The property is of both historical and architectural significance. The farm encompassing 275 acres includes a Federal-style farmhouse built around 1810 and multiple 19th and 20th-century agricultural-related structures which illustrate the agricultural activities of the farm and offer information on the vernacular design and timber framing practices of the region. The property was recommended to the New York State and National Historic Registries in 2007 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2008.

Vermont Route 30 passes through the village, leading north 7 miles (11 km) to Wells and southeast 8 miles (13 km) to Dorset. Vermont Route 133 has its southern terminus at Route 30 in Pawlet; it leads north 11 miles (18 km) to Middletown Springs.

The Elisha Straight House, now the Hartford Museum, is located on Main Street in Hartford, New York, United States, a short distance north of NY 149. It is a red wooden house dating to the early 19th century. At the beginning of the Civil War it was used as a local recruitment center for the Union Army, since many local men wanted to serve due to strong abolitionist sentiment in the area. Today it is a local history museum. In 2004 it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Brown's Tavern is a historic tavern and farm complex located at South Hartford in Washington County, New York. The property includes the 1802 Brown's Tavern, an 1878 horse barn, outhouse, corn crib, well and pump, and store and sheds foundations. The tavern building is a rectangular, 2+1⁄2-story, five by three bay, high-pitched gable roof building measuring 47 feet wide and 37 feet deep. The interior features a noted ballroom. It includes Federal style details, but was renovated about 1878–1880 in a regional eclectic style. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2000.
