Summerdale is an unincorporated community located in East Pennsboro Township, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania, United States. As of 2000, the community had an estimated population of 479. Central Pennsylvania College and the Capital Area Intermediate Unit are located in Summerdale. It is part of the Harrisburg–Carlisle Metropolitan Statistical Area.

Enola Yard is a large rail yard located in East Pennsboro Township, Pennsylvania, along the western shore of the Susquehanna River at Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Built in 1905 and expanded through the 1930s, Enola was the world's largest freight yard in 1956. It remains in operation today, though it has long since been eclipsed in size and traffic, first by Conway Yard outside Pittsburgh and later by Bailey Yard in Nebraska.

East Pennsboro Area High School is a midsized, suburban, public high school that serves East Pennsboro Township, Pennsylvania. The School is located at 425 West Shady Lane, Enola in Cumberland County, Pennsylvania. It is part of the East Pennsboro Area School District (EPASD). In the 2016–2017 school year, the School's enrollment was reported as 809 pupils in 9th through 12th grades.East Pennsboro Area High School is served by the Capital Area Intermediate Unit 15 which offers a variety of services, including a completely developed K-12 curriculum that is mapped and aligned with the Pennsylvania Academic Standards (available online), shared services, a group purchasing program and a wide variety of special education and special needs services. High school students may choose to attend Cumberland Perry Area Vocational Technical School for training in the construction and mechanical trades.

Central Penn College (Central Penn or CPC) is a private for-profit college in Summerdale, Pennsylvania. Established in 1881, CPC offers associate degrees, bachelor's degrees, and a master's degree in Professional Studies. In 2004, Central Penn College opened a Lancaster, Pennsylvania location and began offering blended and online classes. The college is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. Central Penn College was originally known as Central Pennsylvania Business School. The school changed its name in 1999 to Central Pennsylvania College and then to Central Penn College in 2010.

WHP (580 kHz) is a commercial AM radio station licensed to Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, serving the Harrisburg metropolitan area of South Central Pennsylvania. It broadcasts a talk radio format and is owned by iHeartMedia, Inc. The studios are on Corporate Circle in Harrisburg, off North Progress Avenue. WHP is powered at 5,000 watts, non-directional during the day. To protect other stations on 580 AM from interference at night, it uses a directional antenna with a six-tower array. The transmitter is on Tower Road near Interstate 81 in East Pennsboro Township near Enola, Pennsylvania. Programming is simulcast on 130-watt FM translator 103.7 W279EC and on the HD2 digital subchannel of sister station 97.3 WRVV.

Wade Island is located in the Susquehanna River in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Itself a part of the Sheets Island archipelago, the small island is home to Pennsylvania's large nesting colony of herons and egrets.

West Fairview, formerly a borough, is now a census-designated place (CDP) located at the confluence of the Susquehanna River and the Conodoguinet Creek in East Pennsboro Township, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania, United States. As of the 2020 census, the village had a population of 1,138.

Conodoguinet Creek is a 104-mile-long (167 km) tributary of the Susquehanna River in South central Pennsylvania in the United States. The name is Native American, and means "A Long Way with Many Bends".Conodoguinet Creek joins the Susquehanna River upstream of Harrisburg.The water divide between Conodoguinet Creek and Conococheague Creek is sometimes used as the boundary between the Hagerstown Valley and the Cumberland Valley. It flows past many mills, including Maclay's Mill. The Appalachian Trail crosses the creek near Carlisle.

Academy Manor is a historical suburban subdivision of the Riverside neighborhood within the Uptown section of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. The neighborhood extends north from Front and Division Street up to the location of former Harrisburg Academy (the neighborhood's namesake), west to Parkview Lane, and south back to Division St. It was established in the early 20th century with specific plans in terms of lot sizes, setbacks, and the kinds of buildings permitted.

McCormick Island is a 100-acre (0.40 km2) island, located in the city of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. It's one of the larger islands that makes up the Sheets Island Archipelago (3,675 acres) in the Susquehanna River. Other islands surrounding are Sheets Island, and Governor’s Mansion Island. It is directly south of the I-81 bridge, and can be seen from many different places in Harrisburg. It also is relatively close to Wade Island, another popular stopover for birds in migration. Wade Island is protected and access is not permitted. The various shorebirds present on McCormick Island represent an attraction for bird enthusiasts. Wade Island Rookery, Pennsylvania's largest multi-species nesting island, is also a great attraction.

Dixon University Center was a former higher education center made up of college and university-level programs from a consortium of schools in the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education (PASSHE) located in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. The facility was located on the former campus of Harrisburg Academy. The site was leased from 1988 until 1991, when it was purchased by PASSHE. In 2022, the campus was sold to the Jewish Federation of Greater Harrisburg to create the Alexander Grass Campus for Jewish Life.

The Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education (PASSHE) is a state agency of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania that oversees 10 state-owned universities. Collectively, it is the largest provider of higher education in the commonwealth. All of the schools are primarily NCAA Division II members and affiliated with the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC).PASSHE should not be confused with Pennsylvania's other state-funded university system, the Commonwealth System of Higher Education that includes the land grant university (Pennsylvania State University), three historically private universities (Temple University, Lincoln University, and University of Pittsburgh), and the related campuses of the four institutions.
