Highspire High School is an historic high school building which is located in Highspire, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1990.

The Star Barn Complex, also known as the John Motter Barn and Outbuildings and "Walnut Hill," is an historic, American farm outbuilding complex that was located in Lower Swatara Township, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania. Added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2000, it was dismantled in October 2015 and then moved to a site in Lancaster County for reassembly and preservation.

Calver Island is a historic archaeological site located on the Susquehanna River in Swatara Township, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania. It is known as Pennsylvania Site 36DA89. Geographically, Calver Island is a "midchannel" island formed from the coalescence of two longitudinal shoals that merged as one landform. It was only then upon the unification of the land, estimated at 5200 years before present, where it would've been inhabitable by Native Americans.In the 2000s, a bridge for the Pennsylvania Turnpike—between Fairview Township, York County and Swatara Township, Dauphin County—which spanned through the island was in need of replacement by the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission. Because it required review by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the National Historic Preservation Act also required that the project not impact archaeological information, which was first identified there in the 1970s. With some additional digs, the island was found to be eligible to be added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2007. Most digging then occurred in several block excavations in the immediate area of potential effect (APE) prior to construction of the new bridge.Calver Island is a stratified site, so found artifacts' originate from Early Archaic through Late Woodland periods. The island itself had one of the most intact stratigraphic records in the entire state.

Spades Wharf Island is a small island in the Susquehanna River in Lower Swatara Township, Pennsylvania, near Highspire, Pennsylvania. Near the Harrisburg International Airport, the island itself is part of the Pennsylvania State Game Lands and is known for its small shape.

Harrisburg Air National Guard Base is a United States Air Force base, located at Harrisburg International Airport, (IATA: MDT, ICAO: KMDT, FAA LID: MDT) Pennsylvania. It is located 1.7 miles (2.7 km) west-southwest of Middletown, Pennsylvania. The Pennsylvania Air National Guard facility is sited on the location of the former Olmsted Air Force Base, which was closed in 1969. The 193d Special Operations Wing operates Lockheed Martin MC-130J Commando Solo II aircraft. Today the airfield is split between civilian activities, Harrisburg IAP (MDT) and military activities, which now carry the Harrisburg ANGB title. After Olmsted AFB closed in 1970 major civilian air activities moved from Capital City Airport, near Harrisburg over to the former Olmsted site.

It is owned by the Susquehanna Area Regional Airport Authority.The airport code MDT refers to Middletown, the town in which the airport is located. Planes landing at MDT from the south are often routed near Three Mile Island Nuclear Generating Station a few miles from the airport. The airport, frequently referred to as HIA, is the primary commercial airport in South Central Pennsylvania and is the third-busiest airport in Pennsylvania for passenger enplanements and cargo shipments behind Philadelphia International Airport and Pittsburgh International Airport.

The Conrad and Margaret Allerman House also known as the Old Reliance Farm, is a historic home located at Lower Swatara Township, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania. It was originally built in 1788, and is in the German vernacular tradition with influences from the Georgian style.Conrad Allerman arrived in Pennsylvania as a teenager from the Rhineland in Germany. He married Margaret Eschenour, a widow with two children about 1780 and died in 1790 or 1792, survived by his wife and four children, Conrad, Anna Maria, Margaret, and Elizabeth. The elder Margaret lived in the house until her death in 1807. The younger Conrad bought the house from his three sisters in 1801 for 862 pounds, upon reaching the age of 21.The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2011.

Penn State Harrisburg, officially known as the Pennsylvania State University at Harrisburg—Capital College and also called The Capital College, is an undergraduate college and graduate school of the Pennsylvania State University located in Lower Swatara Township, Pennsylvania. The campus is located 9 miles (15 km) south of Harrisburg. Penn State offers two associate, 34 baccalaureate, 24 master's, and three doctoral degrees as well as certificate and certification programs. It was an upper division college (serving only juniors and seniors) from its founding in 1966 until accepting freshmen and sophomores in 2004. The Penn State Eastgate Center, opened in 1991 in downtown Harrisburg, contains state agencies such as the Pennsylvania Securities Commission and Pennsylvania Municipal Retirement System as well as hearing rooms for workers compensation that also occupy space in the building. As of 2012, all classrooms and administrative personnel previously located in this building were relocated to the Middletown campus.

WMSS (91.1 FM, "Super 91") is a high school-operated high school radio station serving the Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, metropolitan area, licensed to Middletown and owned by the Middletown Area School District. The station serves as a training ground for high school students and offers a block format.
