Ladelund

The Ladelund concentration camp, located 20 km north-east of Niebüll on the German-Danish border, was set up as a satellite camp of Neuengamme concentration camp on November 1, 1944, as part of the construction of the so-called Friesenwall. The Friesenwall was a planned but only partially completed fortification that was to be built on the German North Sea coast towards the end of World War II. The concentration camp near Ladelund was responsible for the construction of trenches and gun emplacements for a militarily pointless "blocking position" south of the Danish border. The camp was disbanded on December the 16th, 1944. Within the month and a half that it existed, 300 out of over 2,000 prisoners died.

Karrharde (North Frisian: Kårhiird; Danish: Kær Herred) was an amt (collective municipality) in the district of Nordfriesland, in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. It was situated on the border with Denmark, approx. 35 km north of Husum, and 25 km west of Flensburg. Its seat was in Leck, itself not part of the amt. In January 2008, it was merged with the Ämter Bökingharde, Süderlügum and Wiedingharde, and the municipalities Niebüll and Leck to form the Amt Südtondern. Achtrup (Danish: Agtrup; North Frisian: Åktoorp) is a municipality in Nordfriesland district, in Schleswig-Holstein in northern Germany. Besides standard German, Low German and South Jutlandic, a Danish dialect, are still spoken in the area.

Süderlügum (Danish: Sønder Løgum; Mooring North Frisian: Läigem or Sööderläigem; Wiedingharde North Frisian: Leegem) is a municipality in the district of Nordfriesland, in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. It is situated near the border with Denmark, approximately 35 km west of Flensburg, and 7 km southeast of Tønder. Süderlügum is part of the amt (collective municipality) of Südtondern.

Tinningstedt (Danish: Tinningsted, North Frisian: Taningstää) is a municipality in the district of Nordfriesland, in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. Most of the area is divided up into oddly shaped divisions of land. The area is primarily rural, with open country.
