland, Hanover County, Virginia. Built of southern yellow pine cut from the property in 1729–30, it is the oldest frame house of worship still in use in Virginia.

Hanover County Courthouse Historic District is a national historic district located at Hanover Courthouse, Hanover County, Virginia, USA. The district includes four contributing buildings in the county seat of Hanover Courthouse. They are the separately listed Hanover County Courthouse (1735), the old jail (1835), the clerk's office (c. 1835), and the Hanover Tavern now known as the Barksdale Theatre.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1971.

St. Paul's Episcopal Church is a historic Episcopal church in Hanover Courthouse, Virginia, United States. It was built in 1895, and is a one-story, frame building in the Late Gothic Revival style. It has a brick foundation and weatherboard siding with symmetrically placed lancet windows. The front facade features a protruding bell tower in the center with two flanking lancet windows. The church is connected at the northeast corner to an addition used for offices and classrooms, that was built in the 1930s. Another addition was built in the 1960s.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1994.

Totomoi is an historic plantation in Hanover County, Virginia. The 544-acre (220 ha) property is located at 8055 Rural Point Road, near Studley. The property was, according to long-held family tradition, believed to belong to the family as early as the 17th century, but the discovery in the 21st century of family records place its purchase to 1800. The main plantation house is a brick two story building constructed in 1800 by Thomas Tinsley, one of six generations of that name. The main block is three bays wide, with a broad hall across the front and two rooms behind. Additions in 1820 and 1840 added single story ells to the east side of the house. The property includes a cluster of early 20th century farm outbuildings, and probably contains archaeological remnants of its 19th-century structures. The property, was, as of 2012, still owned by Tinsley's descendants.Totomoi was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1976.

Oak Forest is a historic home located near Mechanicsville, Hanover County, Virginia. It was built about 1828, and is a two-story, five-bay, frame I-house dwelling in the Federal style. The house sits on a brick foundation, has a standing seam metal gable roof, and exterior end chimneys. Also on the property is a contributing smokehouse.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1999.
