The watershed of the creek has an area of 2.95 square miles (7.6 km2). Wild trout naturally reproduce in the creek and it is considered to be a High-Quality Coldwater Fishery. However, it has been affected by sewage contamination. The surficial geology in the creek's vicinity consists of Wisconsinan Till, bedrock, Wisconsinan Ice-Contact Stratified Drift, and wetlands.

North Pocono High School is a public, four-year high school located in Covington Township, Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania. The school building was built in 2009. It is the only high school in the North Pocono School District, which covers a vast territory in northeastern Pennsylvania, including parts of Wayne County and all of southern and east-central Lackawanna County. North Pocono has been ranked as one of America's Most Challenging High Schools by the Washington Post for two consecutive years and one of America's Best High Schools by Newsweek. North Pocono is also one of two school districts nationwide to make the AP Honor Roll for six consecutive years.The old high school, on Church Street in the borough of Moscow, is now the North Pocono Middle School and houses grades 6 through 8, with the new high school containing grades 9 through 12. The Pinchot Trail System is a 22.2-mile (35.7 km) hiking trail in Pinchot State Forest in the Pocono Mountains region of northeastern Pennsylvania. The trail is marked with orange blazes as a designated Pennsylvania State Forest hiking trail. While it is a single loop trail, the word "System" is in its name because it was formed from several previously existing trails with distinct names, and many of those old names are still visible on trail signs for their historical interest.
