The Universalist Meeting House of Sheshequin is a historic church, built in 1827 in Bradford County, Pennsylvania. The church is currently used during the months of July and August by the Unitarian Universalist Church of Athens and Sheshequin.Surrounding the church is a contributing cemetery. The cemetery predates the meeting house by about 30 years, but was operated together with the church from 1827 to 1914.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2013.

The buildings date between about 1801 and 1935, and include notable examples of vernacular and high style Greek Revival and Queen Anne style architecture. Also located in the district are the First Presbyterian Church (1881), Trinity Episcopal Church (1860-1861), and Riverside Cemetery / Old Athens Cemetery. Located in the district and separately listed are the Protection of the Flag Monument and Spalding Memorial Library-Tioga Point Museum.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2004.

The Protection of the Flag Monument (also known as the "Defense of the Flag Monument") is a historic war memorial located in Academy Park at 715 South Main Street in Athens, Bradford County, Pennsylvania. Designed in the Classical Revival style by the architectural firm McKim, Mead & White, with a sculpture by George Thomas Brewster, it was erected between 1900 and 1902, and has a granite pedestal topped by a bronze sculpture group. The sculpture depicts an adult soldier and a young drummer boy attired in Revolutionary War clothing and protecting their flag from falling into enemy hands. A commemorative plaque indicates it was dedicated in memory of the soldiers who fought in defense of the flag.This monument was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2001. It is located in the Athens Historic District.

Bridge in Athens Township was a historic Pennsylvania (petit) truss bridge in Athens Township and Athens, Bradford County, Pennsylvania. It spanned the Susquehanna River. It was built between 1913 and 1916, and measured 540 feet (164.6 m) long. It had two spans; one measuring 253 feet (77.1 m) long and built by the Penn Bridge Co. and the second measuring 287 feet (87.5 m) long and built by the Bethlehem Steel Bridge Co.The bridge was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988. It was replaced by a new bridge in 2005 and delisted from the National Register in 2012.

Much of Athens was under water, with the most damage in the downtown area along the river. Damage in nearby Tioga County, New York, was estimated at $100 million.

In the past, various iron products were made there. In 1900, 5,243 people lived there; in 1910, 6,426 people lived there, and in 1940, 7,569 persons made their homes in Sayre. It was founded as Robert Packer Hospital in 1885, making it the oldest hospital in the Twin Tiers of Pennsylvania and New York. The hospital is a primary stroke center and level I trauma center. It has received numerous awards, including being named one of the Truven Top 50 Cardiovascular Hospitals 10 times since 2001, "America’s 100 Best Hospitals for Coronary Intervention" by HealthGrades in 2017, 2018, and 2019 and receiving a Bariatric Surgery Excellence Award in 2019. It has also received a Center of Distinction Award for wound care and hyperbarics in 2018.
