Shadwell is a village and civil parish in north-east Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. The village is 6 miles (9.7 km) to the north east of Leeds city centre. It sits in the Harewood ward of Leeds City Council and Elmet and Rothwell parliamentary constituency. The village is in the LS17 postal code and is served by the Shadwell Parish Council. Shadwell borders with areas including Alwoodley, Roundhay, Whinmoor and Moortown and is being increasingly referred to simply as an area or suburb of Leeds but retains its many village traditions. It had a population of 1,864 in 2001, reducing to 1,849 at the 2011 Census.

Leeds Grammar School was an independent school founded 1552 in Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. Originally a male-only school, in August 2005 it merged with Leeds Girls' High School to form The Grammar School at Leeds. The two schools physically united in September 2008. The school was founded in 1552 by William Sheafield to provide free, subsidised or fee-paying education to the children of the City of Leeds. Despite 1552 being the traditional date for the foundation of the school, there is some evidence to suggest that the school existed as early as 1341. In 1805, the school was the subject of a ruling by Lord Eldon that set a precedent affecting grammar schools throughout England.

The Grammar School at Leeds (GSAL) is an independent day school in Leeds, England, created on 4 August 2005 by the merger of Leeds Grammar School (founded c. 1552) and Leeds Girls' High School (co-founded in 1876 by Frances Lupton). The schools merged in September 2008, at which point the school was opened to both sexes. The school was situated on two sites: the senior school (ages 11–18) and junior school (7–11) at Alwoodley, while the former Leeds Girls' High School site in Headingley is used by the infant school and nursery, however, both schools are at the Alwoodley site now. The school operates as a diamond school, classes for girls and boys between the ages of 11 and 16 are segregated, but extracurricular activities are mixed. Junior school and sixth form classes are coeducational. The school is a member of The Headmasters' and Headmistresses' Conference (HMC). In 2020, GSAL was named the Independent School of the Decade for the North by The Times.

Roundhay Park in Leeds, West Yorkshire, England, is one of the biggest city parks in Europe. It covers more than 700 acres (2.8 km2) of parkland, lakes, woodland and gardens which are owned by Leeds City Council. The park is one of the most popular attractions in Leeds; nearly a million people visit each year. It is situated on the north-east edge of the city, bordered by the suburb of Roundhay to the west, Oakwood to the south and the A6120 outer ring road to the north.

Harewood speed Hillclimb (the form with italics and a lower-case s is used officially) is a hillclimb near the village of Harewood, West Yorkshire, England. The track can be found on the A659 between Harewood village and Collingham, north of Leeds. In addition to national events, it hosts rounds of the British Hill Climb Championship, a Classic & Historic Hillclimb and an event that includes bikes. Around 11 meetings are organised between April and September each year by the British Automobile Racing Club Yorkshire Centre. The first event on the track took place on 16 September 1962, and Best Time of the Day was set at 51.61s by Tony Lanfranchi driving an Elva Mk VI. This was on the original 'Short Course'. The first R.A.C. Hill Climb Championship event was held in September, 1964. In the mid 1990s the track was extended to 1,584 yards (1,448 m). As of 2023, the outright hill record holder was Matt Ryder, whose time of 49.39 seconds was set on 3 July 2022 in that day's 2nd Top 12 Runoff.

Sinai Synagogue is a Reform Jewish congregation on Roman Avenue in Roundhay, Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. It was founded in 1944 and is affiliated to the Movement for Reform Judaism.The community has a burial ground in current use at Harehills Cemetery, Leeds, which is managed by Leeds City Council.It publishes a quarterly magazine, the Sinai Chronicle.

Scarcroft is a village and civil parish 6 miles (10 km) north east of Leeds city centre in the City of Leeds metropolitan borough, West Yorkshire, England. The village lies on the main A58 road between Leeds and Wetherby. It had a population of 1,153 increasing to 1,194 at the 2011 Census.The village of Bardsey is further 1 mile (2 km) eastwards on the A58 towards Wetherby. The Scarcroft Watermill was built in 1810 to grind corn. There is one pub in Scarcroft, the New Inn, established in 1852. It was at one time called The Bracken Fox but reverted to its former name in 2011. The village's shop and post office have closed. The closest local shops are in Bardsey, Shadwell and Whinmoor. The closest supermarkets are Tesco in Seacroft and Morrisons in Wetherby. Scarcroft is also renowned for having among the most expensive streets in Leeds: Bracken Park, recently revealed as the most expensive and Ling Lane, regularly appearing in top ten lists.

Alwoodley Golf Club is a golf club located in Alwoodley, North Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. It was founded in 1907. The 18-hole golf course was the first to be designed by renowned architect, Alister MacKenzie. It is recognised as one of the best inland heathland courses in England.

St Andrew's Roundhay is in Shaftesbury Avenue, Roundhay, Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. It is an active United Reformed Church in Leeds. The church and Sunday school is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II listed building.
