Hamworthy United Football Club is a football club based in Hamworthy, a suburb of Poole, England. Formed in 1970 as a merger of Hamworthy and Trinidad Old Boys, they are currently members of the Southern League Division One South and play at the County Ground. The club are affiliated to the Dorset FA.

Poole Power Station was a coal-fired power station located in Hamworthy, Poole, in Dorset. Its 325 ft (100 m) tall twin chimneys were prominent landmarks and it was the tallest building in Dorset until its partial demolition in 1993.

In Hamworthy there are six main areas, Rockley Park (where Royal Marines Poole and Holiday Park are), Turlin Moor Estate, Lower Hamworthy (where Poole Docks are), Cobbs Quay/Harbourside (Which looks out over Holes Bay), Lake Side (where the Metalbox Factory is located) and Central Hamworthy (Location of the Main Road, Co-Op and Church area). Hamworthy has a railway station, with a twice hourly South Western Railway service to London Waterloo on the South West Main Line.

The Twin Sails Bridge (also known as The Second Harbour Crossing) is a double leaved bascule bridge in Poole, Dorset, England. The bridge provides a second road link from Poole Town Centre to Hamworthy. The intention is that the bridge will allow development of four major sites, two in Poole Town Centre and two in Hamworthy, including the old power station, which was closed in 1988.

Poole Bridge (also known as Poole Lifting Bridge and Hamworthy Bridge) is a bascule bridge in Poole, Dorset, England. Constructed in 1927, the bridge provides a road link across a busy boating channel. In February 2012 a second bridge was completed intending to operate in conjunction with the existing bridge

Poole Lifeboat Station is the base for Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) search and rescue operations at Poole, Dorset in England. The first lifeboat was stationed at Poole Harbour in 1865 and the present station was opened in 1988. Since November 2016 it has operated two inshore lifeboats, an Atlantic 85 and a D class.

The Lifeboat College is the national training centre of the RNLI in Poole, Dorset, England.

St James is a Church of England parish church in Poole on the south coast of England, in the ceremonial county of Dorset. The church is located in the historic quarter of the town, near Poole Harbour. It is the parish church for the St James sub district of Poole. Today the church is still in use by the local population and has a large playgroup. Lucy Holt is the current minister of the church.

The Custom House (formerly known as the King's Custom House) is a Grade II* listed building in Poole, Dorset, England. It is a Georgian building located in the oldest part of Poole Quay, and is currently used as a restaurant.

On 21 June 1988, a large fire and explosion engulfed the BDH chemical plant in Poole, Dorset, England. 3,500 people were evacuated out of the town centre in the biggest peacetime evacuation the country had seen since World War II. Despite the intensity of the explosion, nobody was killed or seriously injured.

Scaplen's Court is a fifteenth century Grade I listed house in Poole, Dorset, England, adjacent to the Poole Museum. The house is now used as a museum focusing on life in Poole between the fifteenth and nineteenth centuries, and includes a Victorian schoolroom and kitchen.

The Poole Logboat is an ancient logboat made from a single oak tree. It was excavated in the town of Poole, Dorset, England. The boat is over 2,200 years old and is estimated through carbon dating to have been constructed around 200–300 BCE, likely around 295BC.The Iron Age vessel was unearthed in 1964 during dredging work in Poole Harbour. The log boat, which could accommodate 18 people and is 10 metres (33 ft) long was based at Green Island in the harbour. After it was found it was kept submerged in water for 30 years while archaeologists decided what to do with it. It was restored by members of York Archaeological Trust and dried for two years. The boat is on display in Poole Museum. In May 2023, the boat was removed into safe storage while the museum is under renovation.The boat has been described as one of the finest examples in Western Europe.As an internationally significant object, the logboat has been fully recorded digitally using 3D scanning.The logboat is of a shell built design type that has a 'fitted transom added'. The boat has a reasonable degree of stability and seaworthiness. With a freeboard of 0.76m, research has determined the logboat could support the weight of up to 18 persons (weighing 60kg) each.
