Locustdale, Pennsylvania

Butler Township is a township in Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania, United States. Formed in 1848 from part of Barry Township, it is named for war hero William Orlando Butler.

Lavelle-Locustdale was a census-designated place (CDP) in Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 649 at the 2000 census. For the 2010 census the area was split into two CDPs, Lavelle and Locustdale.

Lavelle is a census-designated place that is located in Butler Township, Schuylkill County in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, in the United States. Situated on Pennsylvania Route 901, it was part of the Lavelle-Locustdale CDP for the 2000 census, before the communities were split into the two separate CDPs of Lavelle and Locustdale. Originally named Salome, as a tribute to the wife of one of the town's pioneer settlers, the community was officially renamed as Lavelle sometime around 1880 in honor of Martin M. Lavelle, an Ashland, Pennsylvania attorney who had been a cavalryman during the American Civil War.During the late nineteenth century, the community of Lavelle was described by area newspapers as a hamlet. By the late twentieth century, it was still small, referred to in its own public notices as the Village of Lavelle.

Crab Run is a tributary of Mahanoy Creek in Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania, in the United States. It is approximately 2.5 miles (4.0 km) long and flows through Barry Township. The watershed of the stream has an area of 3.50 square miles (9.1 km2). Despite being listed as impaired by abandoned mine drainage, the stream is not impacted by this; no mining has been done in its watershed. However, some stream reaches in its watershed do experience agricultural impacts. The stream is not far from the Western Middle Anthracite Field. Its watershed is designated as a Coldwater Fishery and a Migratory Fishery. As of 2001, the stream contains macroinvertebrates, but no fish.

It is located 88 miles (141 km) northwest of Philadelphia and 71 miles (114 km) northeast of Harrisburg, in the Coal Region. It is completely encircled by Mount Carmel Township.

Mount Carmel Area High School is located at 600 West 5th Street, Mount Carmel, Northumberland County, Pennsylvania. In 2016, enrollment was 420 pupils in 9th through 12th grades. The school employed 39 teachers. It is the sole high school operated by the Mount Carmel Area School District. High school students may choose to attend the Northumberland County Career Technology Center for training in the construction and mechanical trades. In 2016, 76 MCAHS pupils attended the CTC school. For the 2014–15 school year, several Mount Carmel resident students chose to enroll in public, cyber charter schools, rather than attend the district's high school. Eldred Township is a township in Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania, United States. Settled in 1805 and incorporated in 1849 from part of Upper Mahantongo Township, it is named for Judge Nathaniel Eldred. The population was 709 at the 2020 census.

It is operated by the Federal Bureau of Prisons, a division of the United States Department of Justice. The facility has an adjacent minimum-security satellite prison camp which also houses male offenders. FCI Schuylkill is located in north-central Schuylkill County, 46 miles north the state capital of Harrisburg, and 175 miles north of Washington, D.C.
